Visited here on a Friday night, about 630pm and it was dead. 2 tables with shisha outside and only 1 other table came in to eat, so the vibe was dead.
Staff were polite and helpful.
Food arrived, it looked good but the taste was as bland as cardboard. The falafel was so dry it absolutely needed the houmous with it. Over processed and no texture to it. The rice was plain and added nothing to the dish. Best thing on the plate was the pickled onions.
The lamb kebab my husband had doesn't have much of a better review. This also had no flavour and needed the chilli sauce requested. He also ordered a cocktail, a long island iced tea, and with 4 shots in it, you know when you've had a LIIT. This, nope. It came with a pile of crushed ice on top that created a pool of water on the table when it melted as the glass was overflowing. The drink was at the bottom but couldn't be stirred. Once the black layer was drunk through the straw, he was left with 3/4 glass of water/ice. We like a cocktail, this was in amongst the worst we've had.
Now onto the atmosphere- the decor is nice, it has the makings of a decent place with a little more TLC - blown windows could be replaced, a bit more cleaning and the VIP area looking a but more VIP. I've established it was dead but that would ordinarily be fine if you could sit and enjoy a (nice) meal together but there was an owner/family/friend in near the bar at a table who was very loud and playing with a child like it was their living room. This made for a very unpleasant dining experience and the ambience was non-existent. There was no consideration to customer dining experience. We couldn't wait to leave so much that upon finishing our last mouthful, I was up at the bar paying so we could make a quick exit. I wasn't even asked how the meal was or if everything was OK.
In hindsight we should have taken the hint that no-one else was in there, even at 6/630 other restaurants around had a decent customer level, we just fancied a Turkish. Think we would have enjoyed a...
Read moreI visited Nala Lounge twice during a short stay in Bournemouth. First with my family of 4, and the second time was with a group of about 50+ people.
The first time with my family was good. It was a Thursday afternoon and there weren't many guest there. The food was ok and so was the service. The second time was a pre-booked dinner for 50+ people and it wasn't great.
They didn't seem prepared even as it was pre-booked. The first set of food took 90 minutes to arrive and everything else came long afterwards. The waiters weren't sure of what food was coming next and who the order was meant for - they were simply dropping the food on the table, leaving us to figure things out.
I actually felt sorry for the waiters because it seemed they had turned up for a normal shift at work only to be met with a large crowd with little or no information as to what to do in that situation. Honestly, the management at Nala Lounge could have done better for their guest and staff. In the end, we the guest started rejecting the food as it seemed like too much of a hassle to figure things out. It was quite disappointing.
My verdict is that this restaurant is suitable for smaller groups of people as that was a better experience for me. I've added photos from the first visit which was the...
Read moreStayed in Bournemouth for a few days and was staying near this restaurant. We wanted a family run restaurant not a chain. I love Turkish food, so this looked right up our street. We didn't have to book but it was a Wednesday night out of season and not very busy. I think on busy night it would be buzzing. The menu looked nice, it was not a large so we thought the quality would be good. We both went for lamb chops. It came up and looked lovley. I had it with chips, my friend with rice. It came with salad on the plate and a plate of salad. The chops sat on a bed of pitta. I was really looking forward to it. However, was very disappointed. Firstly there was not dips or sauce, so I asked for mayo. The chops though were tough and really dry. I really struggled to chew through them. Very over cooked. Such a shame because it's not hard to cook lamb cutlets. I love lamb which should be cooked a little pink. I didn't say anything as we just ate what we could and paid and left. We didn't want to sit and wait for more. Maybe other dishes are better or maybe just a bad day. Everything else was ok. Such a shame because it could have been...
