I am outraged! I was staying here with a dear friend of mine on her birthday while she was facing some serious hardship. I came back to the hotel in the morning right before 9a.m. I had asked if they were wrapping up breakfast? The lady said Yes and here I’m thinking I could just get a few things quick and be out of the way. Instead a man who I’m guessing runs this place comes up to me and says’you can not get breakfast unless you have room. (With accent. He’s Indian I’m guessing.) where is your room? I told him I’m staying with my friend and pointed up towards where the room is that I was staying in. He continues to say ‘you need leave’ and basically pushes me to the door. I said here look I’ll call her and have her come down right now. He says ‘no u get your own room if you don’t have your own room you can not get a breakfast.’ And literally points out the doors that I had just came back in from. To save myself more embarrassment, keep from causing more hardship to my friend, and really wanting to give these new owners (I’ve stayed here before only the place was under different management/ownership) a whole complete lesson on their behavior; I just said ‘you know what? Whatever.’ My lady friend packed our things (I didn’t have much at all just a backpack of clothes) while I went and bought her flowers and chocolates and a birthday card at the nearby Walmart and when I got back she checked us out and we were out of that gangsters trash dump. It’s called AnericInn and it’s not even ran by Americans… let that be your signal. Meanwhile the DoubleTree is an amazing establishment! Or If you’re low on funding I’ve even stayed at the Cobblestone. Theyre very genuine and courteous I always like to tip the breakfast staff wherever I go. Do Not Go Here!! AmericBin! As in trash bin. The owner guy even had a big gold chain around his neck like all of them rooms that you’re squeezing out of grieving people Makes you feel like 50 Cent huh? Like who does that to their customers!!!! It was so disrespectful I didn’t even want to show him we had a room. Just wanted to be checked out immediately. Far before 11a.m. Did not even get to go on a quick swim...
Read moreOverall gets a 5 star review for hotels of this type. Very clean inside and out including hallways, lobby and kitchen area. We didn't use hot tub so can't speak to that. Well lighted inside and out and plenty of parking. Looks to be rather safe neighborhood too.
Room itself was exceptionally clean with one minor note. We had a pet room as we were traveling with a pet and there was just a very slight pet odor (not at all objectionable or overpowering) as the room still had carpeting so not a surprise. Hopefully at some point they will change out the carpet to wood type floor as others are doing for pet rooms. But that is the only constructive criticism I have.
Breakfast was the standard breakfast fare but there was plenty of it, good selection and hot. Coffee 24/7 was good coffee too.
Some other commenters noted owner and family live on site. Which most of the time I have found to be a good thing as they take pride in their operation and typically shows in how clean the property is and kept. That certainly was the case here. Staff was very friendly and outgoing. One other note which was a nice touch was room door had an alarm if you didn't close it all the way/slightly ajar. Would most definitely stay here again if/when traveling...
Read moreAn early spring Minnesota blizzard caused my husband and myself to need to spend the night in Austin. We were sooooo impressed with this AmericInn in Austin. It has received a full remodel, including a stunning color combination and new carpet, equally as beautiful in its design and match to their colors. (Really, visually so attractive.) And decorated so tastefully, as well. In addition to its stately wood beams/trim and rock finish. Really a welcoming atmosphere. The representatives at the front desk were very attentive and personable. They, too, made us feel welcome and grateful that we weren't on the road. The room was much more spacious than we would have expected, as well as meticulously clean, stocked with toiletry necessities, extra blanket and anything that would help our stay to be even more comfortable. The next morning we did not stop for breakfast. Which was too bad, because what we saw was a wonderful spread of fresh fruit, yogurts, donuts/pastries and whatever they were cooking smelled divine! Next time we stay at this AmericInn, and we will, we are definately taking advantage of their complimentary breakfast. We were very impressed with this AmericInn and we are confident that you will be, too. Enjoy your...
