When we arrived at the hotel around 1:30am we were told our room had been upgraded from a hotel room to an apartment. However the apartment was a walk away and it was in a residential building, not the hotel building.||Whilst the apartment was nice, it was smaller than the hotel room we had booked and didn’t have a terrace, which also came with the room we had booked. ||We explained that whilst we appreciated the upgrade, we would like the room we had booked. We were told that room wasn’t available but they would see if they could move us in the next few days, so we had to spend our first night in the apartment. This was frustrating as it was the early hours of the morning and we really wanted to just get in our room, unpack and go to bed.||The following morning we spoke to reception a couple of times on the phone and were given various vague answers about when we might know if we could move to the room we booked. We then went to reception and they confirmed they did now have the room available that we had booked, so we were able to move to it. ||We were pleased with this outcome but it seemed the room had been available all along as there wouldn’t have been time for someone to check out and to have the room cleaned by 11am.||It was frustrating that we’d been made to stay in another property for our first night and then had to move all of our belongings. Dealing with this had also eaten into our holiday time. ||We were given a lunch voucher for the hotel restaurant by the hotel manager but we felt we really should have been given some compensation towards our first nights stay.||We also had some issues with having enough hot water in our shower. However the staff did immediately assist us with this issue. ||Despite the issue at the start of our stay, the rest of our stay was great. The hotel is in a great location and provides a cheaper alternative to the luxury high rise hotels. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were really friendly and helpful with everything else. We stayed at Rove Marina for part of a mother-daughter trip in May, after moving from Rove at the Park because we wanted to be a bit more centrally located. We ended up not really liking the Marina area (not stroller-friendly, beach way too busy and crowded), but I still want to highlight the many positives of this hotel.

The staff is truly what makes this hotel special. Everyone — from the cleaning team, to the reception staff, to the pool team, the restaurant manager, and her entire team — was incredibly warm, welcoming, and kind. The atmosphere was relaxed and respectful, and I always felt completely comfortable as a woman traveling alone with my four-year-old daughter. The hotel has a great vibe overall, with guests from all walks of life — solo travelers, families, young couples — and you never feel out of place. Melissa’s restaurant team was especially kid-friendly: they happily adapted food orders, provided pencils and coloring materials, and were even willing to warm up food or let you eat something you brought. And the food at the restaurant itself was fresh, really tasty, and offered lots of variety.

The room was spacious enough, with a wonderful view, and very clean. The hotel overall is a bit on the smaller side, which is to be expected for a city hotel, but well-maintained. There’s also a small leisure area with a PlayStation, mini golf, and a screen — a nice little bonus, even if a bit limited for younger kids.

Other thoughtful touches really stood out: the self-service laundry, free shuttle, infused water, and sometimes juice or popcorn available at reception, free popsicles at the pool plus a small shop on-site. All these details made our stay more convenient and comfortable.
