We reserved 6 pull-thru sites one week before arrival with advance notice that we would be late arrivals. Unfortunately, we didn't realize exactly how late we would be since we encountered one mechanical difficulty after another and 4 tire issues between 6 RV's. The owner/manager informed me when I reserved and offered my CC that they only accepted cash or checks....okay, fine...no problem although odd? It was very apparent to us that our late arrival was quite an inconvenience to them when my daughter said hi and "how are you" (we are fairly friendly Texans) people only to receive a brusque "tired".....nothing more. They have zero organization and had given away the pull-thru sites we reserved and had to escort us to identify the mishmash of sites and illuminate them with flash lights....no numbesr, letters, signage, etc. to assist nor any normal late arrival system employed by many campgrounds we are familiar with. No worries, we were tired and ready to to bed. We all awoke the next morning and looked around and thought, wow, obviously a place where many people choose to live with poorly kept campers, unmown areas in disrepair, fences down, just not what we are accustomed to camping in and certainly not consistent with what we envisioned by viewing the lovely picture of the entrance and reading the other few reviews. I should have known better than to think that the entire campground was as lovely as the photograph.....geez! Overall, we could have even overlooked this until my husband was returning from PAYING for our site to remind all of our family and friends to stop and pay on the way out and the owner stopped my son-in-law to scream at him and their friends....accusing them of trying to escape without paying.....the poorest, rudest and most disrespectful customer service we have EVER encountered AT ANY CAMPGROUND. AVOID AT ALL COST. STAY IN A WALMART PARKING LOT.....YOU WILL BE MUCH HAPPIER....Happy Camping...
Read moreGeneral Impression: This was a small campground with 53 sites. It was primarily a long-term stay campground that was mostly a gravel parking lot located within walking distance to Aztec National Monument Park. Campground: Some sites have a bit of grass in between and there are a few shade trees scattered throughout the campground. But it is mostly gravel throughout. Campsite # 33 Our campsite was a gravel pull through just long enough for our rig. We had to disconnect. The gravel was a little soft and it needed some leveling as well. We had full hookups with 50 & 30 #thifty. These sites were no frills with no picnic table, grill, or fire ring. No Propane refill or dump station. Wifi: While the campground does offer free Wifi, we had trouble even getting a speed test out of it. Verizon good enough for emails and searching. Starlink is fast enough for streaming. Noise Level: This campground was mostly quiet with little road noise. Amenities: No bathrooms, showers, laundry, pool, or playground. They had one dumpster located at the entrance.
Dog friendly: There was no off-leash area but they did have a grass area to walk your dog at the front of the park with a pickup station that was fully stocked. Camp store: No. There is a Dollar General about half mile away and a Walmart was located about 8 miles away.
Camp staff interactions: The staff was friendly and helpful.
Additional info: This campground does have goats head burrs, so make sure to stay in the gravel or grass at the front of the park. The dirt areas have stickers.
Cost $50.75 / night – we were told cash only Value: That is on the high end of what we like to spend and this was a no frills campground. It had full hookups and it was close to the ruins, but really that’s it. It did the job but didn’t have that...
Read moreThis was a very nice two-day stopover. We had an rv park picked out but, after arriving at the Aztec Ruin site, we decided it was too far to backtrack to that rv park so I called and found out that this park, that was only a half-mile from the Aztec Ruins, had a spot for us. The lady on the phone, the manager (owner?) was so very friendly. We booked and went to the Ruins and came over later to check in which was effortless. We had a good pull-through spot with lots of room on either side. The park is mostly people that live there…just like most that we’re encountering. There was a friendly couple across that came here for his job then decided to stay and another older lady that was next to them that lost her husband. Nice, nice folks….we ended up one evening chatting, exchanging stories. The only negative point was the trailer park behind us….pretty ratty. Overall,...
