One of my favorite restaurants to date. Very hard to get a reservation so plan ahead. I decided to spend my birthday here again and this restaurant never disappoints when it comes to food.
The only let down was that my party had to be split up between two tables of 4 due to covid restrictions in a small building. That was not a problem at all! Sadly, Instead of just putting us at least near each other, they put my table on one floor and the other downstairs. The table of 4 next to me was empty for a while until it got filled with a couple who brought their baby which was really unfortunate.
I wish they would have been able to coordinate and switch tables around to accommodate a birthday.
Nonetheless, after ordering a stella and two orange crushes, we started the experience with picking some oysters from the raw bar. Order a nice variety to see the difference between oysters from New England and oysters from Chesapeake. The crab claws were delicious!
My friends that sat at the table downstairs ordered the grandiose shellfish tower! I missed out on it and wished I was around to enjoy that. It looked extraordinary and a Big Bang for your buck if you’re interested in primarily ordering shellfish.
The entrees were on a whole other level. I have been ordering their lobster roll for years now and it has been very difficult to try anything else on the menu because it’s just that good! This is not your typical cold Mayo and celery mix lobster roll. The bun alone is always perfectly toasted on each side. Served with giant pieces of lobster tail/claw/knuckles. You get a side of warm smooth butter to drizzle over top and it’s chefs kiss. The seasoned beach fries with the homemade ketchup that is like no other is so addicting. You will always want another side of ketchup, it’s guaranteed.
The Thames street burger was well cooked, the perfect medium rare.
The ribeye was absolutely mouth watering and huge!! Although it did not need to be smothered in so many onions. Let alone laid over two giant pieces of what ended up being, soggy zucchini. Plating should be reconsidered because that ribeye was the star of the show! Everyone could not stop trying to get another little bite.
The lobster risotto came in a very large portion. You definitely get your money's worth, but I think the giant and very hot/heavy pan it comes out in was too bulky. Otherwise very delicious!
The VERY minor let down will not stop me from giving this restaurant 5 stars. Their food consistency is insane. I have yet to be disappointed by the food once and highly recommend anyone visiting Fells Point to dine at...

Read moreA few years ago, my children gave me a birthday gift card for what was presumably a dinner for two at Thames Street Oyster House, knowing my deep love for seafood. However, for various reasons, I haven’t used it until now. Instead of dinner, I invited my good friend TC to join me for a leisurely lunch.
Located along the waterfront of Fells Point, a lively tourist hub filled with small galleries, boutique shops, pubs, and taverns, Thames Street Oyster House sits along Baltimore’s historic cobblestone streets - charming yet often uneven and broken, a reminder of the city's rich past.
Stepping inside, the restaurant had an unassuming, classic Maryland pub atmosphere. Nothing particularly stood out in terms of decor, but as we were the first to arrive for lunch, we secured a coveted window seat on the second floor overlooking the Patapsco River—a perfect vantage point for a relaxed afternoon meal.
We started with two beautifully presented appetizers: Grilled Rock Octopus and Point Judith Calamari. Paired with a glass of local pilsner, aptly named Positive Mental Attitude, it was an excellent way to set the tone for the meal. And, true to its name, the beer certainly enhanced our spirits.
Given that we were dining at a renowned oyster house, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to sample a variety of fresh oysters sourced from Maryland, Virginia, and New Jersey. Each had its own unique flavor profile, making the experience all the more enjoyable.
Embracing the Maryland tradition, I opted for Maryland Crab Soup, while my friend, ever the scientist seeking contrast, chose Rhode Island Clam Chowder - a fun comparison of two regional classics.
The highlight of the meal, however, was my all-time favorite dish: Bouillabaisse. Served in a traditional fashion, the seafood was meticulously arranged, crowned with two perfectly grilled slices of bread, golden-brown and crisp. It was a visual and culinary delight.
In short, it was an excellent lunch - delicious food, a beautiful harbor view, perfect weather, and even better with a great friend. However, a friendly word of caution to future visitors: while my original gift card was meant for a dinner for two, inflation had its way. I had to bring along two Benjamins to settle the tab - something to keep in mind if you plan to dine here. But for an experience this memorable, it was...
