I booked a table for two here about half an hour before arriving. My expectations of a Harvester are never especially high. The food is generally of an acceptable quality and the service can be hit or miss. On this occasion, however - my first visit to the Durley Inn - I was very pleasantly surprised. It was clear that at 4.30pm (so long after lunch and with a while to go until dinner), there wasn’t a massive staff presence. Staff were rushed off their feet whilst attending to so many customers but they still delivered a very friendly and attentive service. Our server, Emilia, was brilliant. Despite a busy restaurant, she made the time to chat, recommend dishes and knew the menu well. Little things in a restaurant can make the world of difference - we received an apology for the short time taken to reach us and we were asked about the enjoyment of our meals. The salad bar was well stocked and fresh and the portion size was enormous too. The bread rolls weren’t the best - tasting like they’d been there a while - so after one bite, I was done. The main meals were good. Again, a good portion size and the Simply Chicken could be doubled up for just £1.99 so very reasonable. My choice was the half chicken with chips, corn and gravy. The chicken was great, again tasted very fresh, and it was very filling too. I had started on the meal by the time I took the photograph - it wasn’t delivered looking so sparse! So great service and probably the best setting for a Harvester as well, sitting right on the beach, with lovely views over the water and towards the setting sun.

Went to Durley inn harvester in Bournemouth, It's along the seafront from Bournemouth pier walking along to the right hand side, it is a large harvester with plenty of indoor seating and outdoor seating too, The food is good and hot and doesn't take long to arrive at your table, The deserts are good also, and definitely not forgetting the harvester salad cart, which as with other harvesters is free with the purchase of a main meal and unlimited, they do refill drinks, pay one price per refill and visit the drink machine as many times as you want, Prices are reasonable, And most of the front of the building is big windows so you can enjoy the nice sea views, Bournemouth is a sandy beach and stretches a long way and goes past this harvester, there is some parking around the corner nearby to it, there are charges to park there by pay at machine meters, Definitely worth a visit to enjoy the food and atmosphere there, Been there before this visit and will definitely visit again, We were in Bournemouth because our daughter will be attending Bournemouth university there, Date of our visit was Tuesday 3rd of September 2024, Highly recommend to visit, The service was attentive and helpful too,

I'm quite fair with reviews and I leave a lot of positive one's but this has got to have been our worst ever visit to a Harvester!!! So from the time arrives there was problem after problem. We went for my birthday and requested a table in the windows, there's lots of windows with a great view of the beach! We were sat away from the windows and when asked if we could move by the window the manager Adam told us there was no spaces available. Upon arrival there was 4 x tables of 4 empty, while we were there (3 hours!!) 2 were used but not pre booked. We did pre book and asked if we could have one of these empty tables, eventually he said we could have 1 after a lot of walking backwards and forwards, waiting about and standing about (I'm disabled and this hurt a lot!) So we ordered our drinks and food after quite a wait. This is where things got worse!! They messed up our order, my daughter ordered a kids meal (she's 15 but a fussy eater) she ordered a kids meal and the waitress ordered her the one for 5yr old. My husband ordered a meal and the waitress had put each item through as a side so a side of chips, side of beans and side of halloumi sticks however one the halloumi sticks arrived. We questioned this and had to wait for the meal to be cooked, when it arrived the halloumi was only half battered and over cooked. The guy who brought the food over didn't speak English! We then had missing sweet potato fries and found out my daughter was given a smaller kids meal when we asked about this we never actually got a reply, the mashed potato was really chewy and had big hard lumps. We finished eating and ended up stacking the plates at the end of the table they sat there for nearly an hour, we had to ask for the dessert menu then was waiting another half a hour for the order to be taken. When the pudding did arrive items were missing and the waitress said its because the chef is ill!! We chased up the bill after we had long finished and just wanted to hurry up and leave. We get the bill and that's then wrong and we were charged for things we never had! The waitress said she had told someone else to take them off the bill and would sort it out. At no point did we ever get an apology for anything that had clearly gone wrong! The waitresses name I believe was Gislaine however with no name tag and staff with no uniform it was a guessing game. Needless to say we will not be returning! The food is adequate and the service is awful. We have been there in the past and even then it wasn't great, I had hoped they would have improved but seems the opposite.

I’ve been frequenting this Harvester occasionally since 2013, maybe using it 4/5 times I would guesstimate and the reason is purely down to it’s location - fantastic! Right on the beach. A short walk from the Pier (say 10 mins perhaps) however it also has it’s own parking in Durley Chine with reasonable charges. If it’s a nice day the outdoor terraces are the place to be, especially for a refreshing drink. The food I have mixed experiences of, unfortunately. As with any Harvester I visit I find the food is “okay” but nothing special - with the exception of their Gammon option which is very good, but otherwise very mediocre. For our most recent visit at the weekend (March 2023) we just wanted a light option so chose 4x Tapas dishes for £16.99 and added a couple or re-fillable drinks which really stump up the bill!! But anyway, the food was ok, it was about the location than anything else for us as we wanted to walk to Sandbanks. Our server was polite and professional enough but service was slow, we were sat for at least 25 mins before we even got our drinks. Granted they were busy, and I would assume understaffed as staff were whizzing around fast - so I’m not blaming them! As a side note, if you’re older and have a problem with cold drafts then this place may not be for you! The men’s toilets were clean and done out to a good standard, although the toilet cubical is a very odd shape, not sure I’d easily be able to do a poo in there comfortably! (Luckily I didn’t need to try!!) My partner said the ladies toilets were just about ok but not great cleanliness wise, but like I say it was busy.

What an experience. 1, you rock up at the appointed time. (it was almost empty with very very few customers). They escorted us to our table. 2 We oder our meal. 3.We order our drinks. So far so good. Then the fun starts. Our meals turn up in an agreeable time. My dirty burger was very nice, but the salmon for my wife was raw. They kindly took it away and cooked a new meal. I had completely finished my meal by time they replaced a properly cooked salmon for my wife. As I'm waiting, I order another drink. Nope, that didn't happen. I asked another member of staff, they went and got the drink. They did give my wife a free drink and deducted the cost of the salmon from the bill. Then the bill. We'll, the staff resolved all the issues, so I decided to pay a tip to say thank you for trying so hard to resolve the issues. I paid the bill, + a tip. Then they said I hadn't paid enough. I showed the lady the bill and that I had paid more. It turned out that they had charged me for another table. They refunded the money and then asked me to pay the correct bill. No tip this time as I had had enough. As much as they resolved all the issues, was it a training need of a management issue I'm not sure. I WILL NOT GO BACK. If they struggle with half a dozen customers, how the hell will they cope if it got busy.

Lovely place, great Sea view, delicious food. We were in Bournemouth for a 4 day holiday, we had dinner here the first night. Dinner me and my mum had the 1983 Harvester Combo, which we enjoyed, the Chips with Onion and Sage seasoning are delicious 😋 really enjoyed them, my Dad had the Smoked BBQ Pork Belly, he really enjoyed it too. We were served by a lovely brunette lady, didn't know her name but her customer service was great, nice and smiley. The next morning came here for Breakfast, I had the Breakfast muffin with Sausage, Egg and Cheese and 2 Hashbrowns and it was delicious, really enjoyed it. Mum and Dad had Big Breakfast. And on our last morning we came for Breakfast again since we enjoyed it so much. I had the same again, only this time I had the seasoned chips with it because I enjoyed them so much when we came for Dinner before. 😋 Lovely Breakfast meal, and great customer service by Kim both mornings 😁
