I hate to give Alamo Inn a 5 Star rating because I don't want others packing into my little gem next to Disneyland. I saw all of the past negative reviews and at first so I was expecting the worst, but as you would have it we have had a terrific experience, so much so that I am writing this after our second stay at the hotel, but to be fair and make this a helpful review I will note the pros and cons of my two stays. Before I get to that let's just make one thing abundantly clear for readers of this review, if you are expecting the Grand Californian in Disneyland's California Adventure please stop reading here, open your wallet and fork out that $600+ a night because you will not find that here and may be one of the negative reviewers, so what that stated here we go.
PROS: Price Point (Let's be honest, we wouldn't be looking into a 2.2 Star Rated Hotel if price wasn't a point for us, so let's just get that out of the way and this hotel has a good one.)
Room Size (We stayed in the suite and found it had ample room for our needs and little extra to move around)
Modern Room Upgrades (Had more of a condo feel than a hotel room, I enjoyed the concept.)
Cleanliness (Room and bathroom were up to par, no complaints here)
Comfy Bed (It is not a sleep number by any means, but it is not a box springs with a sheet either, so right in the middle comfy)
Newer Television (Nice Flat Panel, looked like it had HDMI Connection, so bringing the Google Chrome on the next trip)
Mini Fridge and Microwave (Always a plus, best way to save $$$ on a weekend trip)
Location, Location, Location (So close to Disneyland it is amazing for the price, 10 minute walk to Downtown Disney, hop on the Monorail and you are in.)
Staff (Extremely helpful and nice folks, helped direct us to a nearby store for our needs and gave us insight on where was good to buy from and they were spot on in our case.)
Patio (Nice little patio area in front of the room, great for a little lunch break.)
Pool and Jacuzzi (Great to have, but this falls both in my Pros and Cons list.)
Proximity to Everything (Freeway is close, Disneyland is close, Shopping Center, grocery store, restaurants, and Fast Food just down the street)
CONS:
Front Desk Area (Though the front desk attendants are awesome and helpful I have only seen one person up front at a time when staying there. I know it is a smaller establishment and it helps keep the room cost down, but it would be nice to have someone available for those times when there is a line of guests checking in and phone calls coming in for room reservations. My hats are off to the current staff because the ladies up there are on top of it.)
Towels (As a guy I am not a picky person for linens, but the towels there seemed small and like drying off with a brillo pad, like someone spared no expense on the starch, second trip we brought our own, so crisis averted, but better towels needed.)
Doorways (An odd tidbit I know, but the doors seemed to stick in our bathroom, so much so you thought you were locked inside, it seemed like the last part they need to address in their renovation.)
Pool and Jacuzzi (Seeing the time of year we are here it was partly understandable, but slightly disappointing the pool was cold and dirty and the jacuzzi did not heat up. So though they are a plus to have on site, they would be better if they functioned properly)
That is all I have for Cons for the hotel. I hope this review was descriptive and helpful for others planning on staying here. Though I would like to keep my low price hotel a secret from the rest of the masses and let them think it is a complete hole in the wall I would be hard pressed to do so as my stays were quite satisfactory and the savings for my family in our trip could be used by most families planning a trip to Disneyland....
Read moreThis is probably the best hidden gem hotel in Anaheim! We really enjoyed our stay there! My hubby and I both thought the bed was the most comfortable bed we had ever slept in, in Anaheim and elsewhere! It's a small boutique hotel and it's privately owned. We like supporting small businesses, and staying here also enables us to do just that. They didn't nickel and dime us like many other hotels do. The parking was free, there was no resort fee. The room was so clean!! The room had a really good Dorm size fridge, a microwave oven, and a K cup coffee maker with all the supplies you'd need for it (Stir sticks, sweetener, powdered creamer, etc). The A/C worked very well and kept our room nice and cool. There was a strong hair dryer too, (although there was only a hot setting and no cold setting). The shower head was strong with plenty of hot water for showering after a long day at the parks. The ice machines worked very well providing us with plenty of ice as needed. The free wifi worked very well. There was a small pool near the Front Desk area of the hotel. We saw several kids enjoying themselves in it. We were only there for 3 days after not having been since 2020, so we didn't spend any time at the pool. Overall, our stay there was wonderful! There is ART shuttle access on Route 9 if you need to catch the shuttle to/from Disneyland. If you prefer, you can walk to Disneyland through Disney Way and the Downtown Disney entrance. It's about a 15-20 minute walk to the gates of Disneyland. Years ago, we could have cut through the Grand California hotel, but they now require a key to enter via that back entrance, so going through Downtown Disney is the only way to enter the park if you choose to walk. If you choose to return to the hotel from Disneyland at the end of the night, note that ART combines route 9 & route 11 to Katella and Ball Road. The second night of our stay the ART shuttle showed this info. On the 3rd night, the ART shuttle did NOT show this info, and if it were not for another driver elling us that was the bus we needed to get on, we would have missed it, because the driver didn't update the info on the front of the bus. It only said Route 11. So keep that in mind if you do not want to walk back to the hotel. (We saw that same driver/bus earlier and didn't get on it because it said Route 11, not Route 9 & 11. And she saw us sitting there and didn't say a word.) So just keep that in mind. This information regarding the ART shuttle applies to anyone staying at the hotels along that area of Katella. It is a totally do-able walk though, and we did it the first night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Alamo Inn and Suites and will definitely be staying there again! Two thumbs...
Read moreThis place is an absolute diamond! I loved my stay at the Alamo Inn! I came here from the valley for a hair show at the convention center and let me tell u this place was perfect. Let me start by saying I took a gamble booking this place since I have never been to Anaheim before and the reviews were very mixed on Google. Well, I am here to clarify all of that let’s start with the office staff. The check-in is at 3 PM and you must check out by 11 AM. The front desk staff is very nice and helpful in the lobby is very clean. The property is kept clean and looks amazing. It has a pool and a covered hot tub and also offers a washer and dryer to do laundry. There are a few vending machines on site and a couple ice machines that are all in working order. I rented a king size room for two nights and the cost is in a reasonable budget. I paid under 110 a night and their incidental fee was only $75! compared to some of the other hotels in the area that are over $200 $250 and Most of the hotels in the area also add a add a resort Fee at $25 a day. Not this place. Now this place doesn't serve breakfast but u are literally like 500 steps or less away from a Denny's. The convention center is 1 block away and u can get into disney from either entrance to the downtown district in less that 10/15 min. Tons of restaurants nearby and a few stores such as cvs or walgreens. The room is so nice and the heater/ ac works great. The room is super clean and spacious! In the room i stayed i had hardwood floors, fresh paint and recessed lighting, microwave, fridge, tv, desk, chair, blowdryer, coffeemaker(with coffee and utensils), hangers , towels and alarm clock. So clean they even put a seal on the toilet to verify it has been cleaned. The water pressure in the shower is great and they offer complimentary full size shampoo, conditioner and body wash. They also have a coupon on their room key holder for Carolinas Italian restaurant. I ordered a large pizza, spaghetti, salad, bread and 4 cans of soda for $30 (came to $40 after delivery and tax). There was enough food for a whole family for 2 days! I highly recommend the Alamo Inn and plan on staying here in the future. I didnt take any photos as soon as i walked in but i will take some and post in another review...
