Review of Extended Stay America, Alameda
Rating: ★☆☆☆☆
I recently stayed at the Extended Stay America in Alameda, and I felt compelled to share my experience due to the numerous issues I encountered during my visit. Unfortunately, it was one of the most disappointing hotel experiences I have had, primarily due to cleanliness and customer service concerns.
Cleanliness: Upon my arrival, I was immediately struck by the poor state of cleanliness in the hotel. The hallways were unkempt, with debris and stains on the carpets that had clearly not been addressed in quite some time. Once I entered my room, I was even more disheartened. The kitchen area was particularly concerning, as there were crumbs and food remnants left in the drawers and on the counters. The bathroom was not much better—there were hairs on the floor, and the tub had visible grime that made me hesitant to use it.
The bedding also left much to be desired. It appeared that the sheets had not been changed, as there were stains and an unpleasant odor. In general, the overall lack of cleanliness indicated a neglect of basic hygiene standards, which is unacceptable for a hospitality establishment.
Staff Behavior: While the state of the hotel was disappointing, the behavior of the staff, particularly the front desk manager, significantly impacted my experience. When I approached the front desk to express my concerns about the cleanliness of my room, I was met with an unexpectedly rude and dismissive response. Instead of addressing my issues or offering solutions, the manager seemed more focused on dismissing my concerns rather than providing assistance.
Their lack of professionalism and unwillingness to engage constructively only added to my frustration. It felt as though my concerns were not valued, which is not what one would expect from a management team in the hospitality industry.
Conclusion: Overall, I cannot recommend Extended Stay America in Alameda based on my experience. The combination of poor cleanliness and unprofessional staff made my stay uncomfortable and disappointing. I hope that the management takes these issues seriously and works to improve both the condition of the hotel and the customer service training for their staff. There are many other options in the area that provide a more pleasant and professional environment—ones that I will certainly consider...
Read moreThe room was ok. The one star review is due to the customer service from the supposed hotel manager, an older woman with a stripe of White hair in her bangs. My main issue is because she had a little bit of a fit when I asked for housekeeping to come on my rescheduled day on Sunday and stated that I needed to be out the room after I put my cat up in her carrier, so that I wouldn’t get housekeeping again, unless I was out of the room due to fumes on the housekeeper uses . The next Friday from the date, they came in the room for housekeeping on the Sunday, Again the day that I requested so I can be present and available. There was a scheduled air cleaning for the air conditioner. I scheduled to be on Friday due to me having a pet in the room is not going to be caged. They scheduled the cleaning for the air conditioner on Friday requested and did wake me up at that time, I slept on a dress and let them into the room to be completed. Then I prepared to go to work for the day. When I return to the hotel room, I found that someone, Housekeeping, had entered the room and clean the room, even though that was not my schedule day. I was quite embarrassed because I had my cycle in the bed a day prior and it planned to clean it before the housekeeping it came, however They decided to invade my privacy instead on a day that I had not scheduled for housekeeping, and did it before I was able to do what I needed to do. This would not have been such an issue have the hotel management been so extremely rude about it, and threatened to tell my employer. had to throw away the linens that even though I would’ve taken care of that before it was an issue. The handling is ridiculous, completely unprofessional, and someone who does not need to be involved in hospitality whatsoever. I do wish that corporate reaches out to me or some other resolution because I am completely incensed and upset by this turn of events my stay was not peaceful Whatsoever primarily due to management unprofessionalism. I’d like to add that when I told them I was gonna do a review because I wanted some sort of recompense and I’m entering my room without permission she threatened to call my job who is paying for the room due to a rehabilitation of the property. Read moreAs a healthcare professional and business owner with over 21 years of experience. During my recent stay at the Extended Stay America – Marina Village, I encountered several issues concerning discriminatory practices by the manager, Dora. These issues significantly impacted my experience and warrant further attention.
Initially, I was informed by a different staff member that my key card would be activated for a full month, consistent with my monthly payment. However, upon subsequent interaction with Dora, she attempted to restrict my key card activation to weekly periods. This was only resolved after a discussion where I directly addressed my concerns about her approach.
Furthermore, inconsistent and discriminatory practices were observed regarding housekeeping services. While weekly cleaning was promised, scheduling was unreliable and often required multiple requests. Additionally, I experienced unprofessional behavior from some cleaning staff who insisted on my absence during cleaning, a demand not imposed on other guests. This was especially problematic given the late hour of cleaning—often around 6 pm—which interfered with my work schedule and rest. This late-hour cleaning appeared to target my room specifically, as other guests reported earlier cleaning times. The fact that this occurred despite my paying for monthly cleaning services is unacceptable. Finally, the assignment of only Black housekeepers to my room based on my race was particularly jarring and discriminatory.
I have already contacted Extended Stay America's general management to report these issues. I believe that all guests, regardless of race or background, should receive consistent and equitable service when they pay for monthly accommodation. The discriminatory practices I experienced at the Marina Village location are deeply concerning and require immediate action. I hope that appropriate measures will be taken to ensure future guests are not subjected to...
