This is our new Go-To-Place ! We stayed in the Lysle Room. Had everything we needed and a beautiful view as well! Check in was a breeze and Jim was very welcoming ,friendly, and helpful. The room was clean and the shower was hot. Lots of storage room with plenty of drawers and closet space. Great location half a block from the beach and the main street in Avalon. This is not a party place which was a good thing for us! It has a small courtyard and a table to sit outside if you would like. The price was right for our budget. We did bring our own towels as well which lowers the cost by $10.00 per night. (There is a water conservation movement on the island so try to respect that with your usage). There is a small TV, a small refrigerator, a floor fan, and a heater in the room.||Part of me wants to keep this place a secret...the other part of me says they deserve to get a good review! My husband is a diver so we love Catalina and having found Buena Vista Hotel, we can now afford to go to the island...
Read moreFirst I should say that the host is very friendly and accommodating. But, this place should be considered a last ditch effort if you need a place to stay on the island. Walls/ ceiling show signs of water leakage which is a good indication of mold. About half of Americans are sensitive to mold, and having your clothes/ belongings exposed can easily bring it to your own residence. Carpet doesn’t help with this, as well as many other nasties typically in carpets considering there is dust/ dirt and hair all over the room as well. Sticker on the door says to conserve water yet the toilet looks like it sucks two gallons down with every flush. No A/C and the room is hard to breath in and there are little cats outside who seem nice but one is aggressive and the other appears to have a tumor and nobody wants to help the poor thing. IMO this building should be taken apart and reconstructed...
Read moreIt's a safe place to keep your stuff at and come back to after you've been out all day. Don't expect it to look like a 5-star hotel. The rooms give you the bare minimum of what you need. I'd describe it as one step up from camping. It's an older building and it's obvious, inside and out. The rooms aren't upgraded, things could use a nice coat of paint and theres water damage in the bathroom. But it's the cheapest rate aside from sleeping at the camp grounds. The hotel manager was extrememly nice, knew the town, was able to provide some recommendations, and up front about the building while I was booking so nothing was a surprise. If you're looking to put your money towards other activities and know you'll barely be in the room, this is perfect. If you're looking for a room to relax in throughout the day, away from the crowd, this probably wouldn't be my...
