If you are considering booking this place ... don't!||We have just returned from a 2 night stay at Park Avenue Inn Craven Hyde Park from 5th July to 7th July. ||We booked 2 rooms at this hotel - one for my husband and I, & then the other for our friends. ||My husband and I arrived on Friday 5th July, stored our luggage due to the time we got to the hotel and then arrived back around 6pm to check in. We were given both sets of hotel keys, for rooms G101 and G107. ||The key for G101 didn't work, so my husband and I went to G107. We walked into G107 and it was clearly only set up for one person ... one towel, one cup, etc. Not a major problem, because we knew we could ask for more, but just inconvenient and showed a lack of care for room allocations. The room was grubby, the paint was flaking and it looked like it hadn't been dusted for months. But we thought we could cope with it as a base just for sleeping and getting showered / ready.||We had got soaked in the rain showers, so my husband decided to have a shower straight away. I had already been into the bathroom to use the toilet and again, noticed it was grubby - broken tiles, a crack in the shower tray - just in a bad state. However, once my husband went in there, I heard a shout ... he had found a used hypodermic needle on the vanity light in the bathroom. ||We removed our items from the room straight away (I would say we had been there for 10 minutes, maximum) and went straight to reception. ||The young man on the desk was quite indifferent to what we were telling him and gave a "sorry about that" (without looking or seeming sorry). He re-set the key for G101 and gave us another key too - this time for room 403.||We went to check on both, opened G101 and were met by the most overpowering mould smell - we had to prop the door open with the dirty chair that was there, to try to give it some ventilation. Upon further inspection, there was black mould all around the windows and across the external mould. We spoke to one of the guests in a room close by and they said they had been allocated the room the day before and had refused it due to the mould and the smell, but that it clearly hadn't been cleaned since and had just been re-allocated. Again, this room was also only set up and ready for one guest. ||We went to check on room 403, which was again scruffy and far from acceptable, but was an improvement on the first two rooms. We decided that as that was the better out of all of the rooms we had seen so far ("better" being a stretch), this would be saved for our friends - who were now going to join us the following day due to an urgent medical appointment. ||Then we went to complain about room G101 and told the receptionist that we couldn't stay in there. The receptionist was, yet again, uninterested. I don't feel that he was being rude - just that this is an every day occurrence for him with this hotel and the state of the rooms - it seemed that he just expected complaints and to have to make changes.||We were then allocated room 206 - the world's tiniest room. There was paint flaking off the walls and chunks taken out of the walls too ... the bathroom door didn't close ... footprints high up on the wall ... 3 out of 6 lights were not working ... the tv arm had a mind of it's own and the TV swung everywhere ... we both had to turn sideways to walk to our sides of the bed ... the window was wedged open with a plastic coat hanger ... the toilet seat was not attached at all ... everything in the bathroom was just a little bit broken ... there was a random crisp packet behind the bed ... dust everywhere ... the carpet felt like it had things ground into it (this was the first room I had taken my shoes off in, so can't say whether this was the same across all rooms) ... the mattress was not comfortable in the slightest - like there springs were few and far between ... a chunk of plaster in the shower tray. All in all, it was terrible. But we realised it was probably the best we were going to get, given the experiences in the first 2 rooms. And it was set up for two guests - we took that as a win.||When our friends arrived the following day, and got a proper look at their room, it was just as terrible as ours, though slightly larger. The bathroom was in the same state as ours - scruffy, broken items and the toilet seat not at all attached (all four of us fell off the toilets at some point over the weekend). Their window was wedged open with a toilet roll ... their paintwork and walls were just as terrible as ours ... their room was also just set up for one guest. Our friends were so disgusted by their room, they wouldn't even sleep in the bed, but slept on top of it and were cold all night. Again, the room was just grubby and not fit for purpose. ||Worst of all, their room was next to a "guest" who was clearly a working girl and lived in the hotel. Various men in and out at all times of the day and night, where she very loudly "entertained" them. We had actually heard her on the Friday night and just put it down to being a loved up couple who would tire themselves out - but it was absolutely not that. The staff in the hotel must see this and must realise what is going on - they just don't care. ||We paid just short of £500 for this stay ... 2 rooms for 2 nights.||That is not acceptable in the slightest - I wouldn't have paid a hostel rate of £25 each for these rooms, let alone just shy of £250 each. There are some real health and safety issues with this hotel - primarily the used needle and the mould, but also taken into account all of the broken equipment in the rooms. Somebody will be seriously hurt in there.||I have never felt the need to complain in this way about anything I have booked via booking.com - and I use booking.com a lot for my stays away. But this hotel was absolutely mis-sold - it is not what any of the pictures depict. It is dirty, unsanitary and unsafe - if there had been reasonable availability in any of the other local hotels for this weekend, we would have been straight there. But having already spent so much for this hotel stay, we were outpriced in moving.||I have included photo's to back up some of what we experienced ... I have none of the mould in G101 because we didn't stay in there long enough - the smell was...
Read moreAVOID!! AVOID!! AVOID AT ALL COST!!!!! THIS PLACE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE CALLED A HOTEL, DOESN'T DESERVE 1 STAR - MORE LIKE - 10... WISH I HAD READ THE REVIEWS PRIOR TO BOOKING THIS, LESS THAN 5HRS OF TRAVELLING TO LONDON (USUALLY I DO READ THE REVIEWS)!!!
WHAT EVERYONE HAS COMMENTED ARE CORRECT... THIS HOTEL IS THE WORST EVER HOTEL IN THE WORLD!!
WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED IN!! EVEN A HOSTEL IS WAY BETTER THAN THIS DUMPSTER . STAFF ARE INCOMPETENT AND USELESS!!!
MY EXPERIENCE OF THIS DUMPSTER!!! ARRIVED ON THURSDAY 11TH, ARRIVED EARLY. WANTED TO CHARGE ME £10 FOR BEING 45MINS EARLY AND WANTING TO CHECK IN!! NO CHANCE!! WHEN I FINALLY GOT CHECKED IN, ROOM G101, DISGUSTING/FILTHY. TV WASN'T WORKING, NO REMOTE CONTROL (WASN'T FIXED DURING MY STAY), BATHROOM WAS BEYOND BELIEF; WASN'T EVEN CLEANED, CRACKED TILES, TOILET SEAT BROKEN, NO BLINDS IN THE TOILET. TOLD THEM ABOUT TV AND BATHROOM... SURPISE SURPRISE TV DIDN'T GET FIXED AND THEY MADE UP AN EXCUSE; HANDYMAN DIDN'T TURN UP!? YEAH, OK!!
EVERY NIGHT I HAD TO COMPLAIN TO THE NIGHTSHIFT STAFF (GETTING OUT OF MY BED IN MY PJS TO ATTEND RECEPTION), ABOUT THE GUESTS IN ROOM G102, AND THE ROOM ABOVE. BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 10PM -2AM!!! ROWDY, BANGING DOORS!! THE NOISE THESE TWO ROOMS WERE MAKING WAS ABSOLUTELY OUTRAGEOUS!!! THE USELESS INCOMPETENT NIGHT STAFF CONTINUED TO JUST ALLOW THIS BEHAVIOUR TO GO ON WITHOUT THESE GUEST HAVING ANY RESPECT FOR OTHER GUEST THAT WAS SLEEPING. ON SATURDAY WHEN I HAD TO COMPLAIN YET AGAIN (SEVERAL TIMES) REGARDING THE NOISE AND BANGING OF DOORS... NIGHT STAFF ADVISED ME 'HE WASN'T GOING TO ASK THEM TO LEAVE REGARDLESS OF CAUSING ANNOYANCE TO OTHER GUEST!!! INSTEAD HE SAID TO ME' IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT GO ELSEWHERE '; MADE IT CLEAR REFUND THE CASH, THEN I'LL GO TO ANOTHER HOTEL AND WHY SHOULD I LEAVE I'VE PAIDFOR MY FULL STAY!
SUNDAY I SPOKE TO THE MORNING STAFF, REQUESTING TO SPEAK TO THE MANAGER AND I LET HIM HEAR THE BANGING AND LOUD VOICES (WHICH WAS RECORDED FOR PROOF)! APPARENTLY HE AGREED THAT THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE AND WOULD SPEAK TO THE MANAGEMENT.
AS I CHECKED OUT, THE INCOMPETENT NIGHTSHIFT STAFF SAID 'YOU'RE BLOCKED FROM HOTEL'; WHEN I ASKED WHY, HIS RESPONSE WAS 'YOU COMPLAINT'! WOULDN'T COME TO THIS TRASH THAT YOU CALL A HOTEL EVEN IF YOU PAID ME ..
ADVICE TO ANYONE ELSE WHO IS LOOKING TO BOOK THIS HOTEL!!! AVOID AT ALL COST!! UNLESS YOU WANT SLEEPLESS NIGHTS JUST TO SAVE £60 AND I PAID A BIT EXTRA FOR A DOUBLE BED!! WHAT...
Read moreDefinitely the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. Keep in mind I booked in two days prior to my arrival, so there was ample time to prepare.
Once booked, I never received any confirmation of booking. No email, text, credit card statement, or otherwise. The only reason I know I booked is when I showd up, they were able to look me up. The price was relatively cheap for a Saturday night ($101 USD), so I did not expect anything lavish.
However, after walking down the hallway, the carpet looked as if it had not been vacuumed in years. Stains, trash, carpet bunching up everywhere. As well as the distinct smell of mold in the hallway.
The room was no better. The window was wide open, which may be customary in European cities so that is fine, but there were stains underneath as if something had been dripping down the wall. No option for curtains, despite there being a spot to hang curtains on the window. We asked the desk for a curtain, and they provided a bed sheet, that I draped over the curtain hanger as a makeshift way to block the wind and gain some privacy. The carpet, similar to the hallway, looked and smelled like it needed a deep clean, the end tables beside the bed were sticky, so obviously they had also not been cleaned, and underneath the bed was littered with trash (soda bottles, articles of clothing, etc), again, indicating no cleaning had been done. I was scared to lay in the bed so much so that I opted to sleep in my full outfit, barring my shoes.
In the morning, me and my partner woke up and went downstairs to get some breakfast, as advertised on the website. The desk worker told us they did not serve breakfast, and when we told him the website says they do, he gave the same response. No effort provide a refund, no credit given, no effort shown for making uo for mistakes and preparing the roo., no...
