Never in my life have I been so unhappy with the service, that I’ve cancelled the mains and left a restaurant. We ordered a burrata and hot honey garlic bread. The starters arrived after over 40 mins and I noticed there was no burrata ball on the garlic bread. I was nervous that it was the N’Duja one, which is similar, as we haven’t eaten pork for over 8 years. We asked the waiter whether it was the burrata pizza, as we expected a ball and he said (in an arrogant manner) it’s the inside of a ball on the pizza, so my boyfriend finished it. Still reluctant to believe it was the right garlic bread, we asked another waitress as she took our plates, who confirmed it was N’duja. We explained that we do not eat pork, to receive no apology from the person who took our order wrong or the man who wrongly and arrogantly told us it was the burrata GB. They tried to defend this by saying there was a language barrier, but our conversation was coherent and clear. Had we had an allergy or religious belief preventing us from eating a certain ingredient then the outcome would have been worse. All they did was refund the one garlic bread we didn’t order after our meal was spoiled. Mistakes happen but the service was poor and they didn’t care. We paid and finished our meal at Noi Quattro which is much nicer, more authentic and far better service.
RESPONSE to owner:- he obviously ate the garlic bread because we had checked with the waiter after the first slice didn’t seem right, and he lied and said it was the burrata and hot honey one!! After he ate it I checked the photos on your instagram because I still wasn’t convinced it was right and saw the mistake! I didn’t know what n’duja tasted like, I’ve never eaten it until tonight! Thank you for showing such an interest in my dietary preferences, after the event! I do not eat pork or lamb. I was vegetarian for 8 years and recently started eating only organic/pasture raised beef and chicken sourced from responsible farmers, which means that we do not eat meat at restaurants unless we know it meets that criteria, just to clarify seems as you’re now...
Read moreLove this place so much and the food is always amazing but the service when sitting in the past two times has been a bit awkward. Firstly we had to wait a while to order and when someone finally came over it was to take our drinks and food order at the same time. Then whilst in the middle of eating our starters our mains were brought out with no room on the table to put them down. When we mentioned we weren’t finished with the course we were eating the staff’s solutions was to place the pizzas on the table next to us to go cold. After a few other strange encounters we received our bill with an 10% service charge added on. After the service we had received we decided not to pay it with the plan to give a cash tip to the server we believed was more on the pleasant side (there had been many throughout the meal rather than having one to build rapport with). Once we said to the gentlemen that took our payment (which we had planned to give the cash tip to) that we didn’t plan on paying the 10% service charge, he turned around and walked off without saying a word! Not one thank you, goodbye or “I hope you enjoyed your meal”! What a sour way to finish the experience!
I’m normally not bothered about these kind of things and not one to complain but the past two visits have lacked any kind of good and memorable service (this does not include the owner who is always lovely). Conversations and requests seemed to feel like they were received in a cold and strange way. It would be a perfect place if the customer service side was a bit warmer and focused on making the visit a full experience.
This has been one of my favourite places to eat for a long time and definitely will return for the pizza (maybe just for a takeaway now). I’m only leaving a review as I really want this place to do well and I’d just love to feel like I’ve had a good experience...
Read moreDirty, unhygienic, rude management and terrible food.
Don’t be deceived by Ciaoo’s Instagram account, this place is a dive and the food is very underwhelming.
Had terrible service by a middle aged Italian woman who we presume is the manager. She was unnecessarily unfriendly and rude. Sat us down at a scruffy table and gave us a scruffy disgusting crumpled crusty menu and then just walked away. No greeting, no smile, no talking us through the menu or letting us know in advance what menu items weren’t available, no check backs and slapped a 10% service charge on the bill.
Restaurant is dirty. It’s an open plan kitchen and didn’t see the kitchen team wash their hands once. The equipment to get the pizza out of the oven was just left on the floor. Noticed a box of mozzarella just left out on the side next to the hot pizza oven for the entire duration of our visit.
The toilets are nothing short of disgusting; there’s just one toilet available for the whole restaurant so you spend a long time queuing and then once inside it’s so scruffy and unhygienic.
The drinks on offer were awful. There’s a selection of ‘spritz’ but they really were the worse drinks we’ve ever had. I don’t know how an Italian place can make an Aperol spritz that badly. Needless to say; we didn’t finish our drinks. The pizza was just predominately crust, then soggy in the middle with gone off tasting mozzarella on top. Just really poor unenjoyable pizza. The rocket salad was the most laughable item, just a handful of rocket on a small plate with a drizzle of balsamic.
Overall, would not recommend this place. Next time, we’ll stick to Rudy’s or one of the other many decent Neapolitan pizza places...
