The hostel was generally fine, and the reception staff were kind. The rooms were spacious with a nice layout, though there are no closets, so keep that in mind.

The view was pleasant, and the hostel’s location near Paddington Station was really convenient. There are also plenty of shops and amenities nearby, which was a plus.

However, there’s no private bathroom in the rooms, so you have to share with everyone else. The utensils in the communal kitchen were often dirty, which wasn’t ideal.

The biggest issue, though, was the hygiene—or lack of it. There were strangers’ pubic hairs everywhere: in the bathrooms, showers, on the table in the room, and even on the bedsheets. Every day, I’d find new hairs on my bed, which made sleeping there really uncomfortable and unpleasant. It was a strange experience that could have been vastly improved with better...

LOVE this place and I won't ever stay anywhere else now in London. The breakfast is brilliant and the selection is amazing! I'm very particular with the cleanliness of hotels/hostels and this hostel definitely meets my standards! The staff are beyond friendly, beyond helpful and will do whatever they can to help. The room is great but I'd definitely recommend new mattresses (way too soft for my liking) and the carpets are in quite a bad condition but it's a hostel so get a lot of use! Location is brilliant, on a very quiet road and very close to Paddington and Lancaster Gate station. Managers are often seen, very friendly and they treat their staff incredibly well which is evident in how they treat us. Kensington Gardens Hostel is a good budget option if you want to stay central without spending a fortune. The location is excellent – a short walk to Hyde Park, Notting Hill, and good transport links – so it’s easy to get around London.

The rooms are simple and do the job, with basic bunks and lockers for your things. Bathrooms and common areas can get busy, but they’re kept to a decent standard of cleanliness. The hostel has a bar and social spaces which makes it easy to meet other travellers, and the staff are generally friendly and helpful.
