Ok, this started off really badly. Arrived on a Sunday to find the restaurant closed at 830. Went down for dinner about 8. Ordered a black and blue burger, they brought a burrito. Had an argument about it then maybe about 20 minutes later at about quarter to nine I got my meal ....worst meal I have ever had in a hotel, a lump of the sole of a trainer between some dry bread and cold chips... No one around to complain to, kitchen closed. The rest of the week the food was good to very good, nothing was excellent, but nothing average, the bar staff excellent, rooms comfortable. Staff on reception were excellent. But Walsall is awful, but that, in and of itself is not, alone, a criticism of the Premier Inn. I will stay again. Probably not on a Sunday night.

Everything has gone drastically downhill since my last visit a couple of months ago. Carpet, and furniture is heavily stained withinground food, even at breakfast there's still chips and food on floor from previous evening. Tables although wiped are sticky and missing napkins, cutlery and condiments, no matter what time of the evening it is. Even with just a dozen people in the restaurant, it takes 20 minutes to get a basic fish and chips, with cold chips and peas. Forget about getting your ordered ice cream desert, I gave up waiting after 1.5 hours. Breakfast is a lottery. So, sadly despite my glowing appraisal a few months ago, with great customer service, it's now a poor example of its former self. Even the Premier Inn standards that the restaurant is attached to have also dramatically negatively slipped.

On entering we were shown to a table which needed cleaning, a young girl wiped it over and left the table wet so we cleaned it with the paper towel given to us. We cleaned the remaining dirt up (picture shown) chairs were dirty and need a recover. My son went to the bar to order a cocktail and he overheard that they were no longer going to be serving cocktails which we found disappointing. The food was good quality, we couldn’t fault the meals although they brought out the sauce when we had nearly finished our meal. We then ordered puddings but we were told that it was too late to order them. Once we had spoken to the manager who was very friendly, the issue was soon resolved so that’s the justification for the 3 star review, it’s certainly not the ritz but could be better.

A few years ago I thought Brewers Fayre wasn't up to much but now I think they are very good. The value is brilliant, especially for kids meals and the staff are friendly at this branch. The good is straight forward but cooked well, with a decent carvery, especially for the price. I hope they don't shift from this balance in terms of value. As with all hospitality staffing levels are tight but the people who work here are always friendly and constantly busy serving, tidying, replenishing. I don't know staff names but the manager/assistant manager with the dark hair, and the man with the dark hair and the red uniform shirt on, always seem to be on when we come and they are always smiling, talkative and nice to my daughter. We will keep coming back.

Arrived just after 7pm on Saturday night and found ourselves an unreserved table. Unfortunately a large group was arriving later that evening and that area should have been reserved. Laila was very polite when informing us and found us an alternative table. We ordered our food from the festive menu. Laila was attentive and diligent while looking after us at our table. Our drinks were made by Brad who is an absolute star. The chocobox martinis require a few different elements and a lot of shaking, he did it all while having a friendly chat. The final presentation of the drinks were very pretty and bought a little Christmas cheer.

Best carvery I've had in a while! Great selection of veg and other sides such as Mac and Cheese and potato gratin. The meat was cooked lovely and plenty of it! Yorkshire puddings were straight out of the oven and sooo good! As a table of 5, we all had the carvery and were all impressed. Also had desserts and they were really good. We had caramel apple Betty, chocolate brownie and kids sundae. Couple of things for improvement. There was a big queue at the bar to order food and drinks. The furniture could do with a refresh. Will definitely be returning for our next carvery.
