Just visited for lunch but wish I had given it a pass. Watery Rogan Josh with lots of big pieces of fresh but tasteless tomatoes but very little meat. Overall a very bland experience, from food to service with no one waiting at the ”please wait here to be seated” sign and no one showing up for 10 minutes. Had to walk downstairs on my own to ask for a table in a very cramped and dark downstairs venue without any light just to get bland food. I eat Indian several times a week and have done so for 15 years but this must be the most unimpressive meal I can remember. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Edit: I am adding this after reading the reply from the restaurant, calling me both rude and insecure. I will not go to the childish levels of their reply, but, how can any serious establishment respond like that? Surely I can’t have been neither rude or insecure when you barely spoke to me. I’d love to know how I could have come across as such without communication. I came in for lunch between meetings in the city and was looking forward to a nice and quiet meal based on the reviews of this place. That’s it. And I left utterly disappointed… stay away. Perhaps the reply says it all, I don’t think any serious restaurant that cares about quality, and most importantly, the experience of its guests would respond like that

I had an incredible dining experience at The India - Cannon Street. From the moment you walk in, the charming old London exterior sets the tone perfectly for what becomes a truly authentic and flavorful Indian meal. The food was top-notch — every dish was rich in flavor and beautifully presented. The curries were perfectly spiced, the naan was warm and fluffy, and the portions were generous. I highly recommend their mixed platter and the butter chicken — both were standouts. The staff were warm, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. Service was prompt despite how busy it was, which speaks volumes about how well the place is managed. Prices are reasonable for central London and it's definitely worth every penny. Ideal for both business lunches and cozy dinners. Will definitely be returning soon. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine in the heart of the city

It is our last night in London and we wanted something special, a short bus trip from our hotel and we were greeted by the lovely front of house lady, she took us down to our table. Once we got down the stairs we were hit by the most amazing aromas. Pompadoms for the table with nice chutneys and pickles i recommend the mixed starter for two and our mains where butter chicken with garlic nan and the mixed biriyani we only have one pic because the food and service was so good i completely forgot to take pics. Amazing treat will come again when we are in London Thanks for the great evening

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Indian, and I can honestly say it was one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment I walked in, I felt welcomed — the staff greeted me warmly and were attentive throughout the evening without ever feeling intrusive.

The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, striking a perfect balance between modern decor and traditional Indian touches. Soft music played in the background, creating a relaxing ambiance that made it easy to settle in and enjoy the evening.

Now, let’s talk about the real star of the show — the food. Every dish we ordered was bursting with authentic flavours and beautifully presented. We started with a mixed platter of starters, which included samosas, pakoras, and succulent chicken tikka — each bite was fresh and well-seasoned. For the main course, I had the lamb rogan josh, which was tender and rich, with spices that were perfectly balanced and aromatic without being overpowering. The naan bread was soft and fluffy, and the pilau rice was cooked to perfection.

What really stood out to me was the attention to detail — you can tell the chefs put genuine care into every dish. The portions were generous, and the quality of ingredients was top-notch. I also appreciated that the menu offered a good range of vegetarian options, which makes it a great choice for groups with different tastes and dietary needs.

To top it all off, the service was exceptional. Our server checked in just the right amount of times, offered helpful recommendations, and made sure our drinks were always topped up.

The Indian is a place I’ll definitely return to — whether it’s for a casual dinner with friends, a family meal, or even a special occasion. It’s clear they take pride in delivering a memorable dining experience, and they’ve certainly won me over as a loyal customer.

If you’re looking for authentic Indian cuisine with fantastic service and a warm atmosphere, I highly recommend giving The...

After checking the reviews and nice pictures on the website, we decided to have a lovely dinner at this restaurant. Upon arrival, we had to wait around 5 minutes for anyone to turn up at the meet-and-greet. As no one showed up, we went downstairs to the seats and found staff members chatting with no attention to new customers approaching. After being seated, we were immediately warned that we needed to order quickly and finish our meal within 45 minutes, as it was Sunday and they were closing at 11 p.m. (we turned up at 9.45 p.m.). Why would you let customers in then if you want to close? You made them rush to order and eat. Before I finished Poppadom, the waiter took my plate by putting his fingers in it, which was unhygienic and unprofessional. Then our mains arrived: Chicken Dupiaza, Lamb Jalfrezi, Pilou Rice, and Garlic Naan. Chicken and Lamb were tasteless; both types of meat were only peppery, without any indication of flavours or spices. For many years, being a big fan of Indian cuisine worldwide, it was the first time I had to ask for salt! Even then, no one from the staff asked about how our meals were. Also, the lamb was very tough and dry, unpleasant to chew and hard to swallow. Pilou Rice was cold, partially with clumps, and also lacked any flavour. When our half-full plates were cleared again without questioning whether anything was wrong with the meals, the staff started to clean the floors and talk loudly to each other, so we didn't even manage to finish our wine. We respectfully and fully paid our bill and left. We didn't see the point in complaining or saying anything at that time, as clearly, no one from the team cared. When we were living The India Restaurant, we felt unwelcome, disappointed, and, most...

DO YOURSELF A FAVOR, and DO NOT GO THERE!!! The WORST SERVICE and experience I have ever had in my life!! From the moment you go in the waiters start harassing (have never had a most rushed, felt less welcomed, and been treated like that in any restaurant in my life!) They have a mission for their customers: get them out the door asap so they can use the table for someone else, but this comes at the expense of how they serve you, they are rude! have never been more uncomfortable as they make no mistake and do not care of their customers experience MUST ORDER QUICK AND A MIN OF PLATES…They started asking that at least we should order one main course per person (why?) and appetizers a minimum too- leaves a bad taste in your mouth They hurry you through your meal, but they are too overt about it- the waiters come so often trying to rush you through your meal, rather than seeing if you need anything else… we were still eating and they wanted to take our platea away… just hurrying us every step! No manners brought us the check without asking if we wanted dessert- harassed us 2 min after with the machine to pay and finally came to the table and had the audacity and complete lack of touch (as we were finishing our bottle of wine) to ask if we could pleaae leave!!!

The food is NOT GREAT, quite average and the experience overall is SO POOR I will never...
