Nah not for me! Nice looking restaurant, busy on a Saturday evening. The menu was not particularly large, but that's no issue. I hoped to see some sort of Lamb shish kebab, but alas not. So I went for the Greek staple of Gyros. I got the Pork Gyros portion, meat on Pitta bread with chips. The overarching word is DRY. The chips were frozen chips that had been overcooked, you know where they sound hollow, no fluffiness inside. The pitta bread was unusual, it was yellow in colour, which makes me think it was made from corn flour perhaps, not sure. Anyway it was quite dense, certainly not made in house and again dry. The bread was served with the meat on top, but there was no lubricant on the bread, like a layer of humous or yogurt. So I would have had to take all the meat off the bread, to put some of the provided pot of tzatziki on, I found this weird. And lastly, but most importantly, the meat. The pork gyros meat was criminally dry. I have no idea how you end up with kebab meat, with so much fat in it, that dry. The meat was also not warm. The only conclusion I could come to, they must carve the meat of the rotating Doner before the restaurant opens, and then it sits all evening waiting to be served. That would explain how the food was served so fast, usually quick service is applauded but not when food is not fresh. The meat should be carved hot, of a rotating Doner. The meat was, frankly the worst pork Gyros meat I have had. Considering Gyros is a staple of Greek food, that's a pretty serious black mark for this restaurant. Further to the dry theme, we were offered no vinegar or sauce to have with our dry, overcooked chips. I also asked for some chilli sauce to have with the kebab. They didn't have any, I asked for chilli oil. None. They offered me a red pepper tapenade for £2, due to the dryness of the meal I had to accept. No spicy condiment of any sort, for a kebab, found that very odd.
With Gyros being a Greek staple, a very simple dish, being served so badly, I have no interest in going back to this restaurant to try their other dishes. There are a number of other locations serving Gyros far superior to this. I...
Read moreAfter getting a lot of recommendations for this restaurant, finally had the chance to visit recently. Its located in haymarket, very easy to get to location. Free on street parking around the restaurant. Ambience of the restaurant is quite nice.. the interiors are modern and beautiful. Restaurant was totally packed and bustling with people. The tables are placed quite close to one another so if you don't like to sit close to the next table, you may need to tell them that in advance maybe they can do something about it. You definitely need to have a reservation as the restaurant is quite popular and tends to fill up fast. we called a week ago but still couldn't get an early dinner reservation.
They have vegan, non vegetarian & vegetarian options. Very fresh ingredients and freshly prepared food. Everything they served was good. We ordered a mezze platter which as per the menu has pork gyros, chicken gyros, hummus, tzatziki etc. However, they informed pork gyros were already over and they would give us extra chicken gyros which they did. But if they are giving us a reservation for 8.45pm then they should ensure the last batch of reservation also gets everything on the menu and not hear that something is already over :) Also, we didn't get the hummus along with the platter as mentioned. But everything else that was served was quite good. Would recommend to try the mezedes which has some interesting options like the Prawn saganaki, it was delicious.
Overall, a good food experience. Will be back soon to try...
Read moreWe went to Fava at 7 PM on a Monday evening, despite this the place was fully booked and people were being turned away at the door at first we assumed this was a good sign.
Food service was fast and the portion size of the Gyros portions was good for the price however they were unable to accommodate my request of grilled veggies as a replacement for the falafel, this is a bit strange as the grilled veggies were an option for the usual Gyros wraps.
The hummus that was served with them was rather bland as was my partners Tzatziki sauce, the fries were a little overdone and the salad was very onion heavy.
Unfortunately I have to mark down the service as no one came to our table to ask how our meal was until after we had finished, the staff however did seem a little stretched with only 2 or 3 of them in front of house with one on the bar.
The restaurant itself was very noisy making having a conversation difficult with the background music simply adding to the cacophony of noise.
Furthermore the hand dryers in the bathrooms were not working and I had to use loo roll to dry my hands.
Overall a very mediocre experience and far from the best food I have had for the price which was...
