There is much to enjoy at the Disneyland Resort as part of their 70th Anniversary celebration. We recently spent three magical days at the Disneyland Hotel Villas as DVC members as part of Genevieve’s birthday celebration. ||The parks were blacked out on our passes during this visit, and with the heat and summer crowds, we opted to make it a quiet weekend of fun activities. We had a very pleasant check-in and short wait for our room, which allowed us to enjoy the hotel shopping option and some great snack options near the pool. ||Once checked into our room, we made our way to the pool and spa and enjoyed a soothing soak and swim before lounging by the pool. It was the perfect way to start the trip following a long drive earlier that morning. ||After resting in the room, we enjoyed Donald’s Tales of Adventure character dining at the Storytellers Café in the Disneyland Grand California Hotel. Donald, Daisy, Goofy, Pluto, Clarabelle, and Pluto were on hand to visit and pose for pictures, and the buffet offered a mix of Prime Rib, Brisket, Ribs, and a carving station to go with soup, numerous sides, breads, and salads, as well as Pizza and dessert options galore. ||The food was very good and the service was amazing,g which set the tone for the evening well as our son and his Girlfriend joined us to have drinks at Splitsville while we took in the shops and music as well as some scenic 70th Anniversary displays and the amazing fireworks and music. ||Our Saturday was a bit hectic as we had to change to a larger room, as I had made two reservations, and there was some confusion with Bell Services despite a few calls prior, as we had been told that our bags would be picked up and stored until the new room was ready. With a pending reservation to Din Tai Fung and the clock ticking, the hotel manager was able to step in, and I barely made our reservation as Genevieve had gone on ahead. ||After a great lunch and a little Downtown Disney magic, our new room was ready and our bags had been delivered, and we had a nice welcome Birthday Bag and banner waiting for us, as well as some special decorations. ||Since our room had a microwave, toaster, fridge, and other kitchen elements, we opted to enjoy a quiet evening in and made use of some of the ready-to-eat dinners we brought from Dinnerly with us, and enjoyed a marathon of “Jaws” movies. ||The next day started with the Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Brunch, where Mickey, Minnie, Chip, Dale, and Pluto were on hand. The breakfast options were abundant, from Scrambled Eggs to custom omelets, bacon, sausage, cereals, yogurts, breads, as well as oatmeal, specialty dishes,s and carving stations. As the morning went on, options such as salad, chicken strips, fries, macaroni and cheese, and others arose. ||More time in downtown Disney for shopping and pictures followed, and we had a nice walk to work off our breakfast before we settled into the room for a relaxing afternoon and fireworks later that night. ||Our final morning was so nice that we did not want to leave,e as we had a nice breakfast in the room via the local coffee shop and relaxed knowing that we had a long drive and a busy week ahead, and were eager to make our magic last as long as possible. ||The checkout experience was smooth as we have come to expect, and we look forward to our next visits...
Read moreThis is an August 2025 review of Accessible ADA two bedroom three bathroom Villa at the Disneyland Hotel using DVC points: we had an excellent staycation at the Villas at the Disneyland Hotel. ||The Accessible ADA two bedroom Villa floorplan is not significantly different from a regular two bedroom Villa: the master bath has a roll-in shower for wheelchair access and a vanity bathroom counter that allows one to remain seated in a wheelchair. The master bath change means there is only one sink (not a big issue) but still has the beautiful mosaic tile soaking tub.||The second ADA modification is in the wall kitchen access: instead of a full stove and oven with a vent and microwave above, the Accessible ADA kitchen has a countertop microwave, porcelain cooktop (no oven) and the kitchen sink allows access while seated in a wheelchair (eliminating a sink under cabinet). ||Beyond the master bathroom and kitchen layout, the Accessible ADA two bedroom Villa is like a regular two bedroom Villa: beautifully decorated (we had a Fantasia theme), beautiful ground floor public area. All the cast members were friendly. ||Lots of Disney "magic" throughout the property inside and outside. Pools were family friendly but loungers are crammed together. The fitness center was disappointing (many cardio machines, a rack of dumbbells and only one multi-exercise weight machine). Access to the theme parks involves quite a walk. ||Beware there is an expensive Transient Occupancy Tax (TOT) charged from the City of Anaheim that guests pay (even DVC members staying on points) based on $2.87 per point cost (2025): so we were charged an unexpected $583 in TOT upon checkout (in addition to the cost of our points).
