Chick-fil-A — Restaurant in Ames

If I could give this location 10 stars I would. Last week a Derecho blew through Ames and much of the state of Iowa. My girlfriend and I did not have power. We had lost electricity 2 days prior. We needed food and were desperately trying to find somewhere that was open with elextricity.

We found Chic fil A with a line that wrapped around the building, but with few options we waited. We were in line for almost 40 minutes before we got to the window to pay.

That's when it happened. I realized I had grabbed the wrong debit card. We only had money in one of our accounts and it was not for the card we grabbed. I told the woman at the window what happened and prepared to drive off.

The woman was a manager who without even thinking, comped the meal and gave it to us for free. This gesture almost brought me to tears. After everything we had been through in the previous 2 days, this woman out of the kindness of her heart gave us our food for free.

She did NOT have to do this. It made our entire week. I wish i had stopped to ask her name so I could thank her personally but they were so busy and I didn't want to take up more precious time.

Just experienced the worst customer service I’ve ever had at Chic fil a. We came through the drive through and there was only one car in-front of us so they weren’t busy. One of the workers came up to our car and didn’t even say hello just told us to start ordering. We asked if we could possibly do two separate orders and she just said “no” so we were a little confused but just went with it. She didn’t ask us what size for our drinks or fries, or even give us time to say. I asked for a frosted dr. Pepper because I’ve gotten it at a few other locations and instead of saying “we can’t do that” she just wrote me down for a completely different drink without asking. I found that out when we got to the window and they handed me something different. We politely said thats not what we ordered and asked for just a regular dp instead. The lady at the window was rude and said the wrong drink was what we ordered and when i said i didn't she simply said nothing, aggressively took the wrong drink out of the carrier and made a big deal out of it. This was my first CFA stop at the Ames Iowa location. I made a breakfast run at 9am and there where four or five customers just hanging out, snacking and messing with their computers. Two chicken biscuits, potato rounds and lemonade to go. As with all Chic Fil A's the service was impeccable with a wonderful greeting and clean uniforms. Might I make a few requests of the headquarters? Get rid of the potato rounds and the casket them come in. It just reminds me how few you really get and it just stores grease. Your customers want and love the waffle fries, so why aren't you serving them for breakfast? Second, why can't I get a chicken sandwich at breakfast? The biscuits are top notch, but sometimes you just want the famous sandwich. I'm assuming it's the same chicken, so swing around and grab a bun for Pete sakes :) lastly when you take my order let it linger in the back for a few minutes, it will break the illusion that they have been sitting in a warmer back there.
