Where to begin? The list of reasons why this "apartment" deserves the lowest possible rating is quite long, so make yourselves comfortable. First and foremost, we booked a room for three guests and were guaranteed a double bed and a sofa bed, but the so-called sofa bed was actually a folded couch, completely devoid of a mattress and incredibly uncomfortable for your back. To give you an idea of how we had to sleep for 9 (!) nights, look at the attached photo. For the price we paid (€1,500 for 9 nights), we're certainly not expecting a luxury hotel, but selling that brick as a "bed" is borderline illegal fraud: a "bed" can't possibly not have a mattress, otherwise it's just a sofa (and a hard, uncomfortable, worn-out one, not even flat, but with a hollow in the center that sucks in your back). The double bed was also small and not particularly comfortable, but at least it was a bed. Second, the insane temperature felt inside the room. The room is a few square meters, and the only opening to the outside is a tiny, practically useless, sash window, as it doesn't let any air in even on windy days. On days when the outside temperature exceeded 25-26 degrees Celsius, the temperatures felt inside that room at night, combined with the humidity, made sleep impossible. Needless to say, the room had no dehumidifier or air conditioning: there was only a noisy and ineffective fan. To get some air into that stifling hovel and sleep, we were forced to leave the front door open, blocking it with a suitcase! The bathroom, too, with no openings to the outside, became extremely humid and unbearable after two minutes of showering. Third, the room's architecture. First of all, the room is incredibly small for three guests. We barely managed to fit one suitcase into the rather small closet, already partially occupied by blankets, an iron, and other items. We were forced to place the other two onto the floor, taking up precious space in an already very small room. Then, the "sofa bed" is so close to the kitchen counter that some drawers couldn't be opened without temporarily moving the "sofa bed" itself (see photo). Furthermore, its position made it impossible to use the stovetop while standing: we were forced to cook while kneeling on the "sofa bed" (see photo). Furthermore, the stovetop, an induction burner, only had two cooking zones. This wouldn't have been a problem, except that the pots and pans provided were larger than the cooking zones, so if you used both zones simultaneously, the pot/pan on the right would end up touching and activating the control panel: effectively, you could only use one cooking zone. Furthermore, the stove wasn't particularly powerful: it took us forever to boil water. Last but not least: the closet door only opened halfway because it was blocked by the spring-loaded door closer (see photo). The only positives are the room cleaning service and the location. The room is a five-minute walk from Paddington Station, which is well connected to the rest of the city. I've traveled extensively in my life, and I'm well-versed in adapting. Cooking on my knees, sleeping with the door open, and sharing a tiny room are compromises that one can accept when traveling: at best, they'll make for funny stories to tell upon returning. But I believe that the most essential thing any hospitality establishment should guarantee is a good night's sleep, and "Hyde Park Apartments" didn't deliver. In a world marked by climate change, establishments should adapt to rising temperatures. But above all, having paid (not cheaply) for a sofa bed and instead found a couch without a mattress, hard, uncomfortable, dirty, and not even flat—I'll put it bluntly—made me feel frankly cheated, and I find that unacceptable, especially in an affluent neighborhood of one of the most affluent cities on the planet. I hope I'll return to London, perhaps to Paddington, but I certainly won't return to Hyde...
Read moreThis is my worst hotel/apartment I had been experienced ever. Me and my friends went to London shopping so we didn’t expect any fancy and well serviced hotel room as we only need a place to sleep. Therefor we booked it and it turned out to be the most wrong move of our traveling plan.
We checked in the afternoon and drop off some shopping bags as we were hurry to go out for a 2nd round shopping. Around 9:30 pm we came back, take off our shoes and throw ourselves on bed and sofa which gave us a chance to have a look at this room: table and chair is a bit dirty with water or food mark; sofa is quite mess with greasy mark and some food bits or something I have no idea. I was walking to bathroom and feeling my feet were stick on loads dirty bits that made my feet while I was saying “never mind it’s only one night and we were going to get up early tomorrow morning any way”. All of sudden, I felt my feet was extremely pricking painful and I realized it was definitely not dirt or sand or stone. I was screaming and lean to the wall and my friends were startled helping me check on my feet. IT WAS A PIECE OF GLASS! And we gave a close look on the dirty floor, there were tiny glasses on the floor which were too small to find out but only with iphone lights you might find those tiny glasses were shining. We were freaking out and my friends took on their shoes and run to reception for help. The gentlemen was polite and take one piece of bandage while my feet was bleeding and offering nothing help but a unthroughable phone number, what he said “I can go wipe the floor for you but I cannot offer you another room”, we were like “Don’t you think roughly wipe the floor wont guarantee all tiny pieces gone? What if we got stabbed again?” he goes “you can report to our manager but the manager is not available now and tomorrow and in two following days, you can go have a try calling this number or email them.”
We were so angry and decided to leave such a place where in the middle of pieces glasses because we worried to get hurt on feet again. And yes we phoned them and emailed them, they were so “kind” to offer us discount on next booking. What? Next booking? Is it kidding? We will never book this horrible hotel again and good job for “when your customer injured you smile and offer a piece of bandage” and “a sincere apologize and...
Read moreGood location. If driving to the hotel, you can park on the single yellow lines after 6.30pn until 8.30am next day. The apartments itself do not have parking. There are paying bays across the road, and nearby available for up to 4 hours. It is pay by phone. (this was crucial information I needed as I drove over a 100 miles to be at this apartment and it wasn't advertised online or by telephone - so it helps others!)
Apartments are of high standard. It was a wonderful surprise and delight. It is home away from home. And the price was amazing for so close to London Paddington, train and tube stations (less than 10 minutes walk). Shops are within walking distance so of you wanted eggs, beans, toast for that good ol' English fry up, everything is available.
It is a little disappointing only because if your neighbour from any side moves you can hear them. Windows are single pane so you can hear everything outside. Apartment will try & take payment before arrival. Will definitely stay again &...
