Not recognize elite status||This was the first time an IHG hotel did not recognize my elite status. No acknowledgment. And no welcome points were mentioned. When I inquired about the possibility of a room upgrade, the front desk staff did not say nothing was able. Instead, she said the room we booked was already an upgrade. She is incorrect because a room on the reservation is just that. It is not an upgrade.|||Broken/worn out things||- Old and worn fitted sheet for the sofa bed mattress. If they do not want to replace it, I rather they remove it. It does not even fit. Glad I did not use it, because in the morning, I then realized it had a big, light, yellow stint!||- One of the bowls' edge was chipped, a brush had a worn handle, a leg rest had a dime size hole. ||- They just make the room's overall appeal diminished.|||Poor design/arrangement!||- When laying down on the sofa bed, my feet could touch the dresser! There was no space between the sofa bed and the dresser, so could not walk to the other side of the sofa bed. |||Noise||- The walls were thin. We could hear people open/closing doors. The fridge was noisy at times too. Strange. Someone next door was hitting some metal for about 10-15, and it was bed time!|||Alarm flash light ||- There was an alarm light in the ceiling. It kept flashing once every 10 secs or so. |||Sofa bed||- Soft and thin mattress with different black dots on it sat on a weak frame. It made crackly noise when I turned. As mentioned my feet could touch the dresser! And the stint on the fitted sheet! All these plus the noise made it an unpleasant experience!|||Breakfast ||- Just ok. Cold hard boiled eggs (peeled), scrambled eggs, pre-made omelette, sausages, fried potatoes, 3 types of cereals, hot oak meals, waffle station, 3 types of muffins, Chobani yogurt, Pearl soy milk. The clock in the breakfast area had been wrong for sometime. It was faster than the real clock. The staff base on the correct time to start and end breakfast.||- The waffle machines (2 of them) were the most popular.||- Breakfast staff were attentive.|||Trams at Mickey and Friend's Parking||- The hotel provided print instructions to walk to the M&F Parking to take the tram. On Ball Rd, walk across the street to Disneyland Dr (paved) and walk S on Disneyland Drive, and then cross the street at Magic Way. After we crossed, we were wondering where the tram was. We asked someone. He pointed out we needed to walk all the way inside the parking structure toward the NW direction. It is like walking in an U shape but starting at the opposite end of the U. We decided to continue walking to the Downtown Disney. We made the right choice, because the entrance where security were is just a few mins more walk away. Another few mins walk, we arrived at the shops/restaurants area. By the way, plastic water bottles are fine, but no glass bottles when going through security.|||ART bus||- We did consider taking the ART bus, but it came by once 25 mins. According to reviews, tickets could not be split among different people. Therefore we did not use it.|- If they really want people to take public transportation they should make it more frequent like 10/15 mins, make the tickets (passes available on board or install some ticket machines in each stops like the Deuce bus in Las Vegas).|- The lack of PDF maps made it inconvenience as well.|- Also, I was told we needed to be online all the time to use the digital passes/tickets!|- The online support runs late at night. This is a plus for those who need live support.|||Ask for possible early check in and late check out ||- With regular check in at 4p and check out at 11a, highly recommend you ask for earlier check in and late check out. We were able to get both.|||Credit card authorization||- They put a hold of USD250 upon check-in. If there is any incidentals they will deduct it from the $250 and return the rest to you when you check out. It will not be right away.|||Lack of communication among staff?||- On the day when we checked out there was a maid knocked on the door and said something in Spanish. We did not understand. Later she came back with her colleague who asked us if we needed service in English. We planned to check out on that day so the answer was no. |||Service/no service needed tag?||- Some rooms have a magnet for please do not distribute. But do not have another magnetic for service is required. Some rooms have the traditional paper tag.|||Pool||- Heated.|||Parking||- $25 per night. There are both covered parking and open air parking spaces.|||Check-out||- It was unusual during check out, then I was greeted with an acknowledgement of my elite status. |||| Though not mentioned by the staff, turned out I received an email about the welcome points. I have not checked my IHG...
Read moreAlert: Unauthorized staff entered our room without knocking or announcement multiple times. The first time scared my little children while I was using bathroom and the second time upset my infant baby (see cons #2 for details).
We stayed in the Staybridge Suites for 5 nights for our Disneyland trip. We are a family of 4 with little children. Here are the Pros and Cons of this property. Pros: this property is 5 mins driving to the theme park. The receptionist upon arrival was friendly and she offered us a discount for parking since we stayed for 5 nights.
Cons: there are so many drawbacks of this property. The property is heavily used and aged. It needs upgrades or better maintenance. For example, the chairs and the ottomans have worn out and have very rough edges. The Carpet is also worn out. The staff is very unprofessional and needs training. They entered our room multiple times without our authorization with no knocking or announcement while our DND sign was on. On the first day we arrived, I was using bathroom and my daughter was in the living room while my husband was out to pick up food. There was a man entered our room without knocking or announcement and once he saw my daughter he closed the door without saying anything. My daughter told me and I called the front desk right away. At first they asked me if we asked for room service and I said no. After further confirmation, they said it was the supervisor who entered our room accidentally and he meant to enter a different room. The front desk lady assured us nobody else had our room key and we shouldnât worry about it. No apology or anything after I said I felt unsafe and scared that a stranger could enter our room. We have two little children and were scared by this stranger.
The second time was on the 4th day of our stay. One male staff entered the room without knocking or announcement, and my husband asked why he was here and he said he thought my husband ordered some stuff which we didnât. Again, he exited with no apology. My infant baby was sleeping and got woke up and upset. Furthermore, what if we were about to take a shower and naked? This was not acceptable and I didnât get any apology but a simply words saying âno need to worry.â When we checked in, we were told the property will offer light room service everyday which means towel change and garbage pickup. But on the 4th day, nobody came to do the room service. When we called, we were told we shouldnât expect room service everyday. So our garage didnât get picked up. The room has a bar table with high chairs which is very difficult to have food with little children. With a kitchen in the room, itâs hard to understand why thereâs no standard table. There is only one elevator that was shared by both guests and employees. Itâs already very crowded with many guests during rush hour, but what made it worse is usually the staff with cleaning carts or tools also use the elevator so itâs nearly impossible to ride in the same elevator on first try. So expect for a 10 min wait in rush hour. We were almost late for our breakfast/dinner reservation because of the elevator. One trick we share is you push the up and down buttons at the same time if you mean to go down, when the elevator comes up, get on it to occupy the space so at least you can get in the elevator. As an IHG member, we asked for the late check out but was told no availability. Sure no problem, we understood. However, we have the right to stay in our room until 11AM to check out. What was annoying was that, the staff kept checking on us: one time at 9:15AM, then at 10:25AM and 10:55AM even with the âDo Not Disturbâ sign on.
Overall, the location of this property is good but everything else is bad. I am not sure why this hotel has such a high rating which is so misleading for me to book here from start. I will not recommend staying here. With the same budget, you can find a...
Read moreI will start with the positives. I love Staybridge Suites in general and have stayed at these hotels many times. The hotels are clean, the rooms are very nice, the breakfast buffet and the evening "snacks" are good and convenient when on a trip. After staying at numerous Staybridge Suites, including the older one in Anaheim, we decided to try this one since it is within "walking distance" of Disneyland. If you consider a 40 minute walk within walking distance, then it absolutely is within walking distance. In reality, after walking all over the parks and Downtown Disney, walking back to the hotel was brutal. The option to go back and rest in the afternoon before going back to the park in the evening was out the door with this hotel. To make matters worse, we booked 5 months in advance. We booked a 2-bedroom suite (which is what we always book with these hotels, they are amazing and well worth the cost). What we do is have the kids in one room and my husband and I stay in the other room. It's nice because there is a little living-room and kitchen that we can congregate in when someone is napping or getting ready. We get to the hotel, after a 6.5 hour drive, to hear they "over booked" and we were put in 2 rooms. Obviously that doesn't work, we aren't going to put our under 5 year old kids in a room across the hall. So my husband and I had to stay in 2 separate rooms, each of us with a kid, and walk between rooms to share the toiletries we packed together. I explained to the staff and was told there was nothing they could do for us. I decided to look for another hotel and came across the Staybridge in the search engine. I looked for the 2-bedroom suite to see if it would pop up, and it didn't. I looked for it all the way to October and somehow it isn't offered at all! Pretty sure we were lied to about this room's existence. I asked to talk to the manager when we were told about rooms on the 1st day, and was told he would call us in the morning. He never did. He never tried to contact us about the matter, bad customer service on his part. So on our last day, literally on our way out of the hotel, I asked to talk to the manager about the matter. One would think the manager would instantly walk out to talk to us and apologize while explaining the situation. Not this manager, he made us wait for him for 10 minutes. When he walked in through the door from outside, I thought he was another employee as he walked up and acted like I was in his way. So I moved out of the way saying "hello" at the same time. He said "can I help you?" I said, "we are waiting to speak with the manager." He said "that's me." Call me old fashioned (I am 31 years old) but I would think the manager would walk up with a smile, put his hand out, and greet his customers while telling us his name. I have no idea what his name even is to this day! He was rude, he acted like we had no reason to be upset, he didn't smile, he acted like we were a bother to him. I wasn't rude t him by the way, I just wanted to talk to him about the matter. To top it off, we recommended this hotel to a friend who also booked the 2-bedroom suite for the same week we were there, and her room was also "over booked' AND she was double charged! To sum it up, Staybridge Suites is a great hotel. We will stay with this hotel chain again. If in the Disneyland area, it will be the other Staybridge Suites hotel, the one on Manchester Ave, the manager there is so friendly and very welcoming! The Staybridge Suites Anaheim at the Park has terrible customer service; I wouldn't risk booking...
