Charming Lunch Spot with Fresh Dishes and Friendly Service on the West End. We recently visited Milk on Morrison Street for lunch, and overall, it was a lovely experience. We chose to sit outside, enjoying the sunny weather, though be aware that it’s right by the road, so it can get a bit busy and noisy. The menu at Milk is relatively small, but what they offer is of high quality. The dishes we ordered were beautifully presented and delicious, with fresh ingredients that really stood out. The service was another highlight—friendly, uncomplicated, and attentive without being overbearing. It’s clear that the staff are committed to making sure you have a good experience. If you’re looking for a cozy spot for a relaxed meal in Edinburgh, Milk is definitely worth a visit.

This was the best breakfast so far in our week and a half in the UK. Though the place is rather small, we got in straight away even with luggage. We ordered their own made granola with Greek yoghurt and berry compote, which was so good, and the banana bread (2 pieces) with Yoghurt and honey and pistachios, and that was just amazing. The coffee was good and a huge pot of tea. The staff was so helpful especially when I, very apologetically mentioned I was having an issue getting through to the car hire firm and he let me use their phone. And the music was all from my Spotify 70's playlist! This place was in the perfect spot between our Airbnb and Haymarket Station. Wish we had time to try the other things on the menu as they all sounded lovely.

Had read alot of reviews about this place so decided to drop by for a early morning brekkie before I headed back to London. The space is cute and peaceful. Can definitely be a quiet in the chaos. They have fresh coffee, pastries and a limited menu. The barista could have been a little kinder though. She was cold and very business oriented. On arrival she straight away jumped into what do you want? And things like can you please only use one table- although the entire cafe was empty. Can you pay first etc etc! Anyway back to the food and coffee- really really good and a must try. My pain au chocolat was fresh. The breakfast was nice. The avocado were juicy and felt fresh produce.

Poor! Got the order wrong, after being ignored, saying "excuse me" the waiter scurried away. I don't think it would have been a problem if I hadn't had to sit and look at the disgusting fatty greasy bacon I didn't order, I would have loved to have tried what I'd ordered. Although, it was the only thing from the menu that sounded slightly appealing. Looking at the presentation, the rest of the food looked tasty. However, the bacon touching the food and the smell of it really put me off. The lady asked me if I was finished, knowing fine well I'd not touched it as I'd no cutlery out. Although an apology was given, it felt grudged, she almost challenged me by getting me to repeat my order? Refusal to accept the payment for my coffee, which sounds like good will gesture. The attitude and tone spoke otherwise "we can't have you getting put off your food". That's not what the problem was, the order was wrong. To takeaway coffee is joke, the cup is filled too much, there's coffe all over the lid already when handed to me. Unless you fancy spilling it all over yourself then I'd suggest that you drink it without the provided lid. Not the most sturdy cups and an excuse of a lid that once put on it was impossible not to spill. The wonan walked away from me as I insisted on paying for my coffee. So I placed more than any of the coffees on the menu cost, in the tips jar. It was like I'd truly offended her personally. When I did nothing wrong. Perhaps she was peeved at the potential food wastage, wouldn't have happened if, like in normal eateries, they would ask if everythings ok with your food. Especially when it's put in front of you and you don't get cutlery out or eat any of the food and I'd been sitting for 5 mins that way, the lady ignored me and it's a shame. I had my hopes up.for this place, as there's a photo, the first to come up actually, of an interior of a cafe. Much to my disappointment this was far from reality. The place is small and wouldn't accommodate a large table to seat 10, or however many seats are in that picture. I suggest Google take it down. It's very misleading. I'll NEVER be returning. Not only was the menu limiting, there were some strange combinations. Very disappointed, woke up really early and was hungry. Decided to treat myself to a nice hot breakfast but came home with no food in my tummy and coffee spilt down myself. I'd recommend people who intend on visiting check the menu first. The coffee was sub par. The cleanliness was of a satisfactory standard,...

I am writing to express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience I recently had at your establishment. Despite having heard positive reviews from friends, my visit left me thoroughly disappointed and compelled to share my concerns with you.

Firstly, the main issue I encountered was the excessive saltiness of the food. While a certain level of seasoning is expected, the dishes I ordered were overwhelmingly salty, compromising the overall taste and enjoyment. It was disheartening to find such a lack of balance in the flavors, leaving me unable to fully savor the other ingredients in the dish.

Furthermore, throughout my meal, I couldn't help but notice the lack of professionalism and attentiveness from the staff. Several employees were engrossed in personal phone conversations, discussing business matters openly, and neglecting their responsibilities. This behavior not only demonstrated a disregard for customer service but also contributed to a disruptive and unprofessional atmosphere within the cafe.

Moreover, the overall ambiance of the establishment fell short of my expectations. The lighting was harsh and glaring, lacking the warmth and coziness one typically seeks in a dining setting. The noise level was particularly high due to staff conversations and the general lack of consideration for maintaining a pleasant atmosphere. As a result, my dining experience was far from enjoyable, and I found it difficult to relax and fully appreciate the meal.

As a customer who values exceptional dining experiences, I hope my feedback will be taken seriously, leading to meaningful changes within your establishment. I trust that you will address these concerns promptly and take the necessary steps to prevent such issues from recurring in the future.

I look forward to seeing improvements in these areas and to possibly reconsidering my decision to revisit your cafe.

Ps, the cafe really needs a deep clean. The walls around the seating are are filthy. Clearly never cleaned properly just a rough sweep at the...

I hate having to write something like this, but for some reason, for me, the terms of the stamp card were not respected. I was given a blank card and told that I'd get a stamp the next time I visit. Then, after asking if I could get a stamp for the two drinks I bought, I got one stamp, and was told that it's one stamp per transaction. The stamp card is just like any other, "buy 9 hot drinks, get one free." Admittedly I don't ever really cash these in for the free drink, I just like to collect them to remember the coffee shop, but this definitely gives a bad vibe that leaves me wondering why. Based on expression, I got the impression that the employee just didn't like me for some reason (I have missed a couple of nights of sleep this week, so maybe there is something not entirely ladylike about me at the moment, but I am well-groomed, and didn't do anything wrong.) Employee is Alie/Allie/Aleigh, brown, young adult, average height.

If the stamp card is one stamp per transaction, and the first transaction does not count towards a stamp, that should be reflected on the card itself. Otherwise it seems like there's some sort of selective discrimination.

Response via edit: the description of the employee is for identification. There is nothing wrong about...
