Terrible. Visited around 7pm on a Friday and it was quite busy. The hostess at the front desk rudely informed us the wait would be around 20 minutes. Accepting that maybe she was having a bad day, we went and enjoyed another establishment before returning there around 9pm when they were much less busy. There was a variety of pub meals clearly labeled. We had hoped to get a sharing platter but wanted the scampi swapped for something else due to fish allergy. The lady behind the bar notified us this was not possible, the only option was to have the platter full price and the kitchen would just not cook the scampi and that is now the meal is prepackaged. However as the other items had still come into contact with the scampi this would not be acceptable as could trigger an allergic reaction. The attitude of the barmaid was extremely unfriendly so I quickly went back to my table. After further inspection of the menu we then opted for chicken skewers which arrived cold and tough sitting upon partially cooked peppers and onions alongside fries which arrived without seasoning. My friend decided to try the garlic and lemon sauce with her skewers, having previously had a bad experience with the BBQ with had an almost banana under taste. The lemon skewers came swimming in a puddle of lemon juice with a garlic and herb glaze which unfortunately made the skewers both soggy and chewing adding to the miserable effect of the meal. The highlight of the meal was the undersized portion of macaroni cheese. I asked for some mustard to go with my meal. The waitress them proceeded to fill the small condiment pot to brimming to make a point. Two stars were given for the background music. The service and quality of the food was poor and the overall experience unpleasant and taxing. Would...
Read moreWent again today 30.03.2024 for the "Breakfast with the Easter Bunny" the booking was for 10.30am we arrived on time. Was seated and quickly ordered at the bar. We was seated on table 21 shortly after the booth became available and i explained to the staff we was sat on 21 and Could we move to the booth so they could watch the TV she said that was ok and cleaned the booth quickly. The food arrive at 11.15am after going to the bar to say we've been waiting already 40 minutes. The children was becoming bored and irritable. The whole thing is really difficult if you are a single parent I couldn't go to the bar without having to look for my children at the table. We couldn't do any activity again because I was on my own with two children. We wasn't impressed. And I was left feeling left out as a single parent again and unable to participate because I can't do two things at once. I feel the activities should have been on the tables and we should be able to order from the table Instead of running back and forth checking the kids are safe and still sat down whilst trying to do things etc. The whole thing was really stressful, frustrating and not enjoyable.
**Old review - Went for a breakfast with my two young children not long ago. Ordered the vegan breakfast. Seemed to be the first people in there so i thought the food might be better as they may have had more time to prepare it and the chef wouldn't be as rushed. I had a pile of hard burnt beans blobbed in the middle of my beans. I ordered a tea and toast to come with the vegan breakfast but again the tea came with cow's milk and the butter wasn't vegan. The vegan sausages were not very nice, minty and really hard to cut into / over cooked and I couldn't eat them. Won't be returning for breakfast...
Read moreRude, unhelpful staff, food standard gone down and quite unclean. 3-7 of us attend this place on a regular basis but we'll never go again and neither do we suggest does anyone else. And then to top off a bad night a male staff member swore at me from across the bar for everyone to hear and then shrugged his shoulders and said 'I don't care' referring to the fact that he swore and wasn't bothered about people hearing him. I reported him to head office in Bury St Edmunds. Keep away from this place. A few days later I received a call from the assistant manager Gorga who made no effort to resolve the issues. She was instead cold, aggressive and extremely defensive. She went on to alledge that not only had the staff but numerous customers too had made multiple complaints about myself(a national newspaper journalist and CEO of Effective Media Ltd ) and my friends (a junior doctor and a manager of five franchise businesses) who incidently didn't speak a word to anyone! This allegation was a complete and utter untruth!! Despite me asking numerous times what these complaints were she failed to tell me. That's because there weren't any!! I reminded her that there was cctv footage that would show myself and my friends were seated alone and further explained that we would be easy to spot since we were the only people in the whole place that were from ethnic minority backgrounds. I trust that the Hungry Horse will keep safe the cctv footage should it be required by their head office in any legal proceedings. And as for the member of staff who SWORE at me? Gorga conveniently FAILED to address that particular point! Awful place and terrible staff and management!...
