It's a bit of a wind down some skinny roads, if you're not from Scotland, to make your way to Braeside House, but once you've survived the drive through Loch Lomond, it's a welcome rest. Paul comes out to greet you, share a joke or two, and then introduce you to your accomodations -- warm, welcoming, and surprisingly quiet, for having a house full of hikers and travelers.
This is a great place to kickstart your trip down the Highland Trail (go with the haggis for breakfast!), or lodge up for the weekend of exploring the delights of Fort William. Speaking of, talk to Aileen -- she has an amazing memory for trails, walks, and daytrips and provides practically turn-by-turn directions from memory!

Read moreBraeside house is one of the most beautiful properties I’ve ever stayed in. From the moment we stepped inside, the attention to detail and thoughtful additions in every single room was just incredible. It really does have everything you could want or imagine, from a stunning view over the balcony, a fire pit in the garden, even an outside dog shower! The hosts were so helpful and accommodating, answering all our questions about the area and allowing us to bring our large dogs. The location was quiet, and walkable to the nearest supermarket and shops. Ben Nevis was a short drive away, and an endless amount of beautiful scenery in whichever direction. My partner and I also took our mountain bikes and had a wonderful 42 mile ride along the canal nearby followed by woodland and a Loch to enjoy the views of. I can’t recommend this property enough, if you’re curious about Scotland -...
Read moreI recently spent 5 nights at this lovely property in Fort William. The house caters for everything. There were 6 adults with a small infant of 7 months old, and it catered for the Little one as well, a cot as well as high chair was provided. It has amazing laundry facilities together with an awesome kitchen and lounge area, above a wonderful pub area with a pool table. Very comfy rooms. Together with a very warm and inviting house it has fantastic outdoor facilities like a fire pit and barbecue area with amazing views. I like telling people that when i leave home i want to stay somewhere that is as comfortable or better than my home and being fortunate enough to having a very comfortable home, Braeside certainly met the brief. I will certainly return given another opportunity to travel from South Africa to Bonny...
