I'll start with the positive. Staff upon entrance are very welcoming, with a smile on their face, which extended to those serving in the restaurant itself. All members were very polite, friendly ; the lady serving us was very sweet. This is a nice reflection of the hotel itself. Now for the Magic Afternoon Tea experience itself ... Didn't enjoy it I'm afraid .. it was SO dark with candles which following the first 5 minutes novelty of it being "cool" tied in with the use of glow in the dark menu and mini torches, it just became annoying with candle flickering in your eyes. It was too dark, and I want to be able to see my food in brightness. Unless I'm in an opted in the Dark experience. Too gloomy. It's summer, no one wants to sit in the dark. "Let there be light" is what I wish I could have summoned with this Magic theme. The finger sandwiches were not really great, and I also didn't like the cakes. The cocktails were disgusting but that's I'm sure acquired taste. Far too sweet, but sickening sweet. I'm sorry to have to say that. It was the flavours that I just didn't enjoy. I don't want to knit pick either but the first cocktail which was the only one that was alright, was served in a leaking glass. I let the bartender know but he didn't bother offering to replace the drink. Not exactly a 5 star service in this particular observation. We had done "The Science Tea at the Ampersand hotel" their sister branch and we had loved it. The quality and taste of the food there was divine, so deliciously yummy which is what enticed us to try another. The kids menu has a pork hot dog with no alternative. They replaced with some chicken pie that seemed silly alternative. You should have both a chicken hot dog option or pork. Also with your central London location should be a halal option for the meat. The marshmallows we were told had pork gelatine so my son had to miss out on that bit too. To conclude we simply didn't enjoy the taste of the food, and myself personally found it a bit annoying to dine in that much dark the entire way through. Having said that in terms of the staff ALL were very very friendly and warm, and I can't fault them in this. My criticism is for the Afternoon Tea experience. I feel like you should perhaps ask your customers at the end to fill in a survey on what they would change about the experience and attempt to improve on it. I would highly recommend trying "The Science Tea" at sister branch instead. I didn't even want to take leftovers home because the taste was not nice. My son's friend (10 years old) also didn't enjoy the taste. We were disappointed. We would have been better off popping in to a local bakery for...
Read moreA little gem!!! Very boutique with lots of charm. Ideal for a central location. It's a few minutes walk to St Paul's cathedral although we did walk from there to covent garden which is doable. We stayed for 2 nights and from the minute we stepped out the taxi we were given a warm welcome. Our bags were taken from us and taken to our rooms before we got there. The guys behind reception are amazing, nothing is too much trouble, they helped us with directions and ordering taxis. When we arrived we were a little early so they directed us to the rooftop bar for a free welcome glass of champagne. The rooftop bar was great and special thanks to lemme who welcomed us he was just so friendly and accommodating. The rooms are so clean and tastefully decorated and you have everything and more for your stay...( these guys think of everything ) little things like dressing gowns & slippers and even a umbrella in the wardrobe if you need it. The minibar is well stocked and complimentary teas and coffees all replenished daily, as are the complimentary toiletries which are so luxurious and smell beautiful. The food was delicious and the quality was definitely 5 star. I had a generous portion of smashed avocado with smoked salmon and poached eggs on a bed of sourdough bread and it was the best I'd ever had. We had breakfast the day before at Cote brasserie and i can honestly say that the hotel breakfast was of much higher quality and worth every penny its worth staying in for your meals if you want quality and the prices are reasonable for what you get. Thankyou so much to the staff for making our stay so special. We will definitely be returning...
Read moreOur stay at the Vintry & Mercer Hotel was nothing short of extraordinary. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the friendliest staff who went above and beyond to ensure our visit was unforgettable.
The design of the hotel is stunning, seamlessly blending modern luxury with historic charm. Our room was spotless, elegantly decorated, and equipped with all the comforts we could imagine — the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!
A special shout-out goes to Hamid, the bellman, who was an absolute delight. He reminded us of the “sneaky-sneaky” butler from Mr. Deeds — always one step ahead, anticipating our needs before we even had to ask. Whether it was arranging transportation, helping with luggage, or offering insider tips about the city, Hamid’s energy and humor made the experience so memorable. He truly elevated our entire stay!
The location is unbeatable, tucked away in a quiet area but just steps from iconic landmarks like St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Millennium Bridge. Exploring London from here was effortless.
Dining at the hotel was also a highlight. The Vintry Kitchen served creative and flavorful dishes, while the Mercer Roof Terrace offered breathtaking views paired with outstanding service. Every meal felt special, thanks to the attentive staff.
