"It's so bad, it's funny." That was my teenage daughter's initial take on room 314 at the Super 8 Motel on Disneyland Drive. We usually stay at the Hampton Inn Anaheim, and this place, my friend, is no Hampton Inn. I took great pains in researching cheap Disneyland area hotels on Trip Advisor, and the one recurring complaint about the Super 8 was the 'chemical' smell in the rooms. I can confirm that complaint. What is that smell?!? It's like they just gassed the Kurds before we showed up. OK, besides the bouquet, this place really isn't that bad. It's what you'd expect for $50/night. One note of curiosity for Room 314. There are no irons in the room, yet no less than 6 feet from the door is an iron burn in the carpet. Some idiot must have brought one, and then decided to leave their 'calling card'. Most of the lighting in the room looks very yellow-ish, so if you get jaundice, no one will know. There is a fluorescent tube light unit over the sink/vanity area. The towels were pretty soft, but the washcloth must have been from their 'shards-o-glass' line. Maybe that's for extra exfoliation? The shower provided immediate hot water, but the shower head was located approx five feet from the floor. Made me feel like I was showering in the shire, over at Bilbo Baggins' house.. The hotel is located very close to a freeway, but I couldn't hear it. However, I could hear little feet stomping around the balcony outside my door. The hotel advertises the fact that they are 'close' to the Disneyland tram service. Close is defined as a mile walk, where you must rely on crosswalk lights to traverse three streets. This is less than enjoyable on a cold wet day/evening. The room's temperature was comfortable. The heater worked perfectly, which was much appreciated since it was in the low 40s (and rainy). For some reason the alarm clock is set an hour early (I guess it saves time having to set the clocks behind next month), so I woke a tad earlier than desired. On the plus side, I was one of the first in for the free continental breakfast. They offer 2 cereals, generic frosted flakes and what appeared to be apple jacks. There was also 12 slices of bread, and a few donuts in a clear case, next to the toaster. Coffee, milk and a generic variance of Tang comprised the beverage offering. The breakfast begins promptly at 7am. I arrived at 7:12. By 7:18, all of the donuts were gone, and remained noticeably tardy to the time I left, which was around 7:35. The next day, I tried the breakfast again, and went with the apple jacks and a doughnut. They weren't real apple jacks, but that was expected. The doughnut was a few days old, and that should have been expected. Thank goodness for my eating disorder, or I would have had to have thrown it away. While choking down the stale pastry in the lobby, I passed the time watching Good Morning America on their attractive flat panel. Returning to the room, I noticed that someone had liberated the 'No Moleste' placard from my door. So I returned to the front desk where I picked up a new one. Since I'm all about writing a 'full service' hotel review, I decided to hit the whirlpool once I returned from the park. Shortly after descending the slippery steps and immersing my nubile body into the bacteria frappe, a trio of young canucks arrived, two of which were sporting 2-piece bathing suits which demanded your attention. Not wanting to appear as the creepy-old-guy, I spent the next 30 minutes diverting my field of vision, trying not to ogle the Canadian Rockies. Overall, I would have to recommend this motel. It is cheap, but I feel you get more than you pay for. It's no Hampton Inn, so your expectations should be in line with low budget lodging. If you just need a place to lay your head while you hit it hard in the park, then this is the place for you. And they gots a jacuzzi to soak your tired feets in

All the other reviews say this place is horrible. First let's remember this is a 2 Star Motel! If you were expecting or use to staying in a fabulous 5 star resort then you will be very disappointed. Now that we have all established that this is a 2 star motel, the reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the pillows and the smell of the room. This motel is older. I noticed all the windows of the rooms were cracked open. Upon entering the room, they smelled musty, like it had not been occupied in a while. We had 4 rooms in our group and each one smelled the same. Now I realized why the windows were open. The microwave and fridge were also not plugged in. There was a note on them that they stay unplugged whole the room is unoccupied to save power. Well it was unfortunate because our food for our trip didn't get put into a cold fridge. The bed was hard and the pillows were small. The sheets were rough and the towels were tiny and scratchy. This quality is expected for a 2 star motel. So if you are expecting something nicer, you should stay somewhere nicer (aka more expensive). The breakfast are is spacious. They offer frozen eggo waffles, fresh donuts, bread, fruit, oatmeal and 2 different cereals. There is cold and hot water machine, juice/milk and a toaster. That is it! No protein. Again, 2 star motel. Everything was very clean and the lobby was updated. The rooms had laminate wood flooring and newer paint. I did not see anything disgusting, so as long as you can live with a 2 star motel Tinley your head down while spending allndaybat Disneyland, then this is the place for you. Then walk to Disneyland takes about 20 min. We arrived to the motel in the morning and we were able to leave our car there and same with the day of check out. Which saved us the extra 20.00 per day at Disney parking structure. I am sure this is subject to change depending on the availability and time of year. This was a big deciding factor in our hotel search for us. Other more expensive hotels charged for parking and were not walking distance.

The rooms were good, and the location near Disney is ideal. Reasons I took off stars are the parking, its continental breakfast and the room service. Parking is extremely tight, especially since they roped off much of the parking lot. The continental breakfast had no protein, and consisted of toast, donuts, and cereal. And the room service almost got me jailed! To explain that last line, I was there for work collecting air pollution samples that I store in coolers. Ignoring my Do Not Disturb request, room service entered my room, saw USB chargers, 6 large coolers, and an 6 oz container of Sodalime (used in one of my instruments), so they called the police. While out sampling, I received a message from the Anaheim police department that I needed to immediately return to the hotel. Upon arriving, there were several fire trucks, half a dozen police vehicles, and a hazardous materials unit afraid I had bombs in the room. After answering their questions and verifying my employment, they smiled, told me they were just trying to keep Disneyland safe, and left. Meanwhile, Super 8 management was completely unapologetic and dismissive, despite the major inconvenience and embarrassment. The reality is this was excessive, and could have easily resulted in major legal expenses, detention, and extreme personal inconvenience.

We decided to get a room here because of the close proximity to Disneyland pretty much walking distance. I thought that sinceWyndham had took over super 8 and a bunch of other hotels, I thought that they would have been upgraded. The hotels are okay they don't look like they have been upgraded or anything done to them, I also had a problem it was hot those days that we went up there and we expected the pool to be open since we had asked when we rented if it was going to be available and they said yes. So to our surprise we get there and it was those days that was hot and humid we wanted to go into the pool my kids my wife and I and they said it was closed. We were upset because again they had told us the pool would be available they said that there was an issue with the lights or something and then it needed cleaning. But we were only staying there three nights so that was one night down, we went the next day and asked if it was going to be available and they said possibly. so at about 2:30 p.m. the next day they told us it's going to be ready to go in we decided to hold off on going to Disneyland and take a swim for a few hours to cool off before we went back. They had a nice continental breakfast per usual your normal cereal Donuts bagels, your orange juice apple juice coffee and so on. also another thing most hotels around that area has a shuttle going to and from Disneyland and dropping you off this one didn't so you have to either catch the bus or walk sort of inconvenient but you expect it.I had to say all in all it was an okay experience I definitely don't know if I would get a room there again next time we go to Disneyland you also have the Travelodge right next door they seem to have a lot of people there are plenty of parking oh and another thing the parking their situation was pretty pretty bad there was hardly any parking and they didn't open up the rear parking until about the third day we were there.the people working there were just young young girls you know they didn't really know much didn't seem like they had experienced couldn't answer a lot of your questions, so once again we may or may not rent there but there's also other places to rent close to it and they also have shuttle service...
