This place is absolutely atrocious! The staff are barely present and really don't do anything to try to mingle or help the guests who are staying there unite in any way, they are way too busy mingling amongst themselves and doing the bare minimum in their own jobs as basic, uneducated, no customer service oriented homeless losers do. Also, they have no activities at all which was quite disappointing for a hostel of their size. The actual property is disgustingly filthy and dilapidated. This hostel resembles a homeless shelter rather than an actual hostel. They talk about how they deep clean each day, yet I don't know exactly who's standard of deep cleaning is leaving the property with tumbleweeds of dust and grime, bed bugs, roaches, mice, dirty and stained bed linens, filthy bathrooms that smell of sewer and feces, disgusting floors and tables that are sticky with the residue of substances unknown, and unkept, untidy and supremely gross common areas that you feel almost uncomfortable to sit down in, let alone enjoy. If you say you do deep clean and yet there are 2 inches of dust under each bed and the bathrooms are atrocious with hair, throw-up, dirty towels, leftover shampoo bottles, garbage, the smell of mold and feces, then that is not cleaning. The bathrooms are atrocious. The kitchen is abysmal. And what makes this location even more disgusting is the horrible treatment by the property manager, trash that needs to be taken out, to the paying guests. If you complain, they will try to make you out to be the bad guy, disrespect you, and ban you from the property. Mind you it's not a big deal to be banned from what seems to be a crackhead hostel or homeless shelter, but it is quite disgusting the audacity of the property manager. The fact that they choose to treat pained customers with an opinion about the disgusting garbage humans that work there and the atrocious standards of the cleaning staff like garbage because they are...

I was very torn while writing this review cause the locations so amazing that I wanted to love it but there were a few things that let it down. So let’s start with the positives - The facade of this building is absolutely stunning, walking through the surrounding streets is everything you dream of when you think of visiting London. Which is very lucky in this hostels case cause I honestly have to say the location and friendly staff is all it had going for it. It brought me so much joy each time I stepped out onto the beautiful street. In spite of everything l'd possibly stay again just to have that beautiful "London" feeling. However, while giving the appearance of being tidy the hostel didn't seem to actually be clean, down the side of the bed was all rubbish, dirt and lost belongs from previous residents and the shower/ shower curtain was all mouldy for the entirety of my stay giving the feeling like the room had been tidied but not necessarily cleaned. Seeing they'd skimped on cleaning these made me wonder what else hadn't been cleaned. I went back and rechecked my booking and it noted soundproofing of which there is zero, it's quite possibly the noisiest place l've ever stayed and was lucky to get a solid 2 hours of sleep. You can hear every minute movement from upstairs and the rooms besides yours like it's amplified and from 3 am each night people were slamming doors, running around and shouting at each other. I ended up napping in the day while people were out to get some sleep as I would inevitably be up from 3am onwards when the tornado upstairs starts. All in all is it worth 141 AUD a night, if you're willing to take the incredible scenery at the cost of cleanliness and sleep then yes. Might give it another chance in the off season to see if it’s quieter and...

I was really looking forward to staying at this hostel because of the prime location. Turns out, the shower in the 4 bedroom all female dorm was covered with black mold, smelled rancid due to the mold, the bedsheets were stained with blood (not mine), and it was just all dirty. I checked in for one night and left immediately the following morning as I had gotten a sore throat and was furious with the poor living conditions. I emailed their hostel email address two days ago, and didn’t hear anything back until this morning, where they completely disregarded my initial email and asked me to rate them 5/5 stars on google reviews. I will not be giving them a 5/5 because the living conditions were hazardous and disgusting. I emailed asking to rectify the issue and process a refund for the nights I did not stay there, but no one is helping or responding. Nauseating and wildly frustrating. Never EVER staying there again.

I didn't want to leave, I always felt at home. They have wonderful staff! Out of 10 hostels including hotels (in London) this was definitely the best for me. I have recommended it to my sister and some friends who are visiting the UK for the first time in the next few days… A smile can change the world. And Astor Hyde Park knows exactly what it's like to give good customer service, they always greet you with a smile. They also have a very interesting art scene. The availability of the instruments for free makes the experience that much more beautiful! I am very happy to have met this hostel! I really loved everything. I hope to see you soon. With love Kate Fresneda :)

Just to warn, there.are a lot of steps, going up to the rooms and down to the kitchen or laundry. (Second floor means third floor so 3 flights if stairs) The rooms are nice, well organized, but the bathroom could use some small corner platform for toiletries. The person in the front desk was very nice and warm. The location is excellent. Lovely neighborhood, close to Victoria and Albert Museum, which I love and to Kensington palace and gardens. This is a beautiful park with ample avenues where people go for a stroll.
