This review doesn’t have to do with the venue, it is to do with the company/people who organised the cricket World Cup screening on Sunday 19th November 2023. It was awfully managed due to the following reasons: terribly overbooked, people had absolutely no place to stand/sit at first as only 1/3rd of the venue had been opened due to a nightclub occupying the rest of the place provisioned for the World Cup apparently. When the 2/3rd space opened, things got better but shortly after, we were told that ALL OUTDOOR space was reserved for another event (some Latin dance event I believe - I could be wrong) and we were squeezed into 3 dark rooms with no ventilation and no network The DJ.. I don’t know what word to use to describe him. Most of us where there for the cricket but he would play Bollywood music (which I am all for at the right time) during overs and when India lost (at least 95% of the people there were Indians), he asked everyone to join the party after. ????!!!! I appreciate sportsmanship and being supportive to the Australian fans which we were but he couldn’t read the crowd at all and said and played things at inappropriate moments There was no arrangements made for handicapped people which contributed to the overall poor organisation The staff at the venue was incredibly rude from the restaurant staff, to the organiser herself. I understand their frustration because they clearly were serving 3x the number of people that they should’ve There was security at the event but none of us know what they were doing. When people moved from section to section … they were just running and squeezing in large groups. There was no crowd control and this could’ve been very dangerous. Considering tickets for this event were selling at £50 towards the end, the above is even more ridiculous! They tried to monetise the event with having ZERO consideration for comfort, and care I don’t think the event organisers should be allowed to organise future events until there is proper due diligence done so that people are not scammed and so that they can look forward...
Read moreDon't go to this venue if you have Type 1 Diabetes or any other form of disability that the venue and their security team will brand as "inconvenient" as you try and enter. I went with a group of friends who had booked this venue for the Eurovision Song Contest screening on Saturday 13th May 2023. As a type 1 diabetic I have to carry sugar with me as well as wear an insulin pump and continuous blood glucose monitor. When entering the venue the security team told us to empty our pockets and one of the items I had with me was an unopened packet of starburst which I need incase I have a low blood sugar event. I was immediately told I wouldn't be allowed in the venue with my "sweets", and after calmly and politely trying to explain the danger it would cause if they put these sweets in the bin I was told that "my medical condition doesn't make me different from anyone else" and that "I wasn't special". I would have to buy the sugar at the bar like every other person in the venue. I attempted to explain if I have a low sugar event and I can't access sugar because I am in a long queue at the bar, that could be incredibly dangerous.
I was stunned by their response and couldn't believe a venue would priorities money over making sure people with disabilities felt included and safe in their premises.
Thankfully, one of the other security guards stepped in to say that this situation was ridiculous and they should not take my sugar off me but the manager still wouldn't listen.
I eventually made it into the venue with my sugar but left shortly afterwards having felt completely embarrassed and discriminated against.
The venue itself was horrible and not appealing at all. I have never had an issue like this at any other venue and I will never be going back here.
We ended up going to Vauxhall Market Place, 1 minute down the road and it was 100 x better. Actual service with real food and nice people. We saw many people who had left Vauxhall Food and Beer Garden having been similarly disappointed and miss...
Read moreWe paid £10 per person for the AJ fight. I organised 13 people for a table. We had to queue for 25 mins just to enter the venue. Then had to provide "physical ID" - 4 men in their 60s were turned away for not having ID... (Should have seen the red flags at this point!). The staff then took us to our table which was right at the end. We then received a notice on our table which said the "Garden Section" would be closed at 9.30 (Before the main event!). I spoke to the manager who assured me that we wouldnt have to move tables... Later the extremely aggressive security guard demanded we moved and took our table away. I went and found the manager who promised me that we wouldnt move and he said that he was sorry for the inconvenience (after lying...) and that my friends and I would receive free entry to the club, which was £25 per person, for our troubles. The bar then shut and we were forced to make make-shift seats (much to the disgruntlement of the security) away from where we had just enjoyed our previous 4 hours drinking, eating and spending money, we were forced to buy from the bar inside which only served £6 cans of budweiser. The volume was so low no one could hear the commentary or ring walks. The crowd at the venue were chanting: "is this a library?" "1 star on Google" "We paid £10 for this..." You clearly disgruntled so many people, including me and my 12 friends.
At the end of the night we were all told to leave immediately so the club could open. I informed the aggressive security man that the manager said we could enter the club without the £25 pp, as an apology for the inconvenience (and lies)... I was then told this couldnt be true and told to get out. I asked where the manager was and apparently he had gone home. I cannot stand the amount of lies and false promises. The place was a shambles. Various staff members we spoke to laughed about how badly run it was and they couldnt understand the decisions being made. I have no idea how they can charge £10 just to enter for...
