My 2 daughters and I showed up at 2:13 pm today and I knew right away it was going to be bad because the hostess stated she didn't know who would be waiting on our table and when she sat us she put the menus down and turned around and left. We sat there u til 2:40 pm without being assisted at all. No drinks, no we will be with you shortly, NOTHING!!! We frequent this Perkins VERY often. And have nothing gotten this kind of service. There part that made me most upset was that I can't tell you how many workers were standing behind the front counter chit chatting. It was around 6 or 7 and just laughing and telling stories and a couple of them even made eye contact with me and co ti used to carry on like we were nothing. There's not a visit from us that doesn't go below an $80 bill and that's putting it low. Yes I know things happen when people get busy but that's the issue here, they weren't busy if they had 6 or 7 people just standing behind the counter telling stories. I'm so disappointed because I have let so many little things slide while being there and even have gotten my debit card charged twice and didn't get the refund and was told to just come back and tell them we have free meals coming our way but I never did that first of all because I would be the most humiliated person and laughed at because anyone can walk into a restaurant and say hey I was promised this and that and gets told to kick rocks. I just feel like me and my daughters were nothing to your restaurant today and that bothers me with how much money I spend there. Do better Perkins staff. Not sure I will be back in for awhile. And this isn't the first complaint I've made and it was never addressed so I will be surprised if this gets any attention. Read moreThis review is strictly for the Ames, Iowa location. My mother ordered a grilled cheese sandwich & baked potato, I ordered a cheese burger & baked potato. Simple, right? We waited 50 min before my mom finally got up to find our waitress & ask where our food was! The waitress said she would check on it. Mom no more sat down & the waitress brought our orders out, sat them on the table, and left without a word. Ahem, a little ketchup & mustard please! I had one piece of wilted lettuce on my burger, which I removed, and two pickles. Guess I was supposed to ask for tomato, because it didn't come with it! The hamburger was luke warm & pink in the center when I cut it in half. (I like my hamburgers fully cooked). The cheese on mom's grilled cheese was already "formed" on the edges hanging outside the bread & the bread crust was hard. The butter on our potatoes was completely melted, I guess along with the sour cream that was supposed to also be on them. It was obvious that our orders had been sitting for quite some time! Our waitress never came back! We were both so hungry, we ate what we could & pushed the plates away from us. Our waitress then showed up to give us the bill and ask if we saved room for desert. Mom replied, "yes, plenty, but not after the way our meals were." The waitress says, "oh, well you could of said something, I would of gotten you new food." Mom replied that we would of, had she come back to check on us! Needless to say, when we went to pay, mom complained & our "meals" were then free. And, no, we did not leave a tip! Read moreVery disappointed with the terrible service. We were there between 10:30 am and 11:20 am today. Waitress didn't even come to our table once after bringing our food (which was not exactly what I ordered), not even to ask if we needed anymore water or coffee. We tried to get her attention couple times when she was passing by our table but she didn't even once look at our table or us. She completely ignored us and kept walking away. And when we were done with our breakfast and waiting on the check, again the same thing,pure ignorance. Finally she came near our table because the customer before us was back looking for her phone. Even then she didn't ask if we needed anything or if we were ready for our check. As she was leaving we had to get her attention to ask for our check. And when she finally brought the check she didn't even look at us or ask us how everything was and didn't even thank us for dining at Perkins. Not even a " have good day". Again pure ignorance like we were not there. No acknowledgement of our presence at all after bringing our food. We were very disappointed. And to top things off when we were at the register We got a glare from the cashier after my husband and I spoke few words to each other in our native language. We've been dining at Perkins, particularly at Ames location, for more than 26 years now but we're not planning to go back there anymore after how we were treated today.
