This was most certainly the worst hotel I've stayed in till date. After reading poor reviews for many Istanbul hotels close to sultanahmet, i saw some good reviews for this and decided to book.|On arrival, the front office manager on the reception desk couldn't find our reservations, this took at least 10mins for him to sort, which I wasn't too pleased with, especially as we'd been travelling for around 15hours and had got off an overnight flight with no sleep with my elderly mother with me, that, and he didn't as so much apologise. Oh well, I let it go and we made our way up to the room. The deluxe room I'd booked was tiny, there was just enough floor space to open one suitcase, take what you need, close it and put it away to be able to move past it. The bathroom was nice and spacious and clean too. I was about to hop into the shower when I pulled a towel off the rack.....brown poo stains were smeared over it. I was absolutely disgusted. I rang reception (the only number you can ring) and the front office manager said he'll send up housekeeping, yet again, not even a simple 'sorry'. I expressed how disgusted I was, I had only been in the hotel half an hour at this point! Housekeeping arrived shortly and replaced the towels. ||I had booked breakfast with our stay. The selection of food is very minimal. There were 2 waitresses who spent their time cleaning tables and stocking plates, guests were mainly ignored. Despite having paid for breakfast, you had to buy eggs and fresh juices. the only eggs available in the breakfast buffet were scrambled eggs and the juice was one I saw the waitress reconstituting from a powder and water. I've never stayed in a hotel where I've paid for breakfast and then been told I'd have to pay extra for certain items on the breakfast menu! Daylight robbery!||I asked for an iron, which was sent up promptly. I rang down to enquire about the ironing board as there was nowhere to iron. The front office manager said "Lady, you asked for an iron and you've got one now so what do you want!" I explained that i need a board to iron on, he said he'd see and call me back and angrily put the phone down. I didn't hear back for a few hours and needed clothes to go out in. So i had to use the bed as a make shift ironing board, not to mention the spits of hot water that burnt my hand in the process. Later in the day I rang for something else and also mentioned I didn't hear back about the ironing board- front office manager simply said he's been busy-no apology. He sent housekeeping to the room- a friendly lady who couldn't speak English and yet when i explained to her she understood and promptly brought me one. ||Be careful when ordering room service - the hotel don't actually make the food....they order takeout! I was told it would come in 20mins, I chased up 30mins later and was told 5mins, and then I chased up again and someone else who picked up laughed and said no it wouldn't be 5mins, it'll be another 20mins. By the time the food arrived, it had been well over an hour and we were half asleep! the food came still in the takeaway carrier bag!||There was a welcome letter from the hotel manager with a generic message and his phone number in case of any issues, I tried to ring him but he didn't answer.||The bell boy (who also did reception, housekeeping, delivery etc) was friendly.||All in all, an appalling stay. I would have preferred to stay at one of the international hotels but these are a distance from the sultanahmet area and would required a lot of travelling daily which wasn't ideal for use as we only had just under 3 days there. |The rude behaviour of the front office manager was shocking, I have never been spoken to like that in a hotel and nor have I had poo stained towels!|Standards for cleanliness are low and customer service/friendliness is non existent. |Considering that this hotel wasn't cheap, I felt like id been robbed. Definitely not 4, actually a 1||Pros|Good location, 2 tram stops away from sultanahment (blue mosque/hagia sophia)||Cons|Poo on towels|Extremely rude front office manager||Location - difficult for taxi...
Read moreI have to give a controversial review:
There are two main receptionists that we met during our 3 nights stay: Murat and Erkan and two rooms that we stayed in.
I am giving 5/5 for everything when it comes to our final day and the times with Murat, he is simply the best! Amazing person, helped us with everything, gave us tips, and we had lovely conversations. He is a proper character and we are so happy to meet him!
When it comes to the first half of our stay however, and Erkan, the other main receptionist, I must give 1/5 as we got a room without daylight + due to its location next to the elevator, the basis of the cleaning staff and the lack of soundproofing, we listened to the annoying sound of the elevator, all the guests walking, talking, etc. in front of the room, the cleaning staff shouting starting in the early morning, children running around until 1 am. And that all as they were inside of the room, literally no soundproofing.
The first morning we let Erkan know that we couldnt sleep as the room is seriously flawed and hence we need asap a new one. He disregarded our complaint, showed no sign of understanding or will to help.
The same day later when Murat replaced Erkan, I inquired if he was updated maybe. He did not even hear about it, but understood our problem entirely and promised us a new room for our final night.
(We bought earplugs for the second night in the same room, they did not help much tho)
Our last night was great and we managed to sleep before leaving the hotel (We experienced however in the new room that it is not soundproof at all either as we could still hear the elevator, and people talking when passing by the room loud and clear, but due to the better location it was not that bad as in the first one).
Even later Erkan was very unfriendly, therefore I must give a 3/5 rating overall. 5/5 for Murat and the new room, 1/5 for Erkan and the original room.
Apart from these:
the breakfast is great, it is just on the -1 floor resulting in no daylight. the design of the whole hotel is fancy, we loved it. the location in my opinion is not very good as it seems to be in a pretty bad...

If you're thinking of staying at Edition Old City Hotel in Istanbul, think again! Our experience here was nothing short of awful, and we feel obligated to warn others so they donât make the same mistake we did.
Rude StaffđĄ: From the moment we arrived, we were met with rudeness and indifference. The staff clearly has no interest in making guests feel welcome or comfortable.
Fake ReviewsđŤ: Donât be fooled by the glowing reviews you see online. The manager, Ercan, pressures guests to leave positive reviews at checkout, so those high ratings are not to be trusted. We learned this the hard way after staying here for three miserable nights.
Tiny, Uncomfortable Roomsđď¸: The rooms are unbelievably small, and to make matters worse, we were given a room with two single beds pushed togetherâcompletely unacceptable for a couple! It was uncomfortable, and despite our complaints, they refused to provide us with a different room.
Construction Chaosđ§: There's heavy construction right outside the hotel. Because of this, taxis either refuse to drop you off directly or demand extra money. If youâre not willing to pay, be ready to drag your luggage for quite a distance.
Shady Luggage Storage Scamđ¸: Unlike every other hotel we stayed at in Turkey, where luggage storage was free, Manager Ercan pulls a shady move. He'll butter you up by complimenting your country and then ask to see your currency. Next thing you know, heâs asking for cash to store your bags. No official bill, nothingâjust straight into his pocket. This is pure greed and likely not even known by the higher management.
Conclusion: Manager Ercan is the greediest person we encountered in all of Turkey. We were deeply disappointed and regret ever setting foot in this hotel. Please, save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. This hotel is not worth the money, time, or stress. đ
Avoid this place at all costs! đŤ Try to book any other hotel and donât get deceived by the...
