Had a concert Friday night, and this Holiday Inn, compared to other hotels in the area, was the best value I could find for my needs. I book all my hotel stays with the IHG app on my phone and knew about the amenities, and check-in, check out rules. My train arrived early, and I went to the hotel to drop off my bags first so I could explore a bit around town. The ladies at the desk kindly took my bags and put them in a room for later. I asked nicely if I could check in early to take a shower and drop off my stuff, letting them know i understood its really early. They told me instantly that there is no early check-in requests, and they also let other customers know that as well. I just wish they could have worked with me a little bit because I've been to other Holiday Inns and was able to check in early with issues at all, so I'm thinking it's the area.
The location is about a 15-minute walk from Downtown Disney, which is very convenient. I was able to cut through a walkway that led from Disneyland Hotel straight to Downtown Disney and surrounding areas. The ladies at the desk gave me a paper advertising the A-Way WeGo app, which has shuttles that take you to Disneyland every 30 minutes or so but for the life of me I could not get it to work for me. It just wouldn't find me any drivers, and it ONLY takes you to Disneyland. Found that out the hard way trying to go back home via the train. That's not really the hotel's fault, though, and more of an app issue.
At around 1:30 P.M. I got a notification from the IHG app that my room was ready and gave me a room number as well. When I went to the lobby to speak to the ladies about this, they couldn't understand it and asked if I had an email saying the room was ready because of their strict 4:00 P.M. check-in. In the end they told me that it wasn't my room and a room wasn't ready so I checked took a small nap in the lobby and my room was ready by 3:50 P.M.
The room itself was very clean and nice. No complaints, really. I'm mostly a solo traveler and just use hotels to sleep and rarely have time to take advantage of amenities like food, pools, etc. One of the ladies asked me if I wanted a breakfast buffet added on for $16 for Saturday morning, and I said yes, but I guess she forgot, and they wanted $22 the next day, and I refused. No big deal, but that sucked a little bit.
Overall, the hotel was nice and clean. Would I stay again? Yes, I would, but communication with staff needs to be a little better. It's a very good and convenient location from Disneyland, so I highly recommend it if you're planning on going...
Read moreI am writing to share my disappointment regarding my recent stay at Holiday Inn & Suites Anaheim. Unfortunately, my experience during check-in left a negative impression due to the unprofessional behavior of the staff member responsible for my check-in, which I felt was far below the standards expected from your establishment.
Upon arrival, I immediately felt unwelcome. The staff member assisting me displayed little effort to listen or understand my needs, and I felt overlooked as a Silver member. While I observed other staff acknowledging Platinum members with professionalism, my membership status went unrecognized.
Additionally, I had a split reservation, and despite my request for the keys to cover the entire stay, I was asked to return for reprogramming and to make a second $100 deposit, despite my card details already being on file. This situation indicated a lack of process knowledge, resulting in unnecessary inconvenience.
What was more troubling was the sense of bias I observed. Unlike my interactions with the other courteous and professional staff, this individual neither greeted me nor my family at any point. On one occasion, my wife’s greeting was met with a blank stare and dismissal. Moreover, during an interaction with another colleague, I overheard the staff member comment that “you make me laugh when you say hello to guests,” making me feel awkward and unwelcome.
When I approached the front desk to request a late check-out, I was brushed off with a suggestion to “come back and check in the morning.” I understand this request depends on availability, but the response felt dismissive. Further, when I asked for a manager’s business card, I was provided only with a standard hotel card and was told there was no contact information available. The staff member could have at least written an email address for follow-up, but even this simple courtesy was missed.
On a positive note, I want to acknowledge and thank your other front desk and housekeeping teams. They consistently provided exceptional service, displaying warmth, professionalism, and attentiveness.
I hope that you take this feedback seriously. A guest’s first impressions are shaped by the welcome they receive, and I hope to see improvements in staff training to ensure all members uphold the standards your...
Read morethe location of this property is great if you are trying to go to disneyland or downtown disney with your friends/family, but lower your expectations with this hotel..
this hotel needs a major renovation. it just seems like i stepped back into the early 2000’s. the tv network they have is dish channel.. i didn’t even know dish channel was still around! so you can’t stream netflix or disney channel at all..
the radio set off early at 4am while we were trying to sleep, then it went off again at 6am.. we called the front desk and told them about the radio and they said they would just have maintenance come up and fix it.. i told the receptionist that we were still trying to sleep and if its ok if they come back later but they never followed up, woke us up again the second night. if you’re going to have radio’s still, have housekeeping reset it?! cuz i’ve never had to use a radio, im gen Z..
also, it’s $30 for parking overnight, then you have to pay for breakfast too (which i didnt so i don’t know how much it is) and this is the only hotel i’ve been to where they don’t offer any free coffee, hot water or even just a water dispenser... THEN when i tried using hot water on the hotel’s keurig, the water came out brown.. so i tried to use the microwave with my own water that i bought, but the microwave’s spinny thingie was out of place so we had to fix it.. then they only gave us one microwave friendly cup so the other cups i tried to use ARENT which i found out by trying to microwave hot water but only being met with the smell of melting plastic..
unfortunately i had to use most of my points i’ve saved up from being an IHG employee, due to my boyfriend needing to evacuate immediately because of the eaton fire burning his home.. but hey.. at least it was a free night.. it just wasn’t met with my expectations of IHG, especially since i’ve been a former employee from them.
seems like the owner is just trying to save and make as much money as he can.. but without renovation, just...
