During the summer holiday this student accommodation offers a hotel like place to stay. It's obviously not to be compared with an expensive hotel but you get a bed, desk, storage space and a bassin in the room. On top of that there is a fan, alarm clock, and tea/coffee facilities plus a chair in each room. The non-enclosed rooms have shared toilet and shower, these are near the room and you share 2 toilet + 2 showers for about 8-10 rooms I think. I never had to wait for a shower or toilet during a full week and showers in the morning and evening. There is an elevator and you can store you bags in the hotel before check-in / after check-out. In the lobby there are a few internet terminals and there is wifi for 5 pound (for the whole period of your stay) and fixed cable connection in the rooms. The wifi reception is very good (and I noticed professional cisco antennas throughout the building + a good integrated management system at the reception so it is managed very well). The building serves as student accomodation during the year so you can only stay here during the summer vacartion. On the positive side this means that everything is managed very well, they know what they are doing. You see mostly students working there, the security (with patrols and electronic access cards plus secured room keys) is quite impressive but does not feel like a hassle). Breakfast is served in a separate building, about 3 minutes walking and is in a very big cafeteria style, don't expect too much but it was not too bad. The price was very good (I paid about 200 pound for 6 nights / the advertised prices are 68/nigh for the cheapest room). The location is plain perfect according to me, 10 min walk to the tube station, a few bus stops withing 30 sec - a few min walking and next to the Albert hall, V&A, science museum; Nature history museum and hyde parc. I liked the...
Read moreWe stayed here just for one night after attending the BST Bruno Mars concert at Hyde Park. It's very close to tube stations & Royal Albert Hall is virtually next door. Hyde Park is a short walk away. Staff on the check in desk were friendly & helpful. Our room was on the first floor of the East wing, there were some stairs to go up & some long corridors to negiotiate but there are lifts if you need them. The room was clean & spacious with 2 large firm single beds & a private ensuite with shower. Tea making facilities were provided including 2 bottles of water but we took extra water as it was very hot when we went. Also there were fans in the room which were needed as it was quite warm but it soon cooled down with the fans which we kept on all night. The room we had was very quiet & we wasn't woken by any noise. We did not eat on site or use the bar facilities so cannot comment on those but it looked busy with people sitting outside eating & drinking so to me always a good sign. We had room only as we decided to go for breakfast in a cafe just by the station so we could have more of a lay in! Check out is at 10am. Would recommend this for a short stay of one or two nights, very good value for money in an ideal location, would...
Read moreI just stayed two weeks in this wonderful location. The staff were very helpful and attentive from check-in to check-out and everything in between. The room was exactly as I expected a dorm room to be with bed, desk and large floor to ceiling cabinet to store my things (no TV but one was in the lobby). It was supplied with a surge bar to plug in multiple devices at once but be sure to bring your converters (British 3 prong required). My room was cleaned daily and staff was very visible all hours to attend to any need. The wireless internet was marvelous! I was able to Skype home for free and do my usual on-line FTP office work from my room with no difficulty. The FREE breakfast was amazing with so many choices of five hot items, fresh fruit, breads, cereals and more. The pub in the quadrangle had good food (fish & chips, cheeseburger, lasagna) for about 5 pounds to takeaway in the evening. The location was the best part. With it being right next to the Royal Albert Hall, GPS/Citymapper was easy to plot your travels. Kensington High Street is an upper class neighborhood, close to Harrods and had the perfect "small town" atmosphere but only minutes from everything. Thank you, Beit, for a great London adventure.
