Fish n Hook — Local services in Aberdeen City

Some of the best Fish and Chips I have ever tasted.

So this is my first time at Fish N Hook and I am a fascist when it comes to good fish and chips. I had a large haddock supper.... price was high end of the scale so I am being quite picky.

Fish: perfectly cooked, flaky and too big to fit in the box. The fish itself was top end and tasty. Enough even to accidentally feed a seagull on the way home.

Fish Batter: was lovely, light and crisp on the outside... more like a tempura. Inside it was a little claggy and not ideal, perhaps layered on a little thick. This was pretty much the only weak point and is easy to fix and will vary from order to order. Hopefully my next will be better.

Chips: the best I have ever had from a chipper. Seriously... chips are the hardest thing to get perfect, but they nailed it. Crispy, fluffy inside and a good chunk of little crispy bits too.

Raw chipsteak supper. Half way through it and realised totally uncooked. Decided to take it back and she says to me, 81 degrees and they can be pink. PINK, that was still in the park eating grass. Hopefully no food poisoning. Clearly training needed. Did get an apology and my money back for the chipsteak only believe it or not. Now i have been to this chipper under previous name and possibly ownership many times and never had a problem. The chipper does get good reviews and maybe my experience was hopefully a one off. We ordered a regular haddock and chips, and a battered sausage and chips last night from Fish N Hook. I saw that they did Panko breadcrumbs and thought I’d try it. Glad I did! The coating is super crispy and not at all oily, and the fish is completely encased making it perfectly steamed inside.

Prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food, packaging, and service.

The only constructive feedback I could give is to please use local potatoes 🙏🏻
