Have had an absolutely traumatising experience. Booked through booking.com. The check in time is mentioned as 4 pm, and as is standard practice, we hoped to leave our luggage there earlier so we could still enjoy our day. We arrived at the property around 2 pm. And rang the doorbell and tried calling the listed number and left a voicemail—no response for about 20 mins. So I went round back where there were tables and chairs and the guest parking. The door round back was open and I could see the reception desk. So I stood at the door and called in. The “manager” of the property lurched out screaming at me for having entered his home. Btw, this is the same building and foyer as the Bluebell House with no indication saying that it’s a private residence of the owner/manager. I apologised profusely explaining I didn’t mean to enter the Private area and that I was only looking for someone to talk to at the property. My husband was waiting out front with no idea what’s going on. Still, this gentleman went out the front door and started shouting and accusing even my husband who had not set foot in the building of trespassing and threatened to call the police on us. We continued apologising in order to diffuse the situation. He then slammed the door saying there is no way he would let us stay there. Of course, I did report this incident to booking.com. We were stranded with no place to stay, having being completely traumatised and humiliated in a country we are only visiting. Should we have just left assuming no ones in and reported it? Sure. Did I walk round the back to the guest parking area in good faith hoping to find someone to talk to? Yes. Was it a genuine mistake to assume the property is also not a private home? Yes. I am leaving this review because as a woman and a person of colour, I do believe someone else could have been faced with the situation I have been today. Having read all the positive reviews about how accommodating the host is I cannot help thinking the behaviour of the host was violently racist. 6 hours into our time at Inverness, we have only now found alternate accommodation and missed our plans for the day. If I was traveling alone without my husband, I worry about the situation I...
Read moreThis is a lovely, classic Bed and Breakfast. We stayed in the Lavender Room and the room itself was spacious. The bathroom was cozy with a decent shower stall. The room contained a small fridge, electric kettle (with a refreshed bottle of water for it each day), TV, etc. The bed is a British King--closer to an American Queen. The location is just two short blocks from the River Ness and all the town has to offer--easy access to the wonderful River Walk. It is in a section of town that is chocked full of B&Bs. One selects one's breakfast time (served between 7 and 9am) and menu the day before and the options are very good (including a wee dram of Drambuie to go with your porridge!). If you have dietary restrictions, you'll need to explain them in detail as you check in so that the Innkeeper can prepare. We found the rooms clean and tidy--see the pics on the website. The Innkeeper is not kidding about the check-in time: only after 4pm. We tried to drop our luggage off early and there was no response and the Innkeeper reminded us later, when we checked in, about his website and communications with us upon reserving the room making these policies clear. We had attempted to communicate from our side with him about our dietary needs and, although he generically responded, we still needed a detailed chat about the dietary restrictions. Expect to take care of everything...
Read moreThis was our second time in 2 years staying at Bluebell. Its so lovely we came back! Was most warmly greeted by Kenny our host and offered a much need beer in the garden which was lovely. We stayed in the Bluebell room, which has a four poster bed extremly comfortable, a lovely bathroom with shower and toiletries, a full to bursting tea and coffee tray. The lovely touches of chocolates by the bed and caramel wafers in the tea tray which are topped up daily. Kenny has wide knowledge of the area and recommends places to go. We were up in Inverness mainly to meet our newest family members which was wonderful. The Bluebell is ideally situated with a 5 min walk over the footbridge into Inverness centre, ideal for resteraunts, shops and bars. Breakfast is hearty with a cooked breakfast, toast, juice or you can choose porridge with a wee dram, greek yoghurt topped with granola and banana., served with tea or coffee. I recommend the Bluebell , lovely Host Kenny, and an ideal location in such an outstanding...
