The most embarrassing, generalising, discriminating and upsetting service I have ever received! This evening, I went to The Old Rooms in Weymouth to have a meal and some drinks with my Cousin. I am a key-worker and had just finished a long hard shift. Seeing as we are heading into Tier 3 and it would be safer to not see each other for a while, I got dressed up and we decided to make a little event out of it. I was actually pretty excited to spend some time and have a bit of fun, seeing as it’s been thoroughly lacking lately. We headed into this great looking pub, ordered some food, and then we ordered a few drinks and shots each as we thought you could only get them at the time you were ordering your meal (we don’t get out much, is that how it works?). We were then told that we were too drunk to be served alcohol, and thus food... I can safely say that I was, and now still am, stone cold sober. I cannot describe how being thrown out for something I hadn’t done has made me feel, especially after putting in the effort after the long day and feeling like I could finally relax, have some nice food and drinks, and catch-up properly. I am embarrassed, I am upset, I am disgusted at the behaviour and attitude of the manager at the pub. I honestly can’t believe it. We are sober - I drove to be here and I was planning on staying at my cousins after. There are two of us, it’s not like we’re a rowdy drunk party. We might be looking to get a little tipsy, but since when was that something to be thrown out for? I have never felt so insulted in my life, and my cousin who has really bad anxiety has just been given a massive blow... he’s not going to want to come out again for months, even if he’s allowed. This is disgusting service, for which they should be held accountable, but likely won’t. I would not recommend, not if you want to be yourself and...
Read moreUpdate: Bizarrely, I have just eventually had a reply claiming to have dealt with my concerns directly? I have heard nothing from anyone at the Old Rooms or Greene King, so assume they have contacted another person who had complained about the same thing? ‐--------------------------- My wife and I always go here for a few drinks when visiting Weymouth. Our thoughts about it have changed though.
Recently we took a few friends who walked out after being ignored at the bar for 10 minutes. It was not that busy so no excuse. The outdoor seating area was grubby too, not just a day's mess, but weeks. Embarrassing for us as we had 'bigged it up' to them.
A couple of days ago we went in whilst in the area and had a couple of rounds, but then, when I ordered a cocktail which was advertised at £4.99 on a large board on the wall. I was charged £5.99. I queried this but was told that the board "must be old". ( looked new to me and was painted, not chalked). The barmaid was pleasant enough and the drink was nice and I didnt want to make a fuss.
Fancied another cocktail so again asked a passing staff member if it would be £4.99, as on the board and was told yes, it would. A minute later, he came back, said the board is old and the chap tried to pull it off the wall but it was well screwed on.
He said he had checked at the bar and it was £5.99. We didnt bother with any more drinks and left. I can only assume that all the other boards advertising food are also 'old', so best ignored. It's only £1, but that's each drink and I'm sure if I wanted to underpay by a £1 each time, I wouldnt be able to. They should have honoured the advertised price, same as anywhere else would have had to. It has put us off going...
Read moreWe booked a table for 4 online, when we arrived our table was reserved and available, we sat down and had to wipe the table down as it was sticky. We ordered our drinks via the app, after about 15mins of waiting I asked a member of staff if he knew when I drinks would arrive, he said he would check and return 5mins later with our drinks. I then ordered 4 meals again using the app (the app stated waiting time was 20mins for food) after waiting for 45mins, I approached the bar, (this was covered in about 40 used glasses waiting to be washed) I checked on our food to be advised or would be delivered to our table straight away (and it was) *The 8oz gammon was cooked well, but hadn't been left to rest before plating so all the juices made the chips extremely soggy, the peas were hard. *The Mac and cheese dish was ok, The Scampi and chips (scampi was overcooked) *The fish and chips was disappointing, considering we are by the harbour, unfortunately the fish was not very nice, mushy fish and tasteless The one and only waitress/food runner asked how our food was, I said it was mediocre at best, she didn't understand so asked me to repeat , so I did, she just stared at me, so I said the food is basic, she then frowned and walked away like it was my problem. They seemed under staffed, 2 behind the bar and one waitress/food runner as the glasses on the bar and tables that had used plates on from previous guests. The tap in the ladies was broken, and the toilets needed a good clean, Would we return? For food definitely not, which is a shame, as we use to eat here a lot, but the quality has good down hill. For drinks, yes but won't use the...
