I would NOT recommend staying at Flagship Inn, especially if you are a woman visiting by yourself. Note this review was based on my one hour there, from when I felt so unsafe (physically and healthfully), I got a full refund and relocated to a different hotel in own. ||||I had car trouble when driving south en route to San Francisco. I looked up places to stay in Ashland; and Flagship Inn had decent reviews online, so I checked in the day of at the inn. Once I checked in and got into my room, I realized the TV and the wifi were not working -- the ladder was critical to me figuring out when and where to go fix my car. The lady at the reception was super nice, she stopped by the room asap to try and fix things, but she wasn't able to fix things, so she called the owner. ||||The owner had a condescending tone towards the super nice lady at the reception trying to help me, and said that he knows what's wrong and will fix it himself. Since he was walking towards my room, I asked if he could put on a mask; he said he doesn't have one. I then asked if I could offer him one as I want to be careful given that COVID cases are spiking again (I was masked up throughout the entire process). He responded angrily saying "IT'S OVER ALREADY." This is mid-May 2022, when cases are spiking; the pandemic is not over. I was very uncomfortable at that point, and asked again if he could mask up, and also asked if things can't be fixed, what's the cancellation policy. He then yelled at me angrily, without even seeing the TV issue nor wifi issue yet, "DON'T WASTE MY TIME IF YOUR DON'T WANT TO STAY HERE. I responded that "I checked in just now and I want to stay, but there seems to be a lot of issues and disconnects." Eventually he reprogrammed the TV remote and got the wifi to work, then talked to me like I was a liar (how would I know how to reprogram their TV remote control?) So I told him I don't appreciate his tone and his accusation that I was lying, and that this is probably the worst customer service I've experienced. He walked out aggressively (he was utterly unprofessional, aggressive, and condescending throughout my 20 min interaction with him). At that point I was very uncomfortable, wanting to lock the door from inside with a deadbolt or something and realizing that there's no way to do so from my room (see picture) -- anyone with a key can open the door from the outside. I went to the front desk again trying to figure out what I can do to feel safe. I got so uncomfortable and scared that I started crying, and a different person, and manager, came out to help. He said he will refund me and help me check out, which was a relief. In the refund receipt, however, he inserted in the remark section "CRAZY" and when I pointed out that was the remark with a chuckle, he tried to regenerate a receipt without that remark but couldn't, so he eventually blacked out the word "crazy" (though the word is still visible under light) and gave me the receipt. Quite frankly, at that point, I just want to get the heck out of Flagship Inn; the manager is entitled to his opinion -- and if feeling unsafe after 1) being yelled at for simply asking a member at a hotel to fix TV and wifi and to mask up (during a phase of the pandemic when cases are spiking), 2) then realizing I can't have the basic necessities (i.e.. internal lock to protect myself) is crazy, then fine. ||||This is just my experience, but I have to say I've stayed at numerous places in five continents, and this is by far the worst interaction I've had with anyone working for a hotel/inn/AirBnB/rental/hostel. The condensation towards women specifically is concerning. ||||Thank goodness my car still moves (albeit slowly with worrisome sounds) and I relocated to another place nearby -- this place had sanitation material all over (indicating that others in the town recognized that at this point in time, the pandemic is not over), deadbolt on the door, and working appliances. ||||I hope the comments are of help to...
Read moreThis is a great little inn located about 5mins (by car) away from downtown South Oregon. The rooms have just been renovated in 2016 and the furniture modernized. The bathroom however, could use some work as there was a loose tap at my hand sink, the shower was much narrowower and tighter that I would have liked. I'm not sure if it was a plumbing issue, but in the middle of my shower on my 3 night stay, this occurred nightly: the water suddenly turned scalding hot and I had nowhere to go in the narrow shower except to jump out, dripping wet. It took some time for the water to recover so after adjusting the temperature, it turned to cold as the original water temperature I set it to recovered. All in all, the guest rooms are clean and quite comfortable. The hospitality room(supposedly room 215) has continental breakfast served daily from 7am to 9am. But one thing I must mention is that in room 216, one of the staff members/owner lives there; every now and again while walking past that room to breakfast, marijuana smells appear to be coming from that room. To those guests not used to the smell can lose their appetite. Breakfast has an average selection, if you make it on time, you can find; yogurt, hard boiled eggs, make your own waffles, bread, bagels, muffins, a selection of cereals and some sausage patties and scrambled egg patties-as I have witnessed the staff cooking them in the microwave. I tried it and I can't complain, it's free and it's edible. I would say with everything that is offered here, the price and location its a good 0lace to stay. Will consider this place again if I am in the area again...
Read moreThe room was nice and clean, but the carpet was in need of extra cleaning . But it's Oregon, where it rains a lot, so I give it a pass. You can't keep carpets clean in conditions like that. On the other hand, they used indoor/outdoor carpet on the exterior walkways, and there were large holes which had obviously been there awhile. The carpet was rolled back around the edges and this presents a trip/fall hazard. The carpet should be removed and the concrete painted with a non-slip coating instead. Our stay here was quiet except for one person who arrived late and decided to hammer on something in his room and run in and out the door slamming it every time at 10 pm. There's always one who doesn't understand courtesy. Parking is a little tight if you have a big SUV or long bed truck. The spaces are barely wide enough for a normal car, let alone a big vehicle. It's away from the freeway, so no traffic noise. But you'll have to find it with your GPS or maps app. It has a small pool. And breakfast is served in the morning, but we didn't partake of it as we had to be on the road before they began serving. I would...
