Oak Hill Bed and Breakfast a gem in Ashland. The wife and I spent one night here in January and it was terrific. Brian and Anna were/are warm and gracious hosts and the 1910 farm house is such a pleasant place for a quiet and comfortable stay.
Upon arrival Brain met us, gave us our private entry passcode, showed us to our room (Lavender Room) and them gave a tour of the home and amenities. The house is a beautiful farm house originally built in 1905 and converted to a B&B in 1985 then remodeled to its current glory a few years ago… and it is terrific… not a TV in the place, but strong Wi-Fi… good or bad, you decide.
The bed in the Lavender room was definitely to my liking, not as hard as a Marriot or Hilton room bed, just right. Nice big en suite bathroom (every room has an en suite bathroom) and pleasant views. As we were the only guest this January weekend we go to check most all the other rooms. The Grizzly Peak room is the show stopper with a big king size bed below a bank of windows looking east at Grizzly Peak Mountain that was covered in snow this Friday afternoon.
The evening consisted of coffee, tea, port or sparkling water and a fine selection of books and games in front of the gas fireplace. Moring coffee via the Jura Superautomatic Espresso machine was great! But even better was the breakfast that Brian made… Homemade ciabatta bread rolls topped with avocado slices, fresh baby spinach, egg and feta cheese, with a delicious chicken sausage link. This was accompanied by a sublime parfait of honey flavored yogurt, granola and fresh strawberries, raspberries and blueberries. Oh and some more coffee, OJ and great morning conversation with our hosts.
Close proximity to Southern Oregon University campus (3-5 minutes), easy access to downtown Ashland and all it has to offer, plus not too far from I-5 makes this B&B a winner in my book. Veronica and I feel like we made some new friends and look forward to...

Home's decor had cozy and artistic flair, with numerous attractive wall prints & unique objets! Too, this home was gleaming with cleanliness...an important quality for my comfort. Both hosts are mindful of Covid protocols, and have taken steps to ensure the highest state of cleanliness, as well as carefully stocked sanitizer areas and extra masks.
Ooooooh, that grand espresso/cap/coffee & tea station was magnificent. Everything one might need for many hot beverages was on hand. The coffee is of a high quality. (I enjoy great coffee in my home; this was even more enjoyable than my own.) They have a plethora of pamphlets, maps and brochures of attractions in the near and far vicinity. I enjoyed early morning sessions of planning my days by a warm fire, sipping a fabulous Cafe Americano. They've included a thoroughly organized list of recommended eateries in town-- and there are numerous ones from which to choose!
Anna knew we had planned to pack a lunch to take to the mountain. She not only recommended a fabulous sandwich place nearby, but offered cooler & cold packs. (If you need an umbrella or walking stick, they can help. If you need a wool throw to keep cozy on the porch swings during evening wine or morning coffee, there are several to choose from.)
Hosts Brian & Anna are delightful conversationalists and marvelous chefs! You'll want to invite them to sit at the breakfast table for rousing conversation! And after your stay, you will dash home and attempt to duplicate their sumptuous offerings fruit dishes, scones and innovative breakfast cuisine items, of which, I won't divulge the names...you'll have to find out for...
Read moreWhat a WONDERFUL time we had at Oak Hill B&B. There aren’t enough good things to say. For starters, Anna is an incredible hostess meeting us promptly at check in with our key ready and a full tour of the inn. She prepared homemade birthday cupcakes as the afternoon treat to help celebrate my sister’s special day. She also helped me place flowers and champagne in my room before we arrived.
The inn is beautiful and well appointed with a variety of books, games, and cozy seating areas to spend your time chatting with your people or the other guests.
The back deck is huge and offers plenty of seating to play games and have wine on a warm evening. We stayed in the Grizzly Peak room, with a stunning view of the surrounding mountain range.
The inn and our room were spotless. The bed was huge and cozy with the softest sheets you’ve ever felt. We had a fireplace and plush robes, chocolates, wine glasses, and bath products.
Each morning we awoke to the smell of fresh brewing coffee, homemade baked goods or breakfast offerings and couldn’t wait to head downstairs to enjoy. Anna’s cooking is marvelous, as is the service. She and Brian made sure we had everything we needed, and had our place settings waiting for us before we arrived in the dining room.
Sadly, we visited Ashland during peak wildfire season and covid times. Because of this, the Shakespeare festival was canceled and the city was pretty empty. But we managed to have a wonderful time at the inn drinking local wine, playing games, and eating fantastic food!
The two breakfast we enjoyed at the inn were the highlight meals of our trip.
I cannot recommend this inn highly enough. I look forward to returning with my husband one day, hopefully in the fall and after the pandemic.
Thank you Oak Hill for such a sensational weekend. You truly...
