This is a covid19 review. The dealership had only been reopened a couple of days. I drove 400 miles to purchase this vehicle. It stickered at about 78k before tax and doc fees. The place was clean and staff was friendly. They had a decent covid19 protocol in place.
THE GOOD: My purchase contract was straightforward and easy to understand. There were no high pressure tactics to get me to buy a lot of extended warranties. There were not a lot of additional figures that can often times be misleading and deceptive in my sales contract. They gave me a decent trade in allowance but I wish I had tried to negotiate it upwards a couple of K. Other than topping off the DEF fluid level the make ready guys did a really bang up job.
THE NOT SO GOOD, NOT SO BAD: The salesperson could have been more knowledgeable about the truck she was selling. She had to go get answers to some of my questions from another employee. I was still signing secondary documents 3 days later. I had to make some whole dollar corrections on the documents before sending them back. They did not spend any time with me going over setting up my new vehicle with me. In their defense I will say that I was running short on time as I wanted to get back home that day. I have purchased 7 new Silverados since 2012 from 2 prior dealerships. They all spent a good 45 minutes going over setting up my new vehicle. As this was my first diesel vehicle. I was concerned when I got a couple hundred miles down the road only to discover that my DEF level was 5/8 full. This was an easy fix once I got home but in a new near 80k vehicle there shouldn't have been a concerns 4 hours off the lot. Again, this is my first diesel truck and the salesperson didn't cover any of the critical things to be aware when owning a diesel. When I got home I discovered that I had no paper temp tag affixed to my truck. When I informed the dealership they promptly emailed me a new temp tag with no questions asked.
OVERALL: A good place to buy a new truck. I will probably return for my next new truck provided the numbers look good and I can't find what I want closer to home. I will say that I have no problem driving 400 mile to purchase a new truck from Hicountrychevrolet before I ever buy from my local Chevrolet dealership. The salesperson person was receptive to all my concerns and promptly enacted a fix...
Read moreHi Country in Aztec will make you feel like they are doing you a great service to help you out of a bad situation. I wish I would have trusted my gut and left in my damaged vehicle instead of trading it in for a horrible deal. I felt I had no other option due to the safety issues presented with my vehicle. I am now in a truck that I cannot drive in the winter (which hinders my getting to work and my kids to school) and my payments are obscene! I was looking for a used 4 wheel drive with room for my kids and my tools - they turned around and told me I did not have good enough credit to buy a used vehicle, the bank needed me to have a brand new vehicle - I basically had no choice in the matter! They had already chosen me a truck! I told them I could not take a 2 wheel drive and the truck was too small, I also told them the payments would be too much for us to handle long term. The salesman had the manager come out to talk to me. They BOTH ensured me that I could trade it in for a 4 wheel drive (that I could afford) 6 months later. Just 6 months to establish my "car credit" and be in the vehicle I needed. I later found out that they completely took advantage of me not knowing anything about buying cars from a dealership and also took advantage of me being in a vulnerable situation. They LIED to me! I recently found out that it takes at least a year to get your credit back on track from the initial drop that occurs from the purchase of the new vehicle! No one wants to touch this truck - even though its a 2012 in excellent condition and has under 12,000 miles on it! One dealer told me I would have to fork over at least 4 grand just to trade it in for a used vehicle!!! Or he said I could hand it over to the bank and ruin my credit for quite a while!!! I am beyond disgusted with this dealership! I spoke with someone who used to work there and they said they quit working there because they are scam artists who care nothing about the customer and all about making their sale! Well IT ALL MAKES SENSE NOW!!! Thanks for the sore rear end, empty pocket book, extra stress, and the LESSON LEARNED -Hi Country Chevrolet I hope you get whats...
Read moreThe experience has been stressful for my father. My dad is a military Veteran, who has suffered from 4 stokes, that has caused very slight memory and speech issues. He has just loss a son (who is also a military Veteran) to Covid Christmas Eve 2021. Still grieving the loss of a child. Barely 2 months ago. The used car that Hi-Country Chevrolet sold him had less than 6 months ago, breaks down. Rear axel issues due to a spare tire being placed on the car when the original tire blew out on the interstate driving home after burying his son. The spare tire was sold with the car at the time of purchase. When my father took the car in to get serviced and to question the loud thumping sound in the rear axel. They told him that they needed to keep the car for 3 days to take it apart and check what the issue was. 3 days turned into 3 weeks. They called my dad today to say that although, he has purchased the "extended warranty" on top of the selling price of the car, he now has to pay an additional $1078.00. My dad called me in distress and worried, because Disable Veteran's do not make more money even if they wanted to. After my brother's funeral, my dad has struggled. I called Hi-Country Chevrolet and asked what the deal was. I spoke with Tanya in the service department, she told me that, the car's rear axel gave out due to a smaller tire being placed on the car (she was talking about the spare tire) I simply replied, a spare tire is used for that purpose exactly, the spare was sold with the car, the original tire blew out. And now the audacity to charge my father $1078. 00. She said she didn't have much information because she does not work in services, but she will have the manager of the Service Dept call me, name: Sam Zumi. As I sit here writing this review, I decide to call friends who work for dealerships in other states. We all agreed it was unfair and sometimes, Car Dealerships take advantage of elderly people like my father. They advise me to wait to speak with the manger or the general manager. I would not have taken the time to write this review if I didn't think my father was being...
