Our experience at this Kimpton Monaco location was unfortunate and resulted in an early check-out.
To start things off, check-ins were delayed. We showed up around 4 PM and were given comp drink tickets for the hotel bar while we waited. When we came back, the front desk was ready. They handed us our keys and were told that our bags were already brought up to the room. We made it up to find nothing ever made it. We then returned downstairs and had to sort through the bag hold room for our belongings. Made it back up to the room after finding them.
First impression of the room: Did we travel to the correct four-star hotel? Wallpaper peeling off the walls in multiple areas, ripped and faded carpet, hair in the trash can, and bed partially unmade. We spent about half an hour in the room before going to the nightly entertainment.
We returned to find even more issues with the room. Found clumps of hair throughout (one stuck to my wife's foot as she was looking through the mini-bar), clock was not set correctly, hole in the lampshade, and bugs. This is a clear indication that these rooms are not being turned over correctly and without any real care.
My wife and I decided this was enough and went down to the front desk to see what they could do (mind you, this was around 11:30 PM). The woman who we spoke to said there was nothing they could do, documented the complaint (so we thought), and gave us the office manager's card to contact in the morning. We decided to check-out at around midnight instead of staying in that filthy room. The staff did not seem to care in the slightest and without even an apology.
We stood outside of the building for around 20 minutes after receiving confirmation that our car was being picked up by the valet. One of the gentlemen working stated his co-worker was picking it up. 10 minutes later we found that wasn't the case. He had to go and run over to get it himself. This resulted in a 35 minute wait after all of this concurred. At that point we just wanted to get out of Baltimore.
I booked this room 3rd party with points and received a refund the next day. When our rep contacted the hotel there was no documentation of the complaint at all like it never happened. He also noted the lack of customer service even for him! One of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had and will not be staying at any more Kimpton properties. IHG will be receiving a...
Read moreWhen I booked the hotel, I selected the extra room with twin bed. I thought it would be a fun experience for us to stay and enjoy the Orioles game and inner harbor.
The experience at the hotel has been lackluster and not anything I expected. When we pulled up to the hotel on Friday, June 14, there was a fire truck out front blocking valet. While the valet was nice, he did not provide additional.
Service or direction to where the lobby/registration was. We found the lobby (one level up) and had to bring our own bags upstairs with us.
I feel like the full check in experience was not provided. Not only was there a letter advising of daily fire alarm testing and maintenance (which I was not informed of before our stay because had I known, I would not have booked this hotel for us and our pet).
Since I was checking in with my family and dog, I expected the front desk to provide: overview of the Wag amenities outlined on the website -local areas to take our pet for bathroom breaks -plus the review of hotel room, cost and amenities was not reviewed -he never asked about valet or any additional services listed on the reservation or website When we got to the 11th floor, there were carpet dryers blowing hallway carpet dry on an opposite hallway, a microwave (see photo) at the elevator foyer and fire alarm lights flashing (as the notification advised). We got to our room and noticed the following issues: -missing tv remote -broken drawer -issue with the safe (unable to reset or lock. See photo) -loose toilet paper holder -broken alarm clock with two usb ports that do not charge devices as the power not working correctly so no usb options in the entire room -two carpet stains (see photos)
These may be trivial but 3 hours after we arrived, someone knocked on our door and said we were in the wrong room. But they gave us the room. Btw the room they wanted us to was in the hallway with carpet dryers. Seemed like a lot of confusion.
This interaction has made my experience uncomfortable and worrisome. I’m traveling with a canine and three kids! I don’t need to worry about someone coming into my room or asking me to move mid-stay.
I am upset that I booked this hotel thinking it @would be a unique experience. It is not worth the same price that I would have paid to Marriott or Hilton for dog friendly rooms in same proximity. The customer service is a poor representation of Kimpton....

Water was very hot. 2 tvs in room, ideal for kids. Hotel lobby is old fashioned but clean, would have been elegant 50 years ago.frer coffee but kid size cups. Valet attendants were very nice and helpful. Shout-out to Jacob.
Disliked · This is a very long list and negatives far outweigh any positives. Executive summary sentence: this is a historic, outdated elegant hotel cheaply covered in outdated modern kempton attire. The phrase, "you get what you pay for" didn't apply here. For a "5 star hotel" you get a 3 star hotel with 5 star makeup on it. Check-in was annoying. Traveled with 1 small kid and a infant. Check in was at 4. Arrived at 3:15 and room wasn't ready. During the pandemic its concerning a room isn't clean yet before guest arrive. The room was rushed cleaned and it showed. Bed wasn't nicely made. White stain on couch. Hoping it wasn't a body fluid stain. The handle on the desk cosmetic drawer fell off. Windows had water damage and just looked ugly. Room only had 2 towels in it. The pillows on the comfy bed were like deflated air bags. Room entertainment: o lyrics thing free is basic cable. No free on demand. Romm entertainment is below par. I recommend bringing a fire stick. They have a lot of optional stuff you can pay for. Forbe ample you can wat h on demand PBS for $20. Isnt PBS suppose to be free? All movies on demand were $10+. You need 3 of their pillows combined to make 1 standard pillow. The pull out couch bed was HORRIBLE. Stiff, hard, and it came with a very thin blanket just like the blankets you get at Army basic training. Oh ya and no pillows for the pull out. Call the service desk for more towels and extra pillows and blanket for the pull out. Got the towels but that was it. Room was quiet except for the expected loud outside noise of downtown Baltimore. Another shout out for Baltimore 1st responders: they work all night around here sounded like. Parking was valet only at $44 a night. Pricey but on par for the area. Some of the valet tenants didn't care to open the door for guest. With the exception of Jacob and the African heavier set guy. Those 2 were great. Now the restaurant: the food sucked and expensive. Drinks expensive and delivery to...
