Overall the food was lovely and the service was a good speed, but not always accurate.
The young waitress serving us got a couple of our drink and dessert orders wrong, even though two people with me explained what they wanted to her two or three times very clearly and patiently as it was very very simple and she wasn't getting it, but by the time they finished, she seemed like she understood, but clearly did not.
For example, one person ordered one glass of whisky with a "separate" glass of coke, so the waitress said whisky and coke mixed, they said no separately as in two glasses one with whisky and then a coke - simple right? What was brought to them was one glass with whisky and coke mixed together so the waitress had to take it away and correct the order.
Then time for the desserts, I skipped it, but the other two people wanted ice-cream so you get two scoops for the advertised price on the menu. One person ordered vanilla ice-cream and the other ordered a coconut ice-cream - simple right? What was brought to the table was "one" bowl of ice-cream for one person only with one scoop of each flavour in it, instead of "two" separate bowls of ice-cream for two people with each flavour in it.
They need to train the young waitress to listen, write things down correctly and pay more attention to detail. One of the people with me who use to live and work in Thailand said maybe its because its sometimes difficult for them to understand if English is not their first language so you have to excuse them and that's a fair comment, I perfectly understand that and admire these people because they put me to shame only being able to speak one language. I said I did not think that my was the case because her English was fine. I said I just think she was not paying attention properly.
Had the service been better I would have given it 4(four)...
Read moreWhat a terrible experience, the worst dining experience ever - Went to Thai Square Mansion today after visiting another thai square in London which was good. We were initially greeted by a waiter who had no interest in serving us and took our menus away before we could even order. After I asked for the menus back, he then stepped on my shoes which were white and left them incredibly stained to which he said sorry and walked off. I asked for the manager who had no interest in helping us at all. After debating with him for what seemed like 20 minutes he offered if I had the shoes dry cleaned they would reimburse me but I would have to come back in and catch taxis at my own expense to the dry cleaners and back, when i asked if he could also cover the taxis as I had to take time out of my day due to his staff ruining my shoes he said no and was unapologetic. Ignoring the extremely terrible start and service, we ordered anyway. They messed up our order TWICE until when our actual orders finally arrived it was tasteless, bland and simply not up to par. Another waitress came to our table and accidentally smashed our bottle of water and then blamed it on us, not actually realising it was her own fault. At the end we were so let down and the manager didn't offer us anything - My business partner said it was a horrible experience and he offered a 10% discount. This was a terrible terrible experience and I HIGHLY recommend you avoid this restaurant at all COST. There was no empathy in helping their customers. Felt taken advantage of, ripped off and am still disappointed at how there are people like this running...
Read moreI am a vegetarian and I love thai food. I visited the Thai sqaure near mansion House with a couple of friends. Thai square has a vegetarian menu page . This includes starters, main course and soups. We were a group of 5 people. Ordered a corn cake, spring roll and toa hoo salt n pepper for starters. It was decent. But I have definitely eaten better food than this ! The corn cake was a bit chewy. The toa hoo dish was good. Some sauce with it would have made it really good. The spring roll was oily but atleast tasty.
Then we moved on to order soups and main course. Ordered the jungle curry and spicy bean curd with steamed Jasmine rice. But both were average. Have had food at other Thai places and Thai sqaure does not do justice to the food quality. The prices are fine dining ones, so the total expectation is also for a good experience
The ambience and the service is decent but I was so disappointed with the food that nothing else really pulled up the score for Thai Square. I think there are better places for Thai food than Thai sqaure. Avoid it if you have other places to nearby!! I wouldn't...
