This was my 3rd visit to Bay Tree House. We were greeted by Cleo who is a lovely and very caring person who cannot do enough for you. This house is not your usual B&B it’s more like a cosy family run hotel. The rooms are spotless and nicely decorated . The hospitality tray contains everything you would want and more even chocolate and bottled water also milk in the fridge which is all complimentary. There is also small bottles of red, white & rose wine plus cans of gin & tonic these can be paid for by using the honesty box provided. They have a menu for breakfast but we kept to the traditional full English which is so nice and cooked fresh by Cleo’s Husband Leigh who is also a lovely man. You can choose pancakes smoked salmon with eggs cooked any way you want them and more but it is best to let Cleo or Leigh know the day before so always read the information book in your room for options. To start your breakfast there’s cereals, orange juice and fruits such as mixed berries strawberries melon and fresh pineapple and a creamy yogurt that I add to them. Walking out you have the lakes 2 minutes walk away to the right and a 5 minute walk to Lord street to the left. The Station is just 10 minutes walk tucked away in the middle of the high street shops such as Marks & Spencer’s River island etc. Along Lord street there are numerous coffee shops cafés restaurants even a Wetherspoons which is at the far end of Lord street most of them have pavement seating areas. My Niece came for the day and she was so surprised as she had only been with her children to the beach and the fun fair and didn’t know about the rest of it. Sadly the pier was closed for repair which apparently is going to take some time but all in all it’s a lovely traditional seaside resort with the must have fish & chips ( The Old Swan chippy restaurant) and in the evening along Lord Street there are restaurants serving every kind of cuisine . Not much more to be said really...
Read moreMy wife and I have returned home today (16th Sept 21) after a brilliant two night stay at the Bay Tree House, Guest House. Our hosts, Cleo and Leigh are extremely friendly, helpful and will do everything to ensure that all your needs are met. The breakfasts were superb (especially the full English) and with a wide range of choices. Our room (No 6) provided a pleasant lakeside view together with a slight view of the sea in the distance. Facilities are provided for making tea and coffee as well as a complimentary tray filled with biscuits, drinking chocolate, bottled water and also speciality sachets of tea and coffee. Our room was a good size, well decorated and well furnished with a particularly comfortable mattress for a great night's sleep. The bathroom has a great power shower with many complimentary, top quality toiletries. Throughout the hotel everywhere was spotlessly clean and it was set in a very quiet location. Limited parking is available on site which needs to be arranged in advance subject to availability. We will certainly return to this gem in the...
