Firstly the lady who owns this place .. before we had even arrived we had a very rude phone call from the lady saying that we had stated we will be there between one and two pm where were we coz she’s been sat there waiting! ( 3pm ) we was actually stuck in traffic from Leicester to this destination from 7 am. I apologied and was told to call when we were nearby. So not a great start.||At 7.43 am that morning my bank notifies me that I have PAID £95 for my room. Think nothing else of it and have our night there.||We were top floor room seven. The bathroom has NO extractor fan and smells like something I’ve never smelled in my life so the bathroom door was not opened nor did we use the shower. We held our nose for a morning pee.||Double bed is very comfortable so were you the pillows||Breakfast was not very nice at all the, Poor quality sausages beans that tasted weird edible though||As I was leaving I was told we have to pay I told them I’ve already paid. Showed in the notification on my phone to say paid £95 to …. at 7:43 am||Well the lady is rude, rude, rude ! She made me feel like I was a villain who was trying to not pay she stated it’s pay@ the property and booking..com had taken it out and I still need to pay them. That the booking.com one is only pending and will be back in my account. It wasn’t back in my account ! I only put in the £95 onto my prepaid credit card to pay for the room, this was still showing as pending from the 743am transaction on Friday morning meaning I had no money to make another payment. I signed up for £95 room and NOT a 190 room and get half back in a week or two.||They DETAINED is for just over TWO HOURS. I said multiple times can we go now and the lady snapped so viciously with no. You haven't paid. We stood in the kitchen why they tried to call booking.com countless times. in the end I got cross and told them we was leaving. It was really really really embarrassing. All the other guests weee listening. I had done nothing wrong and I was made to feel like I was some sort of criminal. The lady who runs this needs to take a long hard look at her attitude towards guest.||The location of this place is pretty damn good. But you have to let things slide with the hostess who’s basically just rude by nature.||Air extractor fans are a basic necessity in the bathroom. The smell from the bathroom quickly filled the room with the awful smell If bathroom door was left open!! Please don’t mistake the awful smell in bathroom as me saying this place is dirty. It just isn’t ! It’s clean and comfy !||To the gentlemen who runs this with cruella. As soon as the 95.00 is back in my account from||being taken out Friday morning. ( Monday morning 7am still not back to me. See photo below ) I will pay you directly with it. Like I stated to you time and time again when we wasn't being allowed to leave.||If you would like to state that I am lying ( like you just did on booking.com review, stating you did not detain us, I have plenty of videos showing your wife angrily telling us we cannot leave. we haven’t paid. I will happily post these also to show exactly how your wife speaks...
Read moreMixed feelings about this place. Let’s break it down (Room 5, 2nd floor front, £85pn)
Pros Very clean and tidy Nicely decorated room Mini fridge in room (albeit switched off upon arrival so plug it in if you want to use it) Great sea view from the room Ideal location close to seafront Comfy beds Delicious breakfast (although no offering on how you want your eggs - luckily I do love mine runny!) Wi-Fi was fine
Cons Rude “welcome” by Lynda. She said “You woke me up! Just thought I’d rest for 5 mins”, despite having texted her shortly prior confirming it was ok for us to come now, to which she said “yes I’m home now”, so a poor attitude, poor people skills, and not bubbly at all. Gary on the other hand pleasant, offering to take our bags upstairs. No toilet roll holder - it’s the little things … No towel rail, just a single hook for a two bed room, so it was hard to dry the towels (had to hang one on wardrobe door handle) No biscuits or shower gels / shampoos, maybe I’m nitpicking there The bath towels were pretty small No extractor fan in the bathroom, that’s just a basic ventilation requirement to keep the property damp-free Shower takes c3 minutes for hot water to come through, and is not powerful at all, but it’s not a major problem Bathroom overall is very small and claustrophobic, especially compared to the size of the room itself. Can barely sit on toilet comfortably and the toilet seat doesn’t go back far enough so it will keep falling down until you find that optimum angle for it to stay up.
As you can see, most of the issues relate to the bathroom, for which some aspects can be improved relatively quickly and easily (e.g. cheap toilet roll holder, another towel hook, etc.) One thing that definitely needs addressing though is the attitude. I think it was fitting that there was no ‘welcome pack’ at all.
Overall I think it’s probably worth the money and based on the location, bedroom quality and nice breakfast it probably reflects the price, but, ironically, having basic manners comes free. I don’t think it would win Four in a Bed.
I write these detailed reviews so as to provide my honest feedback and the truth, and to hopefully enable feasible opportunities for the business to improve, and not for me to just sound like I’m complaining. I hope I’ve achieved that in this review and that the owner sees...
Read moreIn short, well located if you're doing the Ironman 70.3 but we wouldn't recommend.
Pros: Ideal location if you're doing the Weymouth 70.3 Ironman. Minutes from the finish line, and great to be so close to the sea!
The room was comfortable with lots of storage
Cons: We didn't find the owners to be very friendly or approachable (for example, on entering the B n B on the second day of the stay, two guests in our party were greeted by the owner with "who are you?" as the owner didn't recognise us from previous day; owner also said it wasn't worth cooking breakfast for just one guest, as all other guests in the B n B were heading out early for the Ironman, despite the fact we'd paid for this).
The website offers free parking but when we arrived we were told they have a limited number of permits and they'd given all of them out already. Nearby car parks have limited time stays and are expensive.
Although the room (room 5) was comfortable, it wasn't very practical (for example, the rail in the wardrobe is fitted so close to the shelf above, it was difficult to hang anything in the wardrobe; and nowhere to hang towels...
