Let me be up front - I'm not fussy about hotels. I stay in 2 stars all the time, 3 stars, airport hotels. Here's all you need to know about this hotel - 1) the front door is like a regular house front door. The lock locks, sure, but there's no desk in the hotel, so nobody there if someone tries to break in. There are CCTV cameras, relayed to the parent/sister hotel across the road (where you go to check in), 2) You have to go to a different hotel across the road to check in, 3) They give you a key but tell you you have to return the key to them whenever you go out. That's not unheard of, but it is 2017. Sure, let's pretend you're fine with dropping your key to them - but dropping your key to reception in your own hotel building you're sleeping in, not a problem, as you have to go past it on the way out. But you have to leave, lock up, go across the road, wait/queue for service (I waited 10 mins inline to check in, but lovely staff when I did). So that sucks, 4) There's no lift and the stairs are not your average stairs. They're pretty steep, 5) The hotel isn't 'faded glamour' - it is downright shabby. I felt like I was on the set of Withnail and I or something (not in a good way), 6) My room was nice size, and seemed clean, but didn't smell clean. Musty, feint smell of urine in the bathroom (prob bad plumbing, not their fault), dusty. Full size fridge in the room felt like it was a bedsit. Basically, the abandoned/no 'Reception'/flimsy lock feel to the building made me feel like I wasn't going to leave my stuff there overnight. CCTV is fine, but preventative is better. But hey - you get what you pay for. In the hotel's defense, the staff were lovely and apologetic and issued be a refund immediately - because I dipped 30 mins after checking in. Shame, as there are so many hotels on the same stretch that are decent. There is no excuse for not spending money on the rooms, or sorting out the mustiness, or even putting decent signage up or brighter lighting. Refurb and a good...

Good wifi. Great location. Nice staff. The rooms are not ok. At least my room had very strong moldy smell. It's just not healthy. This building needs a total overhaul. it's just so apparent that there is a mold problem. The smell was enough to worry about it getting into your luggage and clothes. I'm allergic to black mold and I got my usual symptoms. It was not possible to lock the window, and the room is on 4th floor so it would have been easy to enter the room from the next room using the windows. One or two nights of my stay there was a loud sound from the wall outside, some electric motor sound or compressor sound. Ear plugs are essential there. Tiny room, the smallest hotel room I've booked. I can't give this more than two stars. There was a lack of ambition in many ways. The room wasn't really clean, it needed more thorough dusting and general cleaning. ... breakfast was good. Standard and good. But yeah.. two times I got cutlery that wasn't clean enough. The whole wheat bread was served from the plastic bag it was bought in. The over all experience can be summarized by saying, lack of ambition. I would consider staying there again it they would get rid of the mold. I'll attach a photo from the windows that shows the view...

We just finished a combined stay at Park Grand Paddington of 12 days. This is a very good hotel in the perfect location. The hotel offers a variety of room sizes to fit you budget, and has a very good breakfast offering. All rooms, regardless of size, have fresh furnishings and nice, modern bathrooms. The maid service is outstanding; indeed, the entire hotel is spotless.||It is only a short walk to Paddington Station where you can catch the train and the tube. As well, it is a short walk to Hyde Park that offers a beautiful retreat from the hustle and bustle of London. Good restaurants are everywhere. ||This is a solid four star hotel, but I added a fifth star because of the continuing assistance on Ms. Shafaq Sameen at the front desk. She is the true exception to the rule when it comes to front desk staff. She does not act like you are intruding on her time when you seek help. She has a beaming personality that is accompanied by a desire to help. Her assistance over our long stay was invaluable. Whenever we think of the Park Grand Paddington, we will...

The only good thing I can say about this hotel is about the lady who worked at kitchen for breakfast, she was lovely. A part of that nothing else, the room was extremely small, internet connection on the room was horrible, no lift so I had to carry on my suitcase to the fourth floor and the guy at reception did not even offer to help me. Also I asked if I could leave the room 30 minutes after the check out time, as I had a very important meeting , and his answer was no you have to leave at 11am!. Very rude receptionist, no manners.I would not came back to this hotel at all.

Nice location to the tubes. Great spot to do some running at Hyde Park. Lots of nice cafes, pubs, corner stores nearby. The room had an ac which could be noisy when off but not terrible. The walls are thin so you can hear your neighbors plus some city sounds can be heard even from the 4th floor. But I grew up in the city so it was a nice ambiance. There's no elevator so be ready for a hike and work out. The staff is very friendly and checked if I had a room when I came back late at night which is good for security purposes. Good value.
