Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic calendar. Ramadan is a month of fasting, prayer, reflection and community. This is observed worldwide and is not new to UAE residents even to non-Muslims. As respect to our Muslim brothers and sisters, eating, drinking, and smoking in public is strictly prohibited during their fast.
A lot of restaurants and hotels offer Iftar packages. Osh has one of the most reasonably priced Iftars I had since I landed my foot in UAE. They offer a fusion of Uzbeki and Arabic menu.
To break the fast, one must start with three Dates, not just because it is a tradition but because it is nutritious burst of sugar that will fuel you with energy. Osh added marinated olives to wake up your taste buds.
While everyone is hungry because of the fast, it is important to eat at a slow pace and better start with hydrating yourself.
Osh served us this fizzy drink with date syrup and pine nuts. It has a refreshing taste that will cool you down. It has the taste of softdrinks but doesn’t have the basd effects of it.
They served Cold Mezzeh to stimulate our appetite. Iftar favoriites were served suchs as Hummus. Moutabel, and Muhammara. Georgian Salad, and Garden Salad not just added color but a refreshing taste and sight on our table.
To add that Uzbekistan touch, they served the Mastawa Soup which I consider as a meal that covers most of the nutrition you need. It has minced mutton, onion, garlic, carrots, Potatoes, bell peppers, tomatoes, and rice in a tomato-based soup with a dash of salt, cumin and black pepper. The soup that Uzbeks eat on cold winters but it definitely helps on warming the tummy after a long day of fasting. Osh’s Lentil Soup is very light, even if you finish a bowl you will feel satisfied but not bloated.
For those who are not a fan of Cold Mezzeh, they have Hot Mezzeh as well. Mixed Samsa is a baked savoury meat pastry. It is like a fusion of samosa and empanada. Another Hot Mezzeh that was served is Falafel. A vegetarian deep fried ball made of chickpeas, herbs, and spices.
While waiting for the main dish, you can enjoy the sides with the Cold Mezzeh. They served us Arabic Pita Bread, Kupus Arabic Bread, French Fries
For the main dish, they served us the Mix Grill -Chicken Shashlik, Lamb Kofta, Chicken Kofta. All were very tender and has a very mild Arabic taste. In addition to this, Sea Bream Fillet and OSH are also part of the main dishes. OSH or palov is an Uzbekistan’s signature dish.
To end it with a sweet note, they have several dessert options. Chak Chak, Saffron Milk Cake, Umm Ali, and Fruit platter. Chak-chak is a Russian dessert made of deep fried unleavened dough. After frying, it is drenched with hot honey. The Saffron Milk Cake tastes like a very soft sponge cake bathed in saffron milk. The milk tastes like the Ras Malai milk. It has a mild sweetness that will make you want more. Playful side of me ate the Chak-chak and Saffron Milk Cake together, it is an explosion of sweetness and texture in my mouth.
Osh has an interesting take on Iftar, a break from the usual iftar meals. It is not just filling but satisfying too. For AED 149, you get to enjoy an Arabic and Uzbek cuisine with a nice view and amazing service.
I am rating Osh 4/5.

Read moreLoved everything! I rarely say this about any place now adays cause usually pictures are deceptive or when trying a new cuisine your palate might not be accustomed to the cuisine hence you wouldn’t enjoy it as much.
So I’ve always been a little skeptical and had read mixed reviews about OSH. It was my first time at the restaurant they have been open for a while. So they serve traditional uzbek food and or a licensed when you the restaurant is a two-story concept where is the top floor is Shisha bar as a rooftop and ground floor is non-smoking and I thought this more family oriented than since it’s located at the Lemaire beach there is ample outdoor seating available as well for a cooler months. We sat indoors and I would recommend our reservations cause we made one and also the place was pretty packed and I went on a weekday early evening dinner.
Somethings I was familiar with at the others we asked for the service to help us with the best things that we could try and they told us it does they tried to import everything fresh from Uzbekistan and a lot of their stuff is way traditional and taste and they are most famous for their meat. So I am familiar with the Manti which is lamb meat dumplings so we had to order those and then I’m also familiar with the Lamb Pulav which is a lamb with the rice and also am I had the idea that they had do these fried flat breads as stuffed with cheese or meat it’s called ChiBurek so we tried that with cheese stuffing. All of these were absolutely delicious. Now here’s the list of things we tried, I am listing it so you get names of what to order also images are attached for each item.
• Garden Salad, • Pickled Cucumber; I loved these, was told it’s a traditional thing. • Chicken Samsa, couldn’t get enough of these, chicken sambosa, I loved the crispy crust & hot flavorful stuffing. • Cheese Cheburek • Osh Prazdnichiy, this is the Pulav, must order. • Chick Shashlik, the most tender and juicy grilled chicken you’ll ever have. • Achichuk, is the tomato salad that comes With the rice. • Lamb Manti • Anna Pavlova, very nicely presented fresh fruits topped pavlova. • Mix Berries & Yuzu Mocktails both were refreshing. • Amond Cherry tea to gulp it all down.
So there’s a lot to try at OSH and everything can’t be covered in one time. They also do my favorite Laghman which I intent to try whenever I go next. Portions are sharing. So ideally go with the family or friends and try more...
Read moreOsh is a licensed Uzbek restaurant in La Mer North. It comes to Dubai via Knightsbridge in London where its first and flagship branch is located. Like its La Mer neighbour, Stars 'N' Bars, it is set over two floors, the top floor of which houses its bar and terrace with a magnificent view. There’s an outdoor seating area downstairs as well. Rather than go the modern-ethnic route like Baku Café in City Walk, Osh’s interior is what they call modern-elegant. It looks as much like a trendy, upmarket nightclub as it does a restaurant. I (much) prefer the Azeri proposition. In addition to alcohol, Osh also serves shisha (indoors).
Although the Osh menu is made up predominantly of Uzbek and Central Asia favourites it also offers a number of fashionable international dishes such as ceviche, sashimi and tempura. Vegetarians and pescetarians are well covered too. I love Central Asian food and stuck to their Uzbek section ordering the Lamb Samsa, Bahor Salad and a delicious yoghurt dish similar to a Qatiqli Salad to start. For our mains I ordered Djizz, fried lamb shank served on fried potatoes, while my foodie companion from out of town ordered their superb Lamb Kofta; this was only after he was told that their Traditional Uzbek Osh (Plov) was not yet ready. The food was sensational. My compliments to Ecuadorian Chef Alejandro and his talented team.
Service at Osh is five star! We were greeted by an elegant, articulate hostess who guided us up and gave us a choice of table, inside or (madness) outside. Still wet from the beach we actually chose to sit outside rather than risk catching a cold in their chilled interior. Bad decision. It’s simply too hot in the day and too humid in the evening to sit out in comfort anymore. The young man waiting our table (see picture) was fantastic, helping us with our order and attending to our table like we were returning regulars. I have been to most of the Uzbek restaurants in Dubai and this is without doubt the best. Worth a detour.
