A budget hotel around a 10 minute walk from Paddington Station and close to Hyde Park. On check in I found the reception staff's command of English wasn't 100% so it was a little difficult to make myself understood. The room itself was basic, which is fair enough with a budget hotel. However, the finish of the decor was poor. The laminate flooring was poorly fitted and the furniture looked tired. In a contrast to this the en suite bathroom was finished to a better standard. A big negative was the air conditioning. The display was flashing an error message upon my arrival. I queried it with the front desk to see if someone could take a look at it for me. I was told that the air conditioning throughout the hotel didn't work but was told where the switch was for the ceiling fan. With the high ceiling I found the effect of the fan negligible. The bed was comfortable with a nice duvet. I had a good nights sleep. The hotel has a pool but their description of it as a spa is a little much. It is a pool and a sauna. There are no locker facilities to secure your belongings. Breakfast is very good with a good selection of warm foods, pastries and cereals available at the buffet. Along with a self service hot and cold drinks. Although the decor again is a little tired in the dining area. Overall, it is a good hotel with the plus points outweighing the negatives. If you can get past the down sides it a good hotel to stay in London on a budget. The building needs a little care and it could score higher.

UPDATE: my detailed horrific photos of the facilities and condition of the place were probably reported by the management of hotel And are unavailable for public view, so beware none of the ads match the actual condition, so just don’t even consider this place. Judge by the photos. Location is great and that is the only plus side. None of the facilities match the advertisement. Details below: - The price just doesn’t make sense to competitors which offer new facilities. - False advertisement of condition and features offered. The place seems to be 30+ years old and NEVER REFURBISHED. - Many visitors were not able to force themselves to eat the food available for breakfast. - Extremely dusty, badly maintained. - Errors with occupants rooms, double booking. - The staff seem to be very few, overworked at low rate and stressed. ( particularly housekeeping) - Two 70’s Elevators call for a prayer when in use. - Bunch of non working equipment placed in the room just crowding the space. - NO AIR CONDITIONING. Well, it is installed but does not work anywhere. To conclude, just seems like a scam with fake pictures, focused on catching random tourists and with the main policy being NO REFUNDS - that is said with a big smile to anyone inquiring. The place is not really supervised, especially at night, some take advantage of that.

Stayed one night - two people. Room 106 was fine! There are some run down bits, but the important part, like your hotel room, was fine and safe! Good price, value, and a safe stay. Pros: Comfy bed, felt safe, nice ceiling fan and open window, clean shower and bed linens and the space was fine for a central London, low-cost hotel. It’s on a quiet street full of other hotels and hostels and two blocks from Hyde Park and 10 min walk from Paddington Station. Cons: Lobby is run down, smells bad and just isn’t welcoming, Other guests slammed their doors, The A/C unit was turned off so couldn’t try to see if it worked. WiFi is very slow and not recommended for Business travelers for those who might need to work. In-room safe did not work properly.

Do not visit this hotel or any Sonder hotel for that matter. Stayed for two nights for my birthday. We were bitten by bed bugs, my partner actually saw one on him but didn’t tell me until the next day to try and not ruin my birthday! But there was no hiding it when we both had the same bites to compare ! I’ve also noted from previous reviews others were bitten too at this hotel so do be careful if you dare visit here. Anyway we told the hotel and gave them the opportunity to make things right with us (without the need for me to write a review as we are understanding people but here we are given their incompetence). I spoke to someone from Sonder through the booking.com messenger app straight away who asked us to provide pictures etc and said they will refund us as a gesture of goodwill but despite providing evidence of the bites, prescription for treatment and a pharmacy receipt (we were away in France after this trip so couldn’t visit the GP) we still don’t have the money back and don’t look to be getting it and much to our frustration (we were actually quite calm originally despite it ruining my birthday) they are now refusing and ignoring any contact from me. For a week we both had these bites having to cover them up on our holiday to France! They said they’ve had pest control out after I pushed for it but I very much doubt it as they couldn’t show me any proof of them finding nothing which they said was the case, which tells me they did find them or they didn’t have any pest control company out! Ive asked to escalate my complaint to the manager of the hotel but been ignored. Booking.com tried to speak to them on my behalf but they refused any refund. Tried customer service who just forward it to the hotel and apparently don’t have a complaints procedure. Ended up in an email thread with ‘Veronica’ who calls herself a ‘hospitality supervisor’ who tells me no refund is being given and the matter is closed. Zero customer service skills - no care or attention to what’s happened. Despite me explaining multiple times that I was promised a refund originally, this is being totally ignored and this is what makes me most angry. Don’t suggest a refund if you’re not going to give one! Veronica has ignored my contact requests for the complaints procedure and escalation to the hotel manager. Seems there is either no hotel manager or that person is palming the complaint off to a supervisor. I am thoroughly disgusted at this company and have no option but to now ask my bank to process a chargeback for the full amount. Shame on you Sonder - sort out your cleanliness and the people dealing with unhappy guests as they need...

To be fair, it is a disaster. Really it doesn't even have quality of a 2star hotel. From the entrance everyone notices the dirty and untidy carpet. The lobby furnitures are dirty and full of scratches. We got a double bed room. when we got into the room we were shocked with the size of it. It was hardly 8-10 Sq. meter. the bed was 140 cm and the only blanket they provided was not bigger. Beside the bed there was really small passage. One cannot walk there even straight. The air conditioner was not working and we had to turn on a small manual heating beside a big window which was not isolated at all. They had put a small (maximum 21-inch) wall mounted TV. Where in the world you find such a small TV in a 4star hotel? The WC door could not be closed at all. When taking a dhower one coulx entertain him/herself by counting the number of unfilled holes on the tiles of the bath. On the morning we went for the worst hotel breakfast we had even compared to does we had in low quality hotels in Iran. The scrambled egg was so sticky that you could think you are chewing meat. After this fisrt night, we decided that we talk to the manager and leave the hotel. The reception was so ignorant about our request. She said the manager is not there and comes back in 2 hours. We went for a walk and came back then. Again they told us he is not there and is sick. He had offered us another room which we didn't want to accept. We asked them for cancelling the rest of our 4-night stay which they did not despite their cacellation policy. The booking portal Hotelopia called them several times and they didn't reply. At the end, we were so tired of arguing. We booked a way better hotel with even lower price and left there. This hotel is so Awful. It is a fraud to consider...

When I arrived at this hotel, I was really excited to be staying here but that all changed once I entered the room. They were stingy on the amount of pillows they gave and they were also hard memory foam which I don't even have in my own bed... When I requested more pillows she handed them to me without being sealed... I wish I was more cautious because after staying 2 nights there I ended up with a bad fever, migraine and terrible flu. The tv screen was smaller than my laptop screen - I seriously wish I was joking or exaggerating but I never knew how small a TV with a HDMI cable could be until I went there. The bed base is extremely light which means if you lean your back against the headboard- at certain angles you end up pushing it forward and falling a bit backwards.

The only highlight was the swimming pool but it was only available for one day as the next day it had maintenance issues. They didn't provide you with flip flops or a robe to wear when going there. The changing rooms were a joke as its a curtain with space on both sides and its facing the whole swimming pool. Luckily I was alone when I used it.

The breakfast itself was very bland with no seasoning and they didn't even have a salt shaker on every table... I couldn't even be bothered to go there on the second day even though its free because that's how bad it was.

I am still in shock this hotel is 4 stars as it literally doesn't deserve it. The receptionist gave us a different checkout time than the one stated on our confirmation booking and once we stated that all she said was ok and smiled.

I even took some pictures of how bad the dust and dirt was in our room to truly show any customers out there...
