This hotel is very conveniently located, just off the 90. Really good size parking lot with parking on three different sides, no problem parking a truck or trailer here. The staff was great, courteous and professional. The hotel has a really large reception area with lots of seating for the restaurant and the bar. I appreciate the way that the Hilton Garden Inn leaves water bottles in your room, that are free if you’re a rewards member, versus giving them to you at the counter and having to take them with you. They also give you a $10 credit off the breakfast or an option for extra points, I’m not sure if this is a rewards member benefit or available to everybody. There’s a really nice fitness center next to the pool, It’s not large, but it has a couple treadmills and a bike, and a full rack of dumbbells. I didn’t use the hotel restaurant, but instead walked across the street to a brewery bar called the Magic Monk, which was great, I would definitely recommend it and eat there again. There’s also a large IMAX movie theater next to the Magic Monk. My only complaint about the hotel is they don’t use the soft close doors, so early in the morning you hear a few doors slam shut. It didn’t sound like they were right next to me but somewhere else on the floor, and it’s loud enough to wake you up for sure. Aside from the door noise, I like this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

We visited Illinois for a wedding, and stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. The room was nice, sheets were clean, but there was hair in the shower upon arrival; it wouldn't have been hard for the hotel staff getting the room ready to turn the water on and have the hair go down the drain (obviously we ended up doing this ourselves, but it wasn't a great moment for first impressions). Also, We requested room service after our first night, but they didn't change out the sheets, make the beds, or replenish the towels in the bathroom. However, they did do everything else (took out the trash, provided additional K-cups, etc.), so that's redeeming. Additionally, we thought we had breakfast included in the price of the room; we ate breakfast the morning after the first night, and everything was fine. But when we had breakfast on the second morning, we were handed a $16 bill. We didn't make a scene about it, but we could have sworn that breakfast was baked into the price of the room. Finally, the phone in the room wasn't operating, it wasn't capable of calling the Front Desk (if people at the hotel see this, we stayed in room 718).

Ultimately, it turned out OK. However, we were traveling for a competition and were informed via one of the families that arrived before us that the pool was closed. We were never informed of this prior to booking the room. Those families with small children can obviously understand how much of an issue this caused. Also, the hallway to the fitness room was closed off due to pool construction. The room had a non functional phone, so there was no way to get ahold of the front desk. Also was awakened the first morning to the fire alarm going off and the sounds of fire trucks in the distance coming to help. Front desk help was friendly, and rooms were decent, but the first 24 hours left a bad overall feeling about the stay.

Claims of renovation are greatly exaggerated. They painted and put up new wallpaper. The hotel itself is the same carpbox it's been for twenty years. The customer service is just as bad as it's always been and there's zero value to staying here. Reservation for 3 days but when I checked in they didn't have the room I'd reserved because they decided, without calling to ask or waiting a reasonable amount of time, that I wasn't going to show so they gave it to someone else. Desk clerk acknowledged I had a reservation but said couldn't put me into the room I'd reserved and took more than 30 minutes to get a different room "just for one night". Of course I want to move rooms after one night because the hotel is incompetent; great! The room I was shoehorned into was decidedly not an upgrade or anything. The toilet was broken and ran all night and the housekeeping apparently decided the room didn't need soap so there was no way to wash your hands after using the broken toilet; great! The customer service in the morning was apathetic to fixing the problem and told me they could get me into the right room after 3:00 pm. Why would they have any urgency to correct their mistakes from the day before. They just don't care. The "renovated" hotel includes the same sinks and vanities as before so they're in poor condition. No one thought to change the hardware on the doors to match so handles are stainless steel but the hinges are mismatched polished brass. The bathtub is from 30 years ago and the tile on the wall matches. Despite being terrible at everything they also want to charge $15 for breakfast you'd get free at any other hotel. Save your money and go literally...

Worst Hilton stay ever; the hotel seems unmanaged.

A four night stay, the room was disheveled when we opened the door. The bedspread was just tossed on the middle of the bed, the pillow for the chair was tossed in the corner, and the table and console tops were so dusty I could write "dirty" in it. It was late, and we were tired from the road, so we let it go.

The next day, we returned to find the room had not been serviced at all. We went to the front desk to complain, and all they said was we should have been told the room would only be serviced every other day, but they usually forget to tell guests. They promised us the room would be serviced the next day, and that they would pass a message how unacceptably dirty the room was on arrival.

The next day, we returned to find that the room again wasn't serviced. We again complained to the front desk, who then said they couldn't understand why it happened again, offered us towels, and went back to playing on their phone.

I bet you see where this is going. The next day, it was again not serviced. The supposed head of housekeeping was there. She only offered towels, and said she doesn't do rooms, then said we must have had a "do not disturb " sign on the door. That would have been a little hard, since the room didn't have one. Or laundry bags. We asked her to look at how dusty the room was, she turned and just walked away.

Zero service, zero management, zero accountability. Calling Hilton, all they could do is offer was free points.

If this is as well as Hilton can do these days, why would I want to have points towards a stay at another of their properties?

If you stay here,...

Worst possible Hilton Garden I have ever been to! Let’s start with the check in experience at the lobby where the older gentleman was not trained on how to use their system/computers. He took 1 hour per customer to get them checked in. I am writing this review from the hotel room as the room next door is playing action movie on volume 40. Mind you it is 2:30 am in the morning. My SO called the service desk. We knocked at the door x2 asking him to keep it down. You could hear the action movie playing in the hallway as you step out of the elevator. The front of the lobby has the shortest possible canopy and when it’s raining/snowing there’s no way you are getting in/out of the hotel without getting wet if it’s raining/snowing outside.Their fridge is barely working at the coldest setting. There were no parking spots available and staff was not able to help. The lamps in the room do not work. Please enlighten me if you can’t get checked in on time, can’t get inside the hotel without getting wet in the rain, can’t park the car, can’t see because the lamps are not working, can’t have cold water because fridge is broken and above all can’t sleep past 2:30am because of an AMC-like movie theatre room courtesy of the guest next room, WHAT AM I PAYING FOR?????? Avoid at all cost this Hilton Garden in Hoffman Estate, IL location and go to the double tree which isn’t far from here. You have been warned. I travel constantly for work and this was by far the worst hotel experience of my life on a regular non- holiday weekend. I would really like my refund for the time and money...
