Very disappointing experience!
Customer service was severely lacking here, unfortunately.
We visited on a busy day, as it was during the Brecon Jazz Festival.
The first meal I chose from the menu, I was told they'd run out of it. That's fair enough, these things happen. I chose something different from the menu, and we paid for our meals. A few minutes later, a member of staff came out and told me that they had just sold the last of the new meal I'd chosen. Frustrating, but again, these things happen. I was invited to come inside the shop (we were sitting outdoors) and see if there was a pasty I'd like instead. I chose a pasty, which cost less than the meal I'd originally chosen. I wasn't offered a refund of the difference in cost! When I mentioned it, the staff member suggested I get an extra item to make up the cost! What a strange way to resolve an issue which was their fault - I should have been offered a full refund, not been made to choose something extra. Still, not wanting to make a fuss, I chose a packet of crisps (I was still technically 20p out of pocket, but I couldn't be bothered to quibble over this). We started eating our food, which was ok, but overpriced for the small portion sizes, then part way through our meal, my husband remembered that the child's meal which we'd ordered for our son, was supposed to include fruit and crisps, neither of which we'd been given. He went back inside to enquire about this, and was told they would be brought to us - but no apology whatsoever!! What a strange way to treat customers who had already been messed around quite a lot.
I certainly won't be visiting this cafe/shop again unless there is absolutely nowhere else...
Read moreWhat an absolute gem of a place, 2 of us went to Brecon Town for a day out to wonder on a Sunday not realising it was a lot quieter than when we briefly popped there a few Saturdays before, we were aimlessly walking around looking for a bit of breakfast, usual places doing coffee and paninis but we wanted something more, came across this place popped our head in to be greeted by lovely staff and a lovely deli counter, didn't think it did breakfast so asked if there's anywhere around that does a nice breakfast only for the chef to rope us in saying we're in the right place, he took us upstairs to a cute little seating area, gave us a lovely sounding menu, went for the works on a full breakfast and OMG the chef wasn't lying when he said we were in the right place, breakfast done to perfection, tasty, well presented, lovely service and charm from the staff, what ever the chef is being paid double it, great food, great personality and all round great experience. Will definitely be looking forward to popping in again. If a place is worth raving about I'll rave...
Read moreI really want to like this place as it is on my road, but after several tries I have concluded that the business is more or less aimed at visitors to the town. It is pretty expensive and the quality is not that exceptional to justify this. For example, I paid £4 for a loaf from the deli that was described as sourdough, but turned out to be what is described in the biz as 'sourfaux', bread made using commercial bakers yeast, pretty much in line with what you would get in a supermarket for less than half the price. Coffee also not really up to scratch considering £3.75 a cup. Really nice people working there though, so best of...
