We had an absolutely outstanding experience at The Mitre in London, a couple of weeks ago. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere felt welcoming and lively, but it was the service from Pranaw (hope I got the name right) and Brandon that truly elevated the evening beyond anything we expected.

My girlfriend and I were enjoying dinner with some beer and wine and had ordered a burger. When the food arrived, one of the servers kindly pointed out that the burger had been cooked close to something containing sesame seeds. Since my girlfriend is hyperallergic, this could have been dangerous - but instead of brushing it off, the staff immediately took it seriously, removed the dish without hesitation, and helped us choose something else.

She then ordered a steak, but after a few minutes they returned, looking genuinely apologetic, to let us know they were unfortunately out. She switched to a pie, and throughout the whole process both Brandon and Pranaw made us feel completely taken care of, smiling, calm, and professional even though the pub was absolutely packed at the time.

The level of attentiveness and hospitality they showed was simply on another level. Not only did they ensure my girlfriend’s allergy was respected and handled safely, they even offered to cover our bill because of the inconvenience. Instead of accepting, we said we’d much rather enjoy a bottle of wine together as a thank-you for the incredible service- and they brought us something that tasted absolutely delicious.

In the end, what could have been a disappointing dinner turned into one of the most memorable pub experiences we’ve ever had. It’s rare to meet staff who combine professionalism, kindness, and genuine warmth the way these two did.

To Pranaw and Brandon: thank you! You didn’t just serve us food and drinks, you created a memory we’ll be telling friends about for a long time. We will definitely coming back to The Mitre on our next trip to London! Cheers!...

I can't believe I've stayed in this area for over 10 years now when visiting London, and I've only JUST got the good sense to check out this classic English pub!

We were staying in a hotel around the corner and decided to come in for a cozy Sunday roast. We've seen this pub crowded by locals before, so just to be safe (and exposing ourselves as the foreigners we are) we booked a table online. The online reso said the table would be indoors, but since we were taking multiple covid tests for our flight, we made a note to ask if they could accommodate one of their outside tables for the reso. Within hours, the manager emailed me confirmed she would be able to do so.

I was very impressed and pleasantly surprised that the Mitre's roasts offered a combination of meats in one dish - not just one. You could have multiple types of beef, combinations of chicken, beef, and duck, or even a vegetarian option. Now maybe I haven't had enough sunday roasts to be a connoisseur, but I've never seen that before and definitely like the variety.

The hostess was also very accommodating when taking our order, as one of the meats in one of our orders didn't have a full portion, so she was able to find a suitable substitute.

If I had to describe this meal in one word, it would simply be yummy. The meat was tender, the horseradish was spicy (the way I like it), the vegetables not over or underdone, and the yorkshire pudding had me drooling.

Everything a sunday roast should be in beautiful and quite neighborhood that's still close enough to the buzz of central London. Would recommend the Mitre to anyone who wants to play local and people watch real...

The classic London boozer in the noblest sense of the term. How I miss places like this! How or why the place is not mobbed by tourists in search of the genuine British experience is a mystery to me. At least it wasn't very busy when I spent a wet afternoon cozying up to its benches, steadily downing pint after pint, whilst happily blabbering on and putting the world to rights. I suspect the reason it is so quiet is that - like everywhere else - it imposes London tariffs upon its punters, and you won't get change for two pints off a tenner. More column inches could be spent on this ultimately quaint experience than I can consign here. Allow me instead to stick to the basics, the beer is fine, nothing outlandish. The place is clean, but doesn't feel like a theme parc pub. Overall, it has just the right measure of wonkiness to still feel real. The Mitre is neither sanitized into a monstrous pub chain offering, nor is it so down trodden that it evokes fear and has the bobbies on speed dial and a cricket bat under the counter. This places strikes just the right balance (an almost impossible act) between friendly, welcoming, recognisable, old school, local, safe, authentic and happy. The wood paneling feels like home, the staff are great, and the atmosphere induces you into never wanting to leave. If I owned a London pub, I'd want it to...

The roast and the shallot tartin are just stunning here !! Really really enjoyed the flavours of the food and the stunning decor. The fish and chips is also just gorgeous as well - a little on the salty side but still gorgeous
