This is going to be long: Our check-in experience was not very friendly, we checked in a little before 4pm and there was not an employee at the desk. I looked around for a number to call and noticed a sign that said they are currently unavailable because they were probably housekeeping, then an employee ran in with a spray bottle to check us in. She was very short with questions and was quiet, we could not understand what she was asking us and had to ask her to repeat herself a couple of times. She made sure we did not have animals with us, so I figured this was an animal-free motel; this was not the case as we shared a wall with a dog that barked at any sound the first night. She did not explain why they were charging us another $100 for a deposit at check-in. I knew this is customary as a deposit, but others may not. Would not hurt to explain you will get your deposit back if the room is in good shape. This all comes down to customer service, or lack thereof. A few days after checking out, we noticed some money was still withdrawn but not the full $100. My partner inquired with an email and they immediately replied that two towels were stained beyond repair and that they attached photos to the email. The towels in the photo appeared to have normal use for a 2 night stay and were taken prior to cleaning them. I had used one washcloth to remove makeup, and rinsed it thoroughly. With some proper bleaching and cleaning, this should have been back to normal. This concerns me greatly. I also am not sure how they were able to take time to inspect towels, and take pictures of the minor defects before they were even cleaned since they are sharing housekeeping duties along with front desk and seem to be busy. The parking lot has limited spaces infront of the rooms, about 10 spots. If you dont get those, you have to park behind the motel in a shared parking lot with a grocery store and strip mall where you can't see your car except out of the bathroom window. We also were not informed of this at check-in. The room was decorated nicely, simple. The bed was stiff and not comfortable in the least, and the pillows were not comfortable either. My partner simply slept without them for two nights. Our room had a big fridge to hold our treasures from our trip, which was nice. The window AC was noisy and inconsistent throughout the night, even when changing the settings. I did not want to open the front window for air because there are no sheer privacy curtains underneath the darkening curtains, no screen on the window and we were on the first floor near the street. The shower flooring and bathroom flooring were also peeling and in bad shape. When we went out for a few hours on a Friday, I removed the DND sign from the door and put it inside hoping we would receive turndown service. Working at a hotel previously, that was how I knew to provide service. When we returned, nothing had been touched, and my partner moved the sign to put the DND back on the door and noticed the flipside said "Service Please". We were not told to put this sign out or even look for this during our stay. This review may seem to nitpick, but for how much motels are charging per night with accommodations that are lacking, it is frustrating. I am unsure how other people had such great experiences, maybe we came at a bad time. Needless to say, I will not...
Read moreRUDE staff. A hail of harassing demands in a phone call began to rain down about six PM on the night of my stay when I decided to answer a call from this hotel. A sharp-toned woman demanded to know when I would be arriving.... After politely telling her that I did not have my evening planned out, she then demanded an email address and credit card number over the phone, something I could not readily provide while driving and using the hands-free communication function of my car...As I politely explained that I wasn't used to having to make appointments to be able to check into a hotel, she snapped and began to shout over the phone. I then firmly informed her that I wished to cancel my stay and requested a refund. Unsurprisingly, people who behave as the employees of this business do will often project their rudeness onto others, and accuse others of rudeness when the victim simply asks for respect. Of course, she then slammed down the phone and refused to refund my money when Expedia called. She is, sadly, a person who enjoys the fruits of her disrespect, pushiness, and self-centered rudeness. The approach of this business is to demand that guests serve the convenience of the employees. If this is combined with rudeness, well you have what I experienced at the Timbers INN and suites.|I then called Expedia, and was told by the agent that they had spoken to the same angry, rude employee I had (I made sure to confirm) and immediately recognized and totally empathized with my experience.|Today, a man from this business called and a similar conversation unfolded. What seemed to have begun in civil fashion devolved into him making false accusations, claiming it was "normal" for hotels to call and make demands for appointments, email addresses , and credit card information (all previously provided by the customer) by phone. He then threatened to attempt to say bad things about me to "my professional community¨ .... doubling down with an abusive threat. When he, too, began to shout over the phone, I calmly and politely asked him to stop shouting and calmly and politely asked him why he was calling. When the shouted threats simply continued, I (this time) hung up the call. The vague and strange threats he levied today over the phone seem to be par for the course for this business, sadly. You can see others describe his behavior in other reviews of this business.|I hope that my experience was an outlier, and I hope others do not experience the same. If you do, I also do suggest you post an honest account here. Should the business retaliate with dishonesty and/ or threats, or harassment, please do have the courage to report that here, too. Let's hope the business has the courage to be more kind, respectful, and (mostly) honest in the future.|While not as common as with other businesses, it is important to note the fact that I am not the only customer who has suffered from the rudeness of staff here (see other reviews), and the fact that the hotel seems to leave the desk unstaffed for long periods of the business day. Indeed, the shouting, threatening man who made the harassing phone call to me today admitted that this business tries to skimp on staffing. I would think twice before...
Read moreGreat space for a great price. 3 queen beds, dorm fridge, microwave, TV, 4 piece bathroom. Only complaints were about little things: 2/5 outlets (both servicing first bed) required room light to be on; the TV remote only worked on the cable box, not the TV itself, so couldn't mute or adjust volume from bed; & the shower situation was bizarre.
When checking in, I got in-depth instructions on how to turn the room heater on. Didn't end up needing it, but it was nice to be told about unique setups. However nothing was said about the shower.
The tubs do not have traditional stoppers to switch from faucet to showerhead: you have to pull down on the mouth of the faucet before the water is turned on for the water to be redirected. We tried everything we could think of, short of pulling the faucet out of the wall, but all while the water was running. (The correct steps were told us upon checkout, so we could not confirm.) There was nothing said, there were no instructions, and when you're naked, ready to take a shower after a long day, at 1am, you don't really want to try to call for assistance - especially if it requires staff coming to the room! (We also can not remember ever seeing a phone in the room.) Needless to say, we didn't get showers.
The response/explanation we were given the next morning when checking out was not apologetic. He claimed that the pipes were such that these are the only faucets that work (really???) and that "they used to have stickers on them with instructions, but people just take them off."
Regardless if the pipe thing is true, if the heater was unusual enough to mention during check-in, why weren't the faucets? If the instruction stickers weren't staying, why couldn't you post a sign? Or provide laminated instructions in the bathroom, or in the main room, with the coffee setup? I mean, if you can put a bow on the toilet, I don't see how a simple how-to list about the shower (and heater even) is too much to ask.
Still, a nice...
