EDIT RESPONSE

A "Dog-Friendly" Experience — If Your Dog Can Teleport and Disappear We recently had the pleasure of booking a stay at this hotel, lured in by the promise of a “dog-friendly” experience. What we encountered, however, was something straight out of a satire. Unless your dog is invisible, levitates, or doesn’t require companionship or space, you may want to rethink your stay. From the moment we dared to arrive, we were greeted not with hospitality, but with a flurry of warnings about “significant charges” should our dog venture so much as a paw outside the very specific zones they begrudgingly permit. These friendly reminders were offered repeatedly—even before check-in—just in case we were considering getting comfortable. Customer service? A bold term to use here. Despite never actually stepping beyond reception, we were spoken to with a tone that could best be described as hostile, and at worst, downright disrespectful. We've stayed at many hotels, both with and without our dog, and never—not once—have we been addressed in such a condescending and aggressive manner. The treatment was so jarring that other guests actually approached us to apologize for the staff’s behaviour. Let that sink in. We decided to leave immediately, opting to lose our money rather than our sanity. We were left feeling uncomfortable, unwelcome, and quite shaken by the ordeal. To call this place “dog-friendly” is laughable. To call it customer-friendly would be pure fiction. Save yourself the stress and stay anywhere else.

EDIT RESPONSE: Dear Beach House Hotel, Thank you for your response to my review. Your response is actually inaccurate. Although I appreciate that booking via third party doesnt give you the option to select a pet, not once I was contacted prior to my arrival therefore, you wouldn't never guessed that I was bring a dog with me. This means that you are contradicting yourself there. Also, stating that I wasn't happy when I told about a charge, in fact, I wasn't never told how much it was. I was only threatened with damages charges. As I mentioned on my review, this is not the first time that I stayed at Hotels with my dog, so of course I am expecting a charge. You are making it sound like was a money problem. If that was the case, why did I leave your property fully aware that I was going to loose over £200 pounds for that night? As a business that serves clients, you need to accept that not everything goes 100% right and that the clients are allowed to have an opinion. Many thanks and...

Dog friendly, but overall so. Bit much for rural living dogs. Close to the beach. The superior room wasn't. the bed was lumpy, and the sheets were scratchy. The rooms weren't serviced, even though the welcome letter said they were. Had to ask for clean mugs and towels. You can hear everything through the paper like walls too. The rooms are way too hot, and although there was a patio door, there was no window to allow fresh air In. The toiletries supplied were very manly smelling and therefore not great if you're female. Don't eat here if you have any food allergies, intolerances, or coeliac disease. The staff appear to have woeful training in any knowledge of gluten-free foods. I asked if the nachos were gluten-free, the waitress didn't know, just pointed and said it says GF there. Later at dinner, one of the starters had GF next to it, but contained sourdough bread, I was assured it was Gf, and there was no checking with the kitchen. When I enquired if the nann could be made GF or was there an alternative, the lovely chef came out and said that yes, currys are GF and he would make some flatbread. They were amazing! Sadly Sourdough isn't Gluten Free and I was very poorly for 48 hrs. Having contacted the Coeliac Society, they advised me that sourdough isnt GF, although some establishments may say low GF, in a Coeliac it will cause them to be very ill, there is no GF sourdough available. They advised me to tell Reception and get it raised immediately. We reported it on Saturday morning, but nothing seemed to be done about it. Another worry was that the curry came with cashew nuts in the rice, no where on the menu did it mention nuts. This is a serious breach and is reportable.

The cocktails were strange, I guess they are using smaller measures than is expected. A Espresso Martini (well at the Michelin starred restaurant I was a floor manager for) the recipie is 50 ml vanilla vodka, 25 ml coffee liquer, espresso and shaken with ice. I suspect there was only 25 ml of vodka. It was a shame as its.nice.to have a pre dinner drink Needless to say we didn't eat here again.

Breakfast is just awful. there is lots of cross-contamination on the buffet table, no tonga to serve any of the pastries. The breakfasts are, allegedly, cooked to order, but it was quite clear the bacon and the scrambled eggs had been sitting under a hot plate for some time. We will definitely not be returning. It's quite clear that the hotel is being run for profit at the detriment of their...

Don’t normally leave reviews I actually think this is my first one however felt I needed to get this off my chest, please do your research about where your staying, I’d only recommend this hotel if it was your last resort!

First of all the hotel is way overpriced for what it is. The room was dirty, stains on the towels, dust and cobwebs everywhere. I have never slept in such an uncomfortable bed, mattress was virtually flat could feel everything, so we’re the pillows too, had to use 4 pillows which didn’t even feel like 2. Headboard loose with panelling missing. The noise from other rooms was just unbearable, you hear everything from snoring, arguing, tv, conversations and even people getting intimate up until hours of the early morning, so be prepared for a rubbish night sleep. Wifi is terrible, the tv is placed in a rather strange position so also be prepared to have neck ache as there wasn’t anything else to do in the hotel as bar and restaurant closed.

Our breakfast experience was rather poor, me and my partner ordered a cup of coffee and a pot of tea, I never received my coffee after asking many times, juices were empty and didn’t get refilled either. The full English wasn’t anything to rave about sausage was hard and grisly, mushrooms same, poached egg was burnt never seen a burnt poached egg in my life always a first for everything, toast was like cardboard. The service during breakfast was poor also, I appreciate that it’s a busy time for them but the two men prioritising two young women and getting a flirt in rather than attending to your customers as well felt rather rude.

On a positive note the young female receptionist was very kind and attentive! Oh and the shower was nice and warm 😀

Would I stay here again? Definitely not. Do your research and make sure you get your money’s worth. Would have a better stay in a travel lodge or even better...

This restaurant had so much potential right on the beach front of the beautiful sea houses, unfortunately the service and food were horrendous. We were made to feel unwelcome by the bar staff who didn’t greet us or inform us if they had a table. We had to navigate to find our own menus and ask for children’s menus which seemed like too much trouble for them. We ask for a dog bowl and were told aggressively “they’re all out somewhere” with no help or guidance on where is the whole building they were. The lady behind the bar ‘Lynn’ who surprisingly turned out to be the manager rolled her eyes every time we asked for something, when she was trying to get passed us to deliver food to tables and when we complained about paying £5 for the worst thinnest and hardest piece of garlic bread for my daughter. The service all round was shocking after asking Lynn about the garlic bread she just told me again aggressively that the chef prices stuff so it was on them basically however if she was the manager she should have tried to resolve the issue it wasn’t necessarily about the cost more that there wasn’t enough for the price and that it was rock hard! She ended up sending her staff to sort it with us and disappeared after the complaint with no sorry or resolution we didn’t see her again for the rest of the meal. We’d walked for 2 hours and were ready to sit and spend some good money on food and drinks but after the revel we got we fed our daughter had a drink each ans left and we would not come back! There’s so many nice places to eat and drink with friendly staff so don’t waste your time or money here and Lynn get another job preferably not in customer service! The worst we’ve ever had anywhere! Unwelcoming/unfriendly and unprofessional.

My wife and I stayed at the Beach House for two nights in September 2024. We both really enjoyed our stay here. The location is faultless, right on the beach road with stunning views of the sea and the Farne Islands. The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We felt very welcome here. The onsite bar and restaurant were excellent and we were so grateful to have these options available. The room was quite small but well equipped and very comfortable. French doors opened to a small shared garden that were able to let some lovely fresh air into the room. Curtains were drawn for privacy when we needed it. Breakfast each day was wonderful. Full English cooked to order, with pastries, juice, tea, coffee all available. The dining room was clean and not too cramped, and had the most incredible view of the ocean. Starting the day with that never got old. The bar was excellent, with the barman able to rustle up a long list of cocktails. He was a really friendly guy and we chatted quite a bit both nights. A real boon to a small hotel off the beaten tracks a bit. We walked up to town one evening, a really pleasant stroll along the path, with view of Bamburgh Castle in the distance. The small town has a few interesting little places to look at. Parking is a little tight, but manageable. At least it is on-site and off the street. All in all a really enjoyable stay and wouldn't have changed anything. Its a short drive to Bamburgh, conveniently remote and peaceful, with tranquil relaxation.

Really lovely views, room felt stuffy and rather small for the £148 stay inc breakfast. No air con so it felt stuffy, but bed was comfy. Lots to see and do around this area. Boat trips around the Farne islands, Bamburgh Castle is a 3 mile walk and Lindisfarne is short drive away with some English heritage museum and priory ruins, and the main castle is National Trust and only accessible by 30 min walk from the car park, costing around £7 for the minimum 3 hour stay. 3 hours was enough, as the causeway is tidal and we had to be off the island by 1:45pm otherwise it costs £1,000 to be rescued! Overall nice place and the food at the local 'Ship Inn' was very nice and reasonably priced. High street is a mish mash of the usual shops selling fridge magnets and expensive Dunoon mugs costing as much as £28 each, tea towels.£14 each! Hard to see how these shops stay afloat, as not many people are buying more stuff to populate their fireplaces and shelves at home.
