Shirashoni Japanese restaurant provided an exceptional dining experience with its authentic cuisine and serene ambiance. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the elegant decor and soothing atmosphere, setting the stage for a memorable meal.
The menu at Shirashoni showcased a delightful selection of traditional Japanese dishes. The sushi and sashimi were expertly prepared, boasting freshness and exquisite flavors. Each piece was a testament to the chef’s skill and attention to detail. The tempura was crispy and light, while the udon noodles were perfectly cooked and immersed in flavorful broths. The balance of flavors and quality of ingredients truly impressed.
However, one aspect that was somewhat frustrating was the 20% service charge added to the bill. While the service itself was attentive and the staff displayed knowledge and professionalism, the mandatory charge felt a bit heavy-handed. It created an unexpected expense, particularly if one intended to leave an additional tip for exemplary service. This additional charge did detract from an otherwise enjoyable experience.
That being said, the overall quality of the food and the ambiance of Shirashoni Japanese restaurant made it a worthwhile visit. The staff remained accommodating and ensured a pleasant dining experience. The flavors, presentation, and attention to detail in the dishes showcased a commitment to excellence.
In conclusion, Shirashoni Japanese restaurant is a culinary haven for those seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience. While the mandatory 20% service charge may be a slight frustration, the exceptional flavors, meticulous preparation, and serene ambiance make it a restaurant worth considering for a...
Read moreI have been a fan of your business and a very long time loyal customer of your Brentwood location of probably 20 years. I have always provided raving recommendations to my friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers to come to Shirasoni. When I patronized your Alameda location for the first time on 08/24/24, I was extremely annoyed with your notice about the mandatory tipping policy of 20% that was posted on your front door as well as on the menu. 20% is really too high of a percentage in general. As a customer, I should have the discretion to tip what I feel is appropriate for the level of service I receive. It was an insult to me to demand that I help cover your employees' 20% part of their living wage. The OWNER should be providing the employees a living wage, not me! Especially in these hard economic times with rising inflation, your policy has definitely moved your business in the wrong direction and NOT customer friendly. For this reason, I will no longer support your business and will NEVER return to eat there again. Remember, customers dine at your restaurant by choice! It should NEVER be a requirement to demand that your customers pay a service fee! After reviewing other postings here, all other customers who commented about the mandatory 20% tip had negative vibes. It's TOO HIGH! You should remove this dumb policy altogether. Listen to your customers or you will continue to trend in the wrong direction for...
Read moreMy family and I ate here yesterday, as well as about 12 months ago. I remember liking it both times. I re-read a lot of reviews on Yelp! and am unsure of the situation for others. I did notice the place was 90% empty on a Sunday. Now this is very typical here in Alameda, but not for a "good restaurant." I was surprised, we even thought it might be closed as we arrived. Sundays would be a weird day to choose to be closed.
As we entered, there was somebody at the host table, and she even smiled at us, as we entered. I walked over to the "show tables" and saw very few people. Very surprised again, especially on a weekend.
We chose to sit on the non-show stage tables, and were very impressed with the food they serviced. I noticed the steak and fried rice were outstanding. I was not aware of any issues with the other plates and my family is not shy about complaining. When I got home later, I did try the chicken, and it had the rubbery consistency that others have complained about on this site.
As I was leaving, I looked at the bill. I noticed that an 18% service fee was added. I'm very glad I saw this, and I was surprised. I won't say it was illegal. But I've never been to even one restaurant that a service fee was added on for parties under say 8 people. That is a bit unnerving.
I thought the value of the food and quality was very good and I would...
