Edit: Response to Owner Thanks for the reply. Yes, I know $22 bottomless with 3 drinks makes $7 mimosas. I also know regular mimosas are $7. Ive been here before but its been a while.
Again, I was there 30 min before 3pm and had asked the hostess before coming if I could still order brunch. However, straight up the waitress would not tell me anything about brunch. Nor did she even say I could scan a code when I asked about the menu. Was there brunch foods I could've ordered too but was not informed? Finally after trying to wrestle any info out, she then said she needed permission. Do you get how that's two different messaging and that can be confusing/ frustrating?
I get your reasoning about responsibly serving but it's a bit hard to accept that when I've seen numerous blackout drunk folks at your bar screaming on the weekends and during football or baseball games.
I honestly feel like she was being directed to hide the brunch menu from me and now you're trying to gaslight me about the interaction. Dude - this is weird. Food was good and got my buzz but the ambiance was kinda ruined by the initial interaction.
Waitress was weirdly resistant to tell me what was brunch drinks and only mentioned bottomless mimosas when I persisted. I know there’s more but I just wanted mimosas anyways. Don’t think they have brunch menus anymore. She kinda questioned my order and I don’t really get why. She then said since It was 30 min before 3 she had to ask permission on my brunch mimosa order. However I had asked the hostess before coming in if I could still order brunch drinks specifically and she said yes.
Im still confused as to why she was giving me a hard time. It was a weekday, restaurant was not busy and I was still within the window. I could understand the pushback if it was 10 min before 3, but I was 30 min within time. :/ The whole point of going here was the drinks. I saw her talk to some dude at the bar so I guess permission was granted.
Managed to get 3 drinks in before 3pm . I was charged $22 for mimosas, making each drink $7.
Wondering if servers are being directed to do this by management. If you guys are going to get upset for people ordering brunch specials 30 min before 3, make it a hassle and have servers ask for permission then just end brunch earlier. Just tell me no. Make messaging clear to all your staff about when brunch ends. Don’t be weird!...
Read moreRecently I visited Barcocina (1629 Thames Street, Fells Point), a Mexican-inspired restaurant with a unique food sharing concept.
On this particular Sunday, my best friend and I decided to sit outside and enjoy the weather. Barcocina is in a prime location in Fells Point. It's on the water with views of the harbor, tourists and all the weekend aquatic activities. Looking over the menu I noticed the different options for the Mexican-inspired items. There were six guacamole options, three salsa options and eight taco options. Some were very unique because I would never think to mix the ingredients. There was an "Eggs and Bacon" guacamole, and a "Reuben" taco that caught my eye, but I had a taste for the traditional American breakfast items. The traditional breakfast items also had a Mexican-inspired flair We ordered the Breakfast Quesadillas, Huevos Rancheros, Butternut Squash Enchiladas and the Maple Pancake Sliders.
The breakfast quesadillas were delicious. They were made with smoked cheddar eggs and crumbled pepper bacon and topped with sweet corn salsa and a sour cream drizzle. The huevos rancheros was good, my best friend liked them but my only suggestion would be to add more of the citrus sour cream. My favorite were the Maple Sausage Pancake Sliders, it was prepared like a McDonald's McGriddle but better. The Butternut Squash Enchilada was flavorful with fresh ingredients. We also ordered Jalapeno Skillet Cornbread and the Skillet Potatoes.

The cornbread was excellent!!! That was the first time I'd tasted spicy cornbread. I'm used to my cornbread being savory and sweet, but I liked the spicy kick. We devoured that skillet and wished it was a little larger because we both...
Read moreI have no issue continuing the conversation, however I believe that the conversation is futile if you are simply listening to be heard rather than to comprehend.
The crux of my complaint did not regard the time frame that your establishment set as the start and end time of the brunch for our party (though it was not explicitly stated). The essential and poignant point that was made to you throughout the course of our exchange was the lack of tact in your servers’ communication. What I relayed to you verbatim was as follows when you attempted to justify the tactless demeanor of Katie: “there is a what and how when speaking to paying patrons of your establishment. I understand the timely fashion and sense of urgency, however her body language and tone are off putting.” In response to the aforementioned statement, you justified her off- putting body language with the following sentiments: “our kitchen was closed. What would you like us to do?” Moreover, the inappropriate and egregious remarks in your current response are a prime example of perhaps why your employees feel comfortable serving patrons with tactless demeanors.
On a basic human level, the HOW we speak to people matters substantially more than the WHAT we are relaying to them. It’s quite unfortunate that the initial grievance was not only disregarded, but misunderstood. To be clear, how you reprimand your employees is of your own volition, however when an issue is brought to your attention as the manager, the bare minimum is addressing the matter.
No further conversation is required from this point forward and you are 100% correct. My party will no longer eat at your deplorable establishment. Happy...
